Beneath her various cloaks and covers, Thyma stands at about 5' tall. She is incredibly malnourished, her skin tightly pulled over her brittle bones. Her eyes are dull brown, and her skin (at least what remains of it), is as white as the moon. Most of her body is covered in vicious burn scars, blackening the skin across nearly all of her body. Old lacerations and scars cover her flesh as well, breaking up the blackened scars like cracks in the earth.

Her head has massive sections that are left completely covered in scar tissue, keeping the hair there from growing ever again. The little hair she does grow is gray, wispy and thin.

Her clothing is simple, asides from her mask. The mask is crafted from hard bone, ivory from a massive beast. There are spectacularly intricate and detailed geometric etchings across the surface of the mask. Dark, glass lenses sit in the eye holes of the mask, obscuring even Thyma's eyes from view.

Background
44
Thyma was born and raised in Zerif, living a pleasant life as the town doctor's assistant ever since she was a young girl. By the time she reached twenty, she had her own practice in her town, and once she turned 25, she moved to a bigger city to gain access to better resources and medical equipment.
45
However, a mysterious plague began sweeping through her home. It was benign at first, a simple flu that crept in and out of the unfortunate. She began studying the victim's of the disease before it changed into something horrifying, and her studies slowly drew her deeper and deeper into her laboratory. By the time she was 32, she never left. She boiled tonics and distilled potions and harvested ichors without ever leaving. She had several assistants that ran her errands and fed her while she worked.
46
She finally reached a breakthrough when she was 38, and the disease was reaching its apex. A young adventurer came to her, infected and angry. He had caught the disease days before slaying a massive beast that had been terrorizing the village. His wounds were festering, his very person was crumbling before the doctor's eyes.
47
She tried every potion and tonic she could, and the young man began to recover, all was saved in Thyma's sunken, tired eyes. However, a mysterious cloaked man appeared in her doorway as she closed the hospital that night.
48
He promised her vast sums of money, a life fit for a noble, as long as she left all of her research behind. If she let the plague continue its rampage, then she would live a life fit for a queen. He trickled jewels and gold from his fingertips, like a path to a better life.
49
She was disgusted by his actions, and threw him out immediately. As she toiled over her tonics the next day, a stray brew fell off the countertop. It crashed to the floor, and as it collided with the hardwood, it burst into a spectacular conflagration. Flames licked every surface within twenty feet. The sheer heat of the explosion sent Thyma's entire lab into hysterics. Her assistants panicked, leaping and bounding for water and blankets to smother the fire. The flames spread up into the shelves, claiming other potions and brews as its kin.
50
Thyma shouted at her assistants to save her notes, to grab the brews, to do anything else, but her voice was lost as the fire claimed her work station. It exploded in a massive white hot burst, throwing the doctor across the room. The rafters began crashing downwards, killing one of her assistants on the spot. The others fled as more potions and brews began firing off.
51
Thyma was trapped beneath a massive wooden beam, the flames claiming her body like firewood. As her vision faded, the smells of ash and acrid smoke choking her, she saw him.
52
The young adventurer bound into the room, quick as could be, and dragged the doctor out. His body was still weak from the illness, and the potions sapped him of his strength as well, but he fought tooth and nail to get Thyma out. He battled through explosions and bursts from potions that were once safe, his body was warped and twisted by a mixture of flames and long abandoned mixtures. By the time he finally got her to safety, he was not the same man he once was.
53
54
She awoke many months later, in the adventurer's home. His wife tended to her wounds with tears in her eyes. The adventurer left many weeks ago, disgusted by what he had become. His wife pleaded for him to stay, but all he left was the carvings from the beast he had slain for her to sell, and survive off the funds.
55
Thyma had to right this wrong. She lost all of her many years of research, she lost her assistants, she lost her very lab, and she even lost her faith in the gods that she once thought would protect her; but she would not lose this young man. She became a travelling plague doctor, turning one of the bones from that great beast into her mask, and gathering up all the strength and courage she had to leave her home and find this man.
56
She has been searching for years, tracking a long cold trail and long dead rumors, but she will find him. And when she does, she will cure him.
