1 | >Be anon | |
2 | - | >Somehow get to Equestria |
2 | + | >You fucked up. |
3 | - | >Upon arrival, you have nothing but what you had on you. |
3 | + | >You don't know if you'll ever be able to show your face around your family ever again after what you pulled. |
4 | - | >A wallet filled with now useless currency and identification, your keys, and a candy wrapper. |
4 | + | >Your car begins to vibrate as a low bass sound hits your ears. |
5 | - | >You look around the area. |
5 | + | >You pull back onto the center of the road; its not the time to think, focus on driving. |
6 | - | >You can see a forest, mountains, and what looks to be a village. |
6 | + | >You shouldn't even be driving right now; the family reunion goes on for another two days. |
7 | - | >Heading towards civilization seems like a good idea, maybe you can get an idea as to where you are. |
7 | + | >It gets hard to see, but its hard to tell if the rain got heavier or if its the tears you've been fighting off this whole time. |
8 | - | >Its short walk though what appeared to be the morning hours, but it could just as easily be evening. |
8 | + | >After fumbling around for a few seconds, you put the wipers at full speed. |
9 | - | >You stop at the villages edge after you see a mint-colored unicorn levitating something in front of it. |
9 | + | >Doesn't help much, so you turn on the brights. |
10 | - | >It sees you as well, the shock causing it to wide-eyed and drop whatever is was.. holding? |
10 | + | >The light doesn't go far before its consumed in the dark of night. |
11 | - | >It doesn't look terrified at the strange creature that had just walked into town, no, it looks rather excited. |
11 | + | >Whats the point in trying anymore? |
12 | - | >Before you can react, you're on the ground, pinned down by the unicorn. |
12 | + | >The only people you could ever reach out to will just shun you. |
13 | - | >"Are you a human?!?" it asks in a feminine voice. |
13 | + | >They're never going to forget what you did, yet they will never speak of you again. |
14 | - | >So its a she and it can talk your language. |
14 | + | >You see a pair of lights further down the road. |
15 | - | >What are the odds? |
15 | + | >Is life really worth living; knowing that the only people you could ever rely on never want to see you again? |
16 | - | "Umm... yeah? Where exactly am I? I never knew there was a land of talking unicorns on Earth." |
16 | + | >Its hard to see through rain and your tears, the only visible thing being the not-so-distant headlights from the other vehicle. |
17 | - | >"Earth? is that where humans are from?!?" she says in an increasingly excited tone. |
17 | + | "Fuck it." |
18 | - | "Are you saying I'm NOT on Earth? Look here, miss... uhh..." |
18 | + | >You pull your vehicle over into the other lane, seconds before you pass what is now obviously a large truck. |
19 | - | >"My names Lyra, Lyra Hearstrings." |
19 | + | >The truck driver had to time to react before you slammed into him, gas pedal glued to the floor. |
20 | - | "Okay, Lyra, if I'm not on Earth, then where exactly am I?" You say, brushing her off of you and standing up. |
20 | + | >There is nothing but light, and then darkness. |
21 | - | >"You're in Equestria! A place where humans are, or were, just myths!" |
21 | + | |
22 | - | "Equestria? Whats next, a city named Ponyville?" |
22 | + | >Beep... Beep... Beep... |
23 | - | >"Umm... that's where you are right now. Ponyville." |
23 | + | >You hear what sounds like some form of life support. |
24 | - | "Wha-.. you know what, never mind. What time is it?" |
24 | + | >"He appears to be fine, other than the fact the was in a coma when you found him. Where did you find him again?" |
25 | - | >"Its uhh... about six in the afternoon." |
25 | + | >"Just laying on the side of the road, near the outskirts of Ponyville." |
26 | - | "Great. I'll need to find a hotel or something soon. You know where a hotel is?" |
26 | + | >"Were there any magical items near where you found him?" |
27 | - | >"Ponyville doesn't have a hotel right now. OOH! I know! You could stay with me and Bon Bon!" |
27 | + | >"Nothing." |
28 | - | "Bon Bon?" |
28 | + | >Ponyville? Where the hell is that, and how did you get there? |
29 | - | >"Yeah! Shes my roomate! It'll be neat to have a human stay with us!" |
29 | + | >The last thing you can remember is driving into a truck. |
30 | - | >Shrugging, not knowing what else there is to do, you agree with her. |
30 | + | >How did you walk away from that, especially without injury? |
31 | >Well, there's only one way to find out at this point.
