+  ↪ life for HONG BORA has always seemed easy. she was born into a well-off family and it almost seemed like everything was handed to her. that's mostly true, but she's not the spoiled brat everyone assumes she is. her childhood was… dull and boring. her afternoons had consisted of extra lessons and practicing the piano. though not as stressful as it is now, it wasn't the preferred childhood any kid would like to have. but bora had become accustomed to it anyways. sure she had play time, but not enough that you'd find her sulking by the end of the day. her parents didn't really put up with her whenever she acts like this. they just rolled their eyes and sighed, going back to their work or something. believe it or not, bora wasn't always the diligent and obedient daughter like she is now. her younger self still studied a lot whenever her parents told her to, but she also talked back, complained and whined about not having time to breathe. but then she realized the only way for her to get them off her back is to actually give them what they want, so she stopped begging. growing up with parents that expect a lot from had toughen her up. good thing the intelligence runs in the family.
   ↪ speaking of parents, bora's not really close with either of them. you can say that their relationship is almost awkward and formal, not really on a personal level. she never really confides in them, relying on her friends all the time for support and comfort (and even /that's/ rare). she doesn't hate them or anything… it's just how the family works, unfortunately. they'd have family dinners once a week on saturdays, and it's always something she loathed because the atmosphere is so stiff and awkward. it's bad enough that her mother used to be a teacher and is now a principal, lectures happen both at school and at home for her. don't quote her on this, but she might tolerate her dad more than her mother. the man is less strict. bora remembers going to theme parks with him when she was younger. good times, really. what she hates about /both/ of them is that she feels like they don't appreciate the work she puts into school. it's rare that you'd find them complimenting her grades. at home, it's always quiet whenever with the exception of her sister who occasionally makes it her job to sing the whole soundtrack of high school musical. bora cares about her sister, in that "i hate you so much you're annoying but we're blood related so i have no choice but to love you" kind of way.

 being the daughter of the academy's principal surely puts a lot of pressure on someone. but lucky for bora, she was programmed––i mean, birthed to be the epitome of a human encyclopedia. she was born to a family with great minds so it's no wonder how easy it is for her to get good grades. with the amount of extracurriculars she's in and the grades she has, she'd have no problem in graduating early. but still, that privilege (and the fact that her mother is the principal) doesn't stop her. bora thrives on being at her best and staying on top of all of her classes even if she's /already/ at the top. study, study, and study, it's like this girl has no time to breathe. she just wants to exploit her full potential and works hard every time she's given the chance to. some would say she's very admirable and some would also say she's inhumane. but all of this proves that she actually deserves to be where she's at. she gets by because she actually works for and not because her mother's the principal of the academy. in all honesty, the reason why she's pushing herself this much is to please her not-easily-pleased parents. it's a wonder how she manages to have her mind intact with being a merlin, balancing her academic life, AND making sure she has enough dose of a social life to keep her sane. guess this means she works well even if she has a lot on her plate, a good trait for a leader to have.

 despite being one of the youngest in her group, bora sure doesn't act like it. you'd rarely find her goofing around and her attending parties only happens once in a blue moon, usually when one of her friends forcefully drags her to one (most of the time by JAM JAM). she's really serious, and sometimes it really makes her scary and intimidating, but she's actually not mean at all. she just doesn't tolerate childish behavior and wasting time doing something she can't get a benefit out of. she's the voice of reason, keeping the ones who tend to come up with wild ideas from possibly getting kicked out of school (aka JAM JAM). yes, she's the type of friend who's always the designated driver and always drink responsibly. she's described as someone who's easily offended but is the type to bottle it up instead of calling someone out. it'd be nice if someone would give this girl a chill pill for once.

 always aceing debates and winning arguments prove just how much of a good speaker bora is, and she uses this trait to her advantage all the time. being extremely good with words and very, /very/ convincing makes it easy for her to make sure things go her way. she's naturally charming, whether you like it or not, and a bit manipulative if we're being honest here. being a wonderful actor also helps a lot, but this is just another way of saying she's a great liar despite the fact she never needs to lie out of a situation. it's the small things, like telling her friends that her stress level is low and that she's fine. or saying that she can't come to a party because she has a family dinner when she's really just staying in and binge-watching movies. she's not one to crack jokes, but whenever she does it's always something sarcastic. it's frustrating because often times people can't decide whether she's actually being serious or if she's joking, and bora's response with an eye roll or a sigh. bora is also a stubborn girl as well. she's very opinionated and usually gets riled up when someone has a different opinion from hers.