32 | - | >She tells you to follow her and starts bouncing down the road, overflowing with excitement. |
32 | + | >You slowly open your eyes, the bright light assaulting your contracted pupils. |
33 | - | >You arrive at a two story house with a thatched roof, from which you can smell a faint hint of chocolate. |
33 | + | "The fuck?" |
34 | - | "Is that chocolate I smell? I didn't think another world, or maybe even universe, would have chocolate." |
34 | + | >Your whispers caught the attention of the two miniature horses in front of you. |
35 | - | >"Mhmm. My roommates a candy maker. C'mon, let me introduce you to her." |
35 | + | >One of them is white with a pale-pink mane and tail; while the other one is a minty-green with a light-baby blue and white mane and tail. |
36 | - | >She motions to the now open door which is glowing a golden color, like her horn. |
36 | + | "What is this place?" |
37 | - | >You're going to get fat if you're not careful with how much candy you eat. |
37 | + | >They both just stand there, mouths agape, until the white one breaks the silence. |
38 | - | >The moment you step inside the house, you are assaulted with delightful smells. |
38 | + | >"Umm.. W-well you're in the P-ponyville medical center, in Ponyville, Equestria." |
39 | - | >Chocolate, strawberries, vanilla, and so much more you can't even name. |
39 | + | "And how exactly did I get here?" |
40 | - | >You close your eyes and take a deep breath though your nose. |
40 | + | >"Nopony has any idea, even Celestia couldn't figure out where you came from." |
41 | - | >It sorta reminds you of a candy shop from when you were a kid. |
41 | + | "Cele... you know what? Don't tell me, it wont help. Since you can't tell how I got here, I guess there's no way back..." |
42 | - | >"Lyra! What is this... thing you brought in here! I told you not to bring strange creatures into the house!" |
42 | + | |
43 | - | >Your eyes shoot open and you see a tan pony with a blue and pink mane shouting and scowling at Lyra. |
43 | + | >The greenish one speaks up. |
44 | - | >That must be Bon Bon. |
44 | + | >"Umm... what should we call you?" |
45 | - | >"Bon Bon, he's a human! He can even talk our language! Plus, he wont hurt us. He didn't fight back when I tackled him. Now calm down. I told him that he could stay here for the night." |
45 | + | "My name is Anon E. Mous." |
46 | - | >"You told him WHAT?!?" she said stomping one of her front hooves. "Lyra, you can't just invite complete strangers into our home, that's dangerous!" |
46 | + | >"Well i-its nice to meet you, Anon. My name is Lyra Heartstrings." |
47 | - | >"I already told you he wont hurt us. Plus, where else is he going to stay? Its getting late and he probably doesn't have any money." |
47 | + | >"And umm... I'm Nurse Redheart. Do you have any pre-existing medical conditions I should know about?" |
48 | - | >"Ugh. Fine. But if he touches a SINGLE piece of my chocolate, he's out! You already know I make too man exceptions for you." |
48 | + | "Well, I'm allergic to horse fur." |
49 | - | >"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll tell him. Now let me introduce you, after all, he is a guest here." |
49 | + | >At this, Nurse Redheart's stethoscope falls to the floor as she jumps with a mixture of fear and surprise. |
50 | - | >The duo head your way, Lyra smiling with glee while Bon Bon's face remained cold. |
50 | + | >Her hoof is pressed against her chest and she is breathing hard. |
51 | - | >"Bon Bon, this is... uhhh.. whats your name?" |
51 | + | >Its also obvious that Lyra is holding back her laughter. |
52 | - | >"You don't even know his name?!?" |
52 | + | >After a moment, Nurse Redheart looked at Lyra, and could see that her snout is scrunched up. |
53 | - | "Anon M. Nous, but just call me Anon," Interrupting before they could argue again. |
53 | + | >She just glares at Lyra, clearly unhappy with the joke. |
54 | >This just makes it even better to Lyra; it isn't long before she starts to crack.
55 | - | >"Well, I'm Bon Bon. I'm assuming you heard what I said about my chocolate?" |
55 | + | >Nurse Redheart turns towards you, shooting daggers from her eyes. |
56 | - | "I heard you loud and clear. No touching the chocolate." |
56 | + | >"Well, if you're willing to make jokes about your- |
57 | - | >"You'd better not. Well, now that's over with, I'm going off to bed. Lyra, show Anon where he will be sleeping." |
57 | + | >Lyra's laughter cut Nurse Redheart's sentence short, which prompts Nurse Redheart to glare at her again. |
58 | - | >She leaves the room and heads upstairs, presumably to her bedroom. |
58 | + | >She calms down after a few moments, clearly starting to feel a litte uncomfortable with the Nurses' stare. |
59 | - | "Is she always like that?" |
59 | + | >Nurse Redheart turns back towards you, still aggravated with your shenanigans. |
60 | - | >"Nah. She's just really uptight about things. Once you get to know her she's a big softy." |
60 | + | >"As I was saying, you must be healthy if you're willing to make jokes." |
61 | - | "I'll believe it when I see it. So where am I sleeping?" |
61 | + | "As healthy as can be. Now, where am I going to be staying?" |
62 | - | >"On the couch. Let me show you." |
62 | + | >"Lyra and I spoke about this; she agreed to let you stay with her, at least until you can get your own home." |
63 | - | >She leads you into a room on your right, where there's a coffee table, some end tables, and, of course, a decently sized sofa. |
63 | + | >"I figured it was only right since I found you." |
64 | - | >"Here you are! Let me go get you a blanket and some pillows." |
64 | + | >You spin yourself so that your feet are on the floor beside the bed and stand up. |
65 | - | >She walks back out of the room and turns the same way Bon Bon went. |
65 | + | "Well, thank you Nurse for taking care of me. Now, Lyra, show me the way." |
66 | - | >You hear a door open and shut before she returns with a blanket and a pillow floating beside her. |
66 | + | >You follow her out of the medical center and onto the earthen streets of Ponyville. |
67 | - | >"Since it doesn't seem like you have any other clothes, we will have to get some custom made tomorrow." |
67 | + | |
68 | - | "Sounds like a plan. Night Lyra" |
68 | + | >The first thing you notice is the smell. |
69 | - | >"Good night Anon." |
69 | + | >Or, the smells, rather. |
70 | >An assortment of flowers, from roses to tulips, graced your nose with their enchanting scent.
71 | - | >When you wake up the next morning, Bon Bon is already working on crafting her confections. |
71 | + | >Herbs and spices from restaurants are floating through the air, making your mouth water. |
72 | - | >The smell is even stronger than when you entered last night, and you're practically drooling. |
72 | + | >The smell of candy and freshly baked pastries drift in and out of your nostrils, tempting you every which way. |
73 | - | >No wonder Bon Bon said that Lyra had touched her candy a few times. |
73 | + | >Then you notice the colors. |
74 | - | >You sit up and rub your eyes, the blanket falling off your upper body. |
74 | + | >The inhabitants, ponies you assume, are a full spectrum of colors. |
75 | - | >You get up and follow the tantalizing smell of melted chocolate to the kitchen. |
75 | + | >The buildings are all unique in their own way, yet blend together in a magnificent manner. |
76 | - | >Since yo have nothing to do until Lyra takes you to Rarity's, you just watch Bon Bon do her thing. |
76 | + | >Then comes the sound. |
77 | - | >While doing so, you notice a small mark on the sides of her flanks that look like three wrapped candies. |
77 | + | >Birds are singing their songs, as if they are single choir. |
78 | - | >You begin to wonder what those are for when you feel something poking your side. |
78 | + | >The friendly chatter coming from the ponies feels upbeat and welcoming. |
79 | - | >Lyra is behind you trying to get your attention. "Morning sleepyhead. Travelling between world must take a lot out of you, since you slept in later than me." |
79 | + | >Then comes touch. |
80 | - | >"That's unheard of around here," added Bon Bon while stirring some sugary mix. |
80 | + | >The warm sun is washing over your body from above. |
81 | - | "I think it was being tackled to the ground that took the most out of me." |
81 | + | >A cool breeze occasionally rolls over your body, abating the Sun's heat. |
82 | - | >Heh. I'm sorry. I get a bit crazy whenever humans are mentioned, and seeing one made me just lose my marbles for a minute." |
82 | + | >Its a sensory overload, taking it all in. |
83 | - | >"A bit crazy?" |
83 | + | >You hardly notice the cozy-looking bungalow Lyra is leading you towards; except you bump into a small, decorative fence outside the home. |
84 | - | >"Fine, I'm obsessed." |
84 | + | >"Well, this is where you'll be staying; let me show you in." |
85 | - | "What time is it anyways?" |
85 | + | >Looking down, you notice something new about her. |
86 | - | >"Its about one thirty." |
86 | + | >Shes a unicorn. |
87 | - | "I slept in that late? Wow." |
87 | + | >Now that you think about, you saw other ponies with horns. |
88 | - | >"Yeah, we had best get a move on in case Rarity feels like closing early today. She does that when she has a big order to fill." |
88 | + | >It doesn't seem out of place in a land of colorful talking horses. |
89 | - | >You yawn, as you're still a little groggy from sleeping. |
89 | + | >You also notice a strange marking on her side, towards her tail. |
90 | - | "Well then, lets get a move on." |
90 | + | >It looks something like a golden lyre. |
91 | - | >You and Lyra head out the door and onto the earthen Ponyville streets. |
91 | + | "Hey, whats with the marking near your tail?" |
92 | >"That thing? Its what we ponies call a 'cutie mark.' It symbolizes out special talent."