 like any other human being, bora has a soft side. not really having a tight-knit family has made her grow accustomed and attached to her group of friends. despite looking like the only things she thinks about are school and grades, she actually cares about her friends' well-being. it's no question that they worry about her a lot since she always has a handful of things to do. they're usually the ones who remind her to take a break and go out and have fun. bora always makes it clear that she's perfectly fine whenever they ask her if she's doing okay. but it actually touches her whenever they do. even if they can be frustrating to handle sometimes, she would always make sure that nothing ever wounds them in any way. being the leader, it's her job to protect the others, but she also does it because she loves them dearly.

 how they met:
   ↪ they met in bora's favorite part of the academy; the music room. classes had just ended but bora wanted to stay late to finish a composition so she went to the music room, expecting no one to be there because it's the end of the week and students were all rushing to get home and rest. but instead, she found the room to be occupied. when she enterred, the first thing she heard was a really, really sweet voice that would sound /perfect/ in one of her tracks. he didn't notice her coming in and she said something along the lines of "you have a nice voice" which startled him. though he seemed pleased by the compliment, he wasn't too glad about the fact that she interrupted him. she had seen him around campus before and knows enough about him. instead of thanking her, he said something like "maybe knock first next time" and left. bora was like "what the fuck" and it pissed her off more than she thought it would and she ended up thinking about him for the rest of the day.

   ↪ BEGINNING | they'd be civil around each other, probably, but they don't really talk much unless they're stuck with each other and only each other. it happens surprisingly often and usually bora finds her being in the music room with him after school or something. he's just… there? regardless, the more time they spend time together the more she gets to know  him and starts being comfortable around him, and starts learning the things she /doesn't/ like about him, too. but yeah, bora acts like how she'd normally act around people. and as for him, he's his usual self too. he kind of sees her as competition so he's always trying to prove to her that he can do things better than she can (subtly, of course).
   ↪ MIDDLE    |  they're kind of an odd but powerful pair that no one would expect to see hanging out in the cafeteria together. they don't consider themselves friends, but they've actually gotten close enough to even be called /best/ friends instead. he's quieter than she expected him to be, though, so it's her who initiates the conversation most of the time. she kind of turns him into the person she usually dumps her problems to? like, she rants to him a lot (about her parents, how stressful it is to be a merlin but she doesn't say this directly of course) and it's a good thing that he's more of a listener than a talker. he's comfortable, she would admit. he's always asking her for compliments and she never gives them just to spite him. getting him riled up is pretty satisfying. the rare occasions that she does compliment him gets him all bashful and shy which is a totally fun sigh to watch.
   ↪ END       |  compared to the other girls, she's late in realizing that the boy she's been talking to is most probably one of the sins. but once she starts getting suspicions she's quick to decide that he is, in fact, one of the sins. it just baffles her how it took her this long. i mean, it's written all over his face. this definitely changes how she acts around him. they'd just gotten really close and now she has to start being wary around him again because it's her job to get rid of him. does she want to get rid of him? no. will she get rid of him? probably. he notices this and starts wondering what he did wrong to make her start acting as if they were strangers again. it's like their relationship went from 100 to 0 real quick. it saddens her but she's a merlin and this is what she's supposed to do. bora's accustomed to following the rules and doing what she's been told to do. it's hard to break out that.

   ↪ bora dreams a lot. it's easy for her to remember them because they're so vivid and detailed that it's actually scary sometimes. her dreams are often about the most trivial things, like going on a road trip with her friends, sightseeing in japan, hanging out at the beach. most of her dreams are usually of her and her friends spending time without having to worry about anything else, which is something she never gets to do.
 
 it is raining (not lightly but not heavily, just right), what does your character do?
   ↪ bora would most likely sit down and stare outside of her window. maybe get a cup of hot chocolate and listen to her favorite slow songs, wrap herself up in a blanket and read her favorite novel again. but as much as bora loves rain, she wouldn't like to get soaked, so if she was outdoors when it suddenly poured she'd be rushing to get to the nearest shelter.

   ↪ bora would be a gun person. sharp things scare her, and a gun is so much easier to operate. plus, she wouldn't be good in close-range fighting. despite her being a very healthy and fit girl, hand-and-hand combat is not something she'd excel at. if she were in a situation where she'd need to eliminate a target, she prefers to be on the far end of it, like do it from a distance. the sight of blood makes her queasy anyway.
 
 what genre of music does your character listen to? how often and why?
   ↪ bora's music taste is very diverse. one morning she can be listening to very bubble-gum pop music and then by the time the day ends she'd be blasting steve aoki on her speakers. bora's music library is a dose of everything; mellow music, ballads, acoustics, edm, classic, even rock & alternative. this is mainly because as a producer, she doesn't want to limit herself to a specific genre of music (all about exploring new things!), but let's just say her favorite would be ballads and calming acoustics.