93 | - | >The streets had plenty of ponies going about, but it was nothing compared to a big city. |
93 | + | "Are you born with it? Seems kinda like cheating." |
94 | - | >"Rarity's boutique is just down the road." |
94 | + | >"Nah. We have to figure out what our special talent is to get them. If you couldn't tell, mine is playing the lyre." |
95 | - | >You follow Lyra as she begins to circumvent vendor stalls. |
95 | + | |
96 | - | >Its about a five minute walk to the boutique, which was drawn out by the heavy traffic. |
96 | + | "Nice little place you got here; how long have you been here?" |
97 | - | >The building is tall, and looks a bit like a carousel, which is explained when you see a sign that read "Carousel Boutique." |
97 | + | >"I've been living in Ponyville for a couple years now, but I only just recently moved into this house." |
98 | - | >Whoever decorated the place definitely made it stand out. |
98 | + | >She opened a door pulled out some blankets and sheets with... her... glowy golden thing. |
99 | - | >Lyra opened the door, which caused a small bell to ring. "You coming?" |
99 | + | "What the hell did you just do?" |
100 | - | >You walk into the boutique, and the first thing you see is mirrors. Tons and tons of mirrors. Guess it only makes sense since the place sells clothes. |
100 | + | >"What do mean? I just just opened the closet and got some sheets out, nothing special." |
101 | - | >"Welcome to Carousel Boutique, where every garment is chic, unique, and magnifique! My name is Rarity, how may I be of service today," chimed a new voice. |
101 | + | "Yeah, but you did it without touching it. The stuff just started to glow and move around." |
102 | - | >"Hi Rarity. My friend here, Anon, needs some new clothes, but there aren't any clothes errr... suited to him in Ponyville, so we need them custom made." |
102 | + | >"Wait, you don't know what magic is?" |
103 | - | >You could hear there conversation, yet you couldn't see them. |
103 | + | "Magic? Where I come from, the only 'magic' we have is parlor tricks, it ain't real." |
104 | - | >They must be behind one of the many curtains around the room. |
104 | + | >She shut the door and turned down the hall. |
105 | - | >"Why, of course! Where is this 'Anon' fellow of yours?" |
105 | + | >"No magic? That sounds pretty boring." |
106 | - | >"He should be by the doorway. Oh, and don't freak out when you see him." |
106 | + | "There's plenty of stuff to do in my world without fancy magic. Although, it is pretty cool." |
107 | - | >"Now darling, why in Equestria would I 'freak out'?" |
107 | + | >"Telekinesis? That's basic stuff. There's way neater stuff that other ponies can do." |
108 | - | >"Just promise me you won't." |
108 | + | >She opens a door, revealing a room with a bare mattress resting on a low-lying bed frame. |
109 | - | >"I promise dear." |
109 | + | "What do you mean by 'basic stuff.'" |
110 | >"More advanced magic users can do things like teleport, or give themselves wings, or even to other ponies that don't have wings."
111 | - | >They step out from a curtain on your left, and immediately you hear a shriek. |
111 | + | "Wait, ponies that don't have wings? There are ponies that can fly?" |
112 | - | >"W-what is that... thing? Its unlike anything I have ever seen!" |
112 | + | >Still using her magic, she begins to make your bed. |
113 | - | >She is starting to backpedal with a look of horror on her face. |
113 | + | >"Yeah, they're called pegasi; that's enough about Equestria." |
114 | - | >"Rarity! Calm down! He's a human!" |
114 | + | >She put the finishing touches on the bed and turned around to face you. |
115 | - | >"A human?!? Those things are only myths! There's no WAY one of them could be in my shop!" |
115 | + | >"Why are you wearing clothes? Were you some kind of formal event before you got here?" |
116 | - | >She is continuing to back up, approaching a mirror. |
116 | + | "Sorta, but humans were clothes all the time, since we don't really have a fur coat or the like." |
117 | - | >You see what is about to happen, so you sprint slightly towards one side and then angle in at Rarity's side as she continues to move backwards. |
117 | + | >"Really? Well, we might need to get you some clothes then." |
118 | - | >She runs into a massive mirror and it begins to fall. |
118 | + | "I don't think that anyone will have anything my size, or shape really." |
119 | - | >You dive towards her with your arms stretched out, prepared to grab her. |
119 | + | >"I know somepony who can probably custom-make something; that will have to be tomorrow though, its starting to get late." |
120 | - | >You grab her and tuck her against your chest as you roll out of the way. |
120 | + | >Sure enough, you look out of the window in the room, and the edge of the moon was starting to peek over the horizon |
121 | - | >A loud crash comes from behind you as the mirror hits the floor. |
121 | + | >"Goodnight, Anon." |
122 | - | >Lyra had fallen back on her haunches at the spectacle and just sat their wide eyed. |
122 | + | "See you in the morning." |
123 | - | >Rarity was in tears; too paralyzed with fear to react to you holding her. |
123 | + | >With that, she shuts the door with her magic and walks away. |
124 | - | >You did the only thing you could think of and began to stroke her eloquently groomed mane. |
124 | + | >You strip yourself down to your boxers and slip under the covers. |
125 | - | "Calm down Rarity. I'm not going to hurt you. There's no need to be afraid." |
125 | + | >The beds a little too small, but you can deal with it. |
126 | - | >This goes on for a few minutes until Rarity calmed down enough to move again. |
126 | + | |
127 | - | >You let her go and she levitated a box of tissues to her. |
127 | + | >It's morning now, and you're awake. |
128 | - | >She began to wipe the tears and smeared makeup away as she said, "Oh dear, I apologize for that... display. I just wasn't expecting a strange creature to be in my boutique." |
128 | + | >You have no idea what time it is, and you don't give a fuck; it's too early in time. |
129 | - | "Its fine. I understand how people, and I guess ponies, can be when it comes to a potentially dangerous being." |
129 | + | >You shift your feet to the side of the bed, as to get up. |
130 | - | >"No. Its not fine. I owe you putting up with that uncouth behavior." |
130 | + | >Upon getting about half-way up, you fall back onto the bed. |
131 | - | "Really? I cause you to break what appeared to be a rather expensive mirror-" |
131 | + | >The damn thing is really low to the ground. |
132 | - | >"That was completely my fault, darling. My actions lead to this and your actions saved me from it. I owe you. Now what is it that you want?" |
132 | + | >Eyes still half-shut, you move to get up again; this time you manage to do so. |
133 | - | "Well, I suddenly appeared here without any of my belongings, so I'm going to need some clothes." |
133 | + | >With your arms dangling at your side and your back hunched, you drag yourself towards the door. |
134 | >You never were a morning person.
135 | - | >"Hmm... I've never had to work with anything with your figure before. Let me get your measurements so that I can get a feel for what I'm doing here." |
135 | + | >It opens to your clumsy grasp, and you start down the hall in search of a bathroom. |
136 | - | "No problem. Where do you want me to stand?" |
136 | + | >After a few minutes of stumbling about, you find an open door leading to a bathroom. |
137 | - | >"Right over here on this platform will do." |
137 | + | >You step in, shut the door, and start looking for your toothbrush. |
138 | - | >You walk over to the platform and stand straight on it. |
138 | + | "Ah shit."c |
139 | - | >She put a pair of red glasses and pulled some measuring tape out. |
139 | + | >You forgot you are in a land of magical talking pony things. |
140 | - | >You spread your arms out, as this isn't the first time you've been measured for clothing, and stand still as she made her measurements. |
140 | + | >After a pause, you splash some cold water on your face and take a whiz. |
141 | - | >She takes down measurements for about ten minutes, double checking to make sure that everything was correct. |
141 | + | >While heading back into the hallway, you look towards the living room. |
142 | - | >"Well. That seems to be it. I'll have you a couple pairs of pants and some shirts for you tomorrow. I apologize again for earlier." |
142 | + | >Lyra is walking into a room next to the living room; maybe it's the kitchen? |
143 | - | "Its no big deal Rarity." |
143 | + | >The stomach is now in control, and it is hungry. |
144 | - | >"If you say so," she says looking down a little. |
144 | + | >The beast within you pulls you towards Lyra; no mercy will be displayed for any meal. |
145 | - | >"So umm... how much do I owe you?" |
145 | + | >Upon rounding the corner, you find that she is in fact in the kitchen, and find that she appears to be making something. |
146 | - | >"Lyra, dear, I'm not going to charge you anything for two reasons. One is my reaction. The other is the fact that Anon is in desperate need of clothing." |
146 | + | "What's cookin'?" |
147 | - | >"Well, what about the mirror? Shouldn't I at least pay for part of that?" |
147 | + | >She's stirring whatever it is with a wooden spoon that's grasped in her magic. |
148 | - | >"Its rather alright Lyra. There's no need to throw your bits at me, I make enough to replace it without a problem." |
148 | + | >"Just some cinnamon oatmeal, nothing special." |
149 | - | >"Well thanks then Rarity. I hope we weren't too much of a hassle." |
149 | + | >Taking a seat at the nearby table, you continue. |
150 | - | >"I'm always willing to help somepony, or someone, in need." |
150 | + | "Ponies have oatmeal? I haven't had that stuff since I was a kid." |
151 | - | >You and Lyra leave the Carousel Boutique and decide to go get some lunch. |
151 | + | >"It's a pretty common meal around here;"— she put the spoon aside and turned the stove off —"was it common where you came from?" |
152 | >She starts to put oatmeal into a couple of bowls she nabbed with her magic.
153 | - | >After a short walk, you and Lyra arrive at a small cafe. |
153 | + | "It's common in some regions more than others"— Lyra placed the bowls an silverware on the table —"but let's eat." |
154 | - | >Its nothing special, but it has a nice feeling to it. |

155 | - | >You and Lyra take a seat outside, its a nice day to do so anyways. |
155 | + | >Breakfast goes by fairly quickly, and, for the most part, is taken in silence. |
156 | - | >A few ponies give you strange glances, but they either get back to what they were doing or Lyra waves them off. |
156 | + | >You put your dishes in the sink and decide to figure out what's going to happen today. |
157 | - | >A waiter approaches us after what seems like an abnormally long wait time. |
157 | + | "So, whats the plan for the day?" |
158 | - | >Hes shaking a little and is constantly glancing from left to right, trying not to look at you. |
158 | + | >"Well, it's Saturday, so I don't have to work." |
159 | - | >"Hey there buddy, calm down. Hes not going to hust you and he can speak out language. There's no need to fret." |
159 | + | >She raises a hoof to her chin and looks towards the ceiling. |
160 | - | >"Umm.. w-what would you t-two like to d-drink?" |
160 | + | >"Uhh... We need to go get you some clothes, and I should probably show you around town; maybe we can find you a job!" |
161 | - | >You almost felt bad for the poor stallion. Almost. |
161 | + | >A smile comes across her face as she put her hoof down. |
162 | - | >"Get us both a hayshake please." |
162 | + | "Don't you think ponies might find it kinda strange for something like me to be working around town?" |
163 | - | >"I-I'll get r-right on it." |
163 | + | >She dismisses your worries with a turn of her head and a shake of her hoof. "Nah, they'll get used to it. Besides, stranger things have happened." |
164 | - | >He walks back towards the cafe and struggles to open the door. |
164 | + | >You shrug. "If you say so." |
165 | - | "Maybe this wasn't the best idea." |
165 | + | >The two of you head out the door and onto the mid-morning Ponyville streets. |
166 | - | >"Nah. If you stick around long enough the ponies will get used to you." |
166 | + | >A few ponies give you questionable looks, but most appear to be happy with a new face in town. |
167 | - | "So, I noticed marks on Bon Bon's flanks this morning. They looked like little pieces of wrapped candy. Why are those there?" |
167 | + | >This time, you notice a few pegasi dotting the sky, and some of them were pushing the clouds around. |
168 | - | >"Well, if you haven't noticed, everypony has one. Its called a 'cutie mark' and it represents our special talent." |
168 | + | >Wait, what? |
169 | - | "Interesting name. So I'm assuming Bon Bon's has something to do with candy. And whats yours?" |
169 | + | "Uhhh... Lyra, why are the pegasi pushing clouds around?" |
170 | - | >"I play the lyre." |
170 | + | >"That's simple, pegasi control the weather. They're the only ones who can touch clouds, so they move them around according to a schedule." |
171 | - | "You're a musician? I thought you'd be a mythologist after how you acted last night." |
171 | + | >You just accept the fact and continue following. |
172 | - | >"Yep. I usually just play background music at fancy restaurants, but sometimes I participate in something larger. In fact, I need to tune my lyre for a job tonight." |
172 | + | >It isn't long before Lyra leads you into what looks like an overdone carousel. |
173 | - | >The same waiter returned with a couple of cups with straws coming out of them on a tray. He could barely balance them as he approached us. "Here y-you go. E-enjoy." |
173 | + | |
174 | - | >"I need to get going. We're going to have to take these to go." She places a few golden things that look like coins on the table. "Keep the change." |
174 | + | >"Well, hello Lyra. Its a pleasant surprise to see you here. And, errr.. who is this that you brought with you?" |
175 | - | >You grabbed your hayshake and got up. Lyra did the same but with magic, and you left. |
175 | + | >A white unicorn, with an eloquent royal purple mane and matching tail, is squinting at you behind some small red glasses. |
176 | >"Rarity, this is Anon. He's that mysterious creature that showed up a couple days ago; I decide to take him in until he can get a home of his own." She's holding a hoof out in your general direction.
177 | - | >About ten minutes later, you're sitting in the living room listening to the faint notes of Lyra's lyre through the ceiling while sipping on a hayshake. It isn't bad, but its only making you hungry. |
177 | + | >"Ah. Well, I must say it's a pleasure to meet you Anon. Now, may I ask, what brings you hear today?" |
178 | - | >Bon Bon had already gone to sleep. |
178 | + | "I need some clothes, Miss Rarity, and as you can probably tell, I'm going to need them custom made." |
179 | - | >You run out of hayshake and get up to throw it away. |
179 | + | >You can't help but call her 'miss' with the way she carries herself. |
180 | - | >It takes you a minute to find the trashcan, but you do. |
180 | + | >She raises her hoof up and stomps it back down as she raises her head. |
181 | - | >After you tho it away, you see Lyra heading for the door with a small grin on her face. |
181 | + | >"Well, you have come to the right mare! Let me just get you to step over here, so that I can get your measurements." |
182 | - | "Hey Lyra." |
182 | + | >She leads you over to a small platform that is surrounded by large mirrors. |
183 | - | >"Whats up, Anon?" |
183 | + | >Using her magic, she begins to wrap a measuring tape. |
184 | - | "I was wondering if I could go to the restaurant with you." |
184 | + | >You notice that her magic is a light blue, rather than a golden color. |
185 | - | >"Why? You getting hungry?" |
185 | + | >After a few minutes of her measuring you and scribbling, she puts the measuring tape down. |
186 | - | "That, and I kinda want to hear you play." |
186 | + | >"Well, I should be able to work with this. I'll have a few outfits ready for you tomorrow." |
187 | - | >"Well I was just practicing, why didn't you ask then?" |
187 | + | "It is very much appreciated." |
188 | - | "I had a hayshake to keep me distracted." |
188 | + | >"Anytime, dear." |
189 | - | >"Well-" she hovers a few coins over to you "-I don't have a problem with it. But I want something in return from you." |
189 | + | >Lyra puts her hoof up to her mouth and lets out a small giggle. |
190 | - | "Yeah, sure. What do you want?" |
190 | + | >"Come on, Anon; we can't stay here all day. I need to show you the way around town." |
191 | - | >"I'll tell you after my performance." |
191 | + | >Once outside the shop, you begi- |
192 | - | >The two of you head out the door again. This time Lyra had a black case with her lyre inside in tow. |
192 | + | >"So, you're already hitting on the mares, huh?" |
193 | - | >You follow her half way across town to the restaurant, where she gets you in after a little talking. |
193 | + | >One of your hands immediately goes to the back of your neck, while the other sticks out in front of you, palm up. |
194 | - | >A waiter joined you, this one much less nervous than the one at the cafe, who led you to a seat. |
194 | + | "What?! No, I was just trying to be respectful." |
195 | - | >Lyra went over to the stage where a gray mare was packing up what looked like a cello. |
195 | + | >"What, and you're not going to be respectful to the mare who took you in?" |
196 | - | >You saw the two exchange a few words before the gray one went for the exit and Lyra began to set up. |
196 | + | >Fuck. You had no idea Lyra was so... insecure? |
197 | - | >"Ahem. What would you like to drink sir?" |
197 | + | "N-no... that's not wha-" |
198 | - | >The waiter must have been standing there the whole time. |
198 | + | >Lyra giggles a little. |
199 | - | "Oh, sorry. Just a glass of water will be fine." |
199 | + | >"Relax, Anon; I'm just messin' with ya'." |
200 | - | >He places a menu in front of you. "Very well, sir." |
200 | + | >You let out a grunt, followed by a small chuckle. |
201 | >You are going to have to get her back for that.
202 | - | >The waiter left you to go get your glass of water and you began to notice an uncomfortable feeling. |
202 | + | |
203 | - | >The seating was a bit too small for you here. |
203 | + | >Lyra takes you back to the house before going back into town, so you know where everything is, relative to the house. |
204 | - | >It wasn't a problem at the cafe because the seats were just bales of hay, but here they had actual seats. |
204 | + | >After sightseeing for a couple hours, you notice what looks like a giant gingerbread house. |
205 | - | >You adjusted yourself to be as comfortable as possible. |
205 | + | >Pointing to the sugary structure, you ask, |
206 | - | >It made you look a bit odd, but you are already an unknown creature so it wouldn't make much of a difference. |
206 | + | "Hey Lyra, what's up with candy-coated cottage?" |
207 | - | >You open the menu and start to go through the selections. |
207 | + | >She follows your finger to where the gumdrop galore lies. |
208 | - | >That's when you realize that the ponies don't eat meat. |
208 | + | >"Oh, that's Sugarcube Corner. If you can't tell by the name, they sell sugary stuff." |
209 | - | >Looks like a major change is about to occur in your diet. |
209 | + | >You begin to walk away, when an idea hits you. |
210 | - | >At least they have rice and beans for your protein. |
210 | + | "You think they have any job opening?" |
211 | - | >There's a clunk sound as the waiter places your water on the table. |
211 | + | >"With how busy they are, I wouldn't be surprised... but, uhhh, why does it matter?" |
212 | - | >"Are you ready to order sir?" |
212 | + | "Well, I thought you wanted me to get a job, so that I can move out one day; unless you want me to live with you." |
213 | - | "Umm... yeah I'll have the rice and beans with a side salad." |
213 | + | >"No, of course I wa-." |
214 | - | >"Very good sir. I'll be back with your order shortly." |
214 | + | >You place your hands on your hips. |
215 | - | >He walks off towards the kitchen to place your order. |
215 | + | "Are you saying you don't want around anymore?" |
216 | - | >You begin to hear a few musical notes. |
216 | + | >"Err.. N-no.." |
217 | - | >You think, "is that Lyra? That musics beautiful." |
217 | + | >Before she can say anything, a shit-eating grin slowly spreads across your face. |
218 | - | >Sure enough, your suspicions are confirmed with a glance around the room. |
218 | + | >She notices the look on your face after a few seconds and stops fumbling about with her words. |
219 | - | >Lyra is playing her golden lyre on the small stage in the center of the room. |
219 | + | >"Are we even now?" |
220 | - | >You sit there for a minute with your eyes closed, enjoying the relaxing melody. |
220 | + | >You nod your head. |
221 | - | >"Your food sir." |
221 | + | "Even. Let's go see about that job." |
222 | - | >You quickly open your eyes and sit up a little bit. |
222 | + | >You can't help but notice that Lyra has a small smile on her face as you make your way towards Sugarcube Corner. |
223 | - | "Thank you." |
223 | + | |
224 | - | >The waiter walks over to the next new guest and begins to take their order. |
224 | + | >You enter the shop to find quite a few ponies either in line or at one of the several cafe-style tables. |
225 | - | >You dig into your meal without hesitation, you were starving. |
225 | + | >The two of you get in line behind a brown pegasus. |
226 | - | >You try to slow down some so that you're not just sitting there for however long Lyra was supposed to be playing. |
226 | + | >Given your height, you can see a pink mare working the register. |
227 | - | >Even with your efforts to slow down, it only takes you about fifteen minutes to finish off the meal. |
227 | + | >She sounds energetic and happy, despite looking exhausted. |
228 | - | >Fortunately Lyra explained to the waiter that he can't leave until she does, or else they would probably try to kick you out. |
228 | + | >It isn't long before you're at the front of the line. |
229 | - | >After a few minutes of lounging around and listening to the music, the waiter returns to take your empty plates. |
229 | + | >With a large smile, the clerk greets you. |
230 | - | >He leaves behind a tab that says the meal will cost him seventeen 'bits'. That must be what those golden coins are called. |
230 | + | >"Welcome to Sugarcube Corner, where treat is its own feat! What would you like today? A cinamon roll? A bannana nut muffin? Ohh! How about a chocolate cake? Maybe a-" |
231 | - | >Lyra had given you twenty, so you just place them all there for the waiter. |
231 | + | >"Hey there Pinkie-" Lyra interrupts, "-Anon here is looking for a job, and we're wondering if you had any openings?" |
232 | - | >Eventually he returns for the bill, but he says nothing as he takes it. |
232 | + | >"Mmhmm. We're looking for somepony to be a waiter. Mrs.Cake said that if anypony is willing to take the job, they can have it! As you can probably tell, most ponies don't want to take such a busy job." |
233 | "Consider that position filled, Pinkie."
234 | - | >You sit there for about forty five minutes before Lyra finishes. |
234 | + | >She looks almost as if she would explode with joy. |
235 | - | >She packed up and came over to you. |
235 | + | >"Oh, that's superduperwondefullyspectacular! Especially since you're new in town! There's so many things we could talk about too! Like-" |
236 | - | "You only play for an hour?" |
236 | + | >"Pinkie, I think we should get going," Lyra makes a gesture towards the impatient crowd gathering behind you, "there's quite a few ponies who would like to place an order." |
237 | - | >"Its all they need and they pay quite a bit for that hour." |
237 | + | >"Oh! Ehehe. Sorry about that everypony!" |
238 | - | "You would think they'd want you to play more with that musical talent." |
238 | + | >You head back out onto the streets; a couple hours still remain before it gets dark. |
