| 8 |
The Ancients: | |
| 9 | The Ancients walked the world long before the other mortal races, and it is believed that all mortals can trace their ancestry back to these prehistoric people. In their time, they were great: Their Empires and Kingdoms sprawled over the lands far and wide, making great strides in science and culture. This is evident by the technology found in their old ruins.
| |
| 10 | ||
| 11 |
Their downfall is not clear, however. Some speculate that the Ancients were wiped out by a great plague or genocide - either by the hands of other early mortals or by the Dragons, perhaps even a combined force. Others speculate that it was the wrath of the Gods that ended them.
| |
| 12 | ||
| 13 |
Recently, there has been proof that the Ancients coincided with early Humans and Elves. The early Humans and Elves had no written languages at this time, and there are very few oral accounts that have managed to be recorded, but some scholars believe that there is evidence that suggests these Humans and Elves were in service or enslaved by them, though it is an unpopular theory.
| |

| 16 |
The Dragons: | |
| 17 | In contrast to the Ancients, whose origins are a mystery, the Dragon’s origins are widely credited to the Diety Saviesa, though there has been no recorded answer from her. In their time, they too were great: it is believed they were creatures blessed by the entire pantheon, and as such they patrolled the sky, protecting their divine secrets.
| |
| 18 | ||
| 19 |
No one knows the exact fate of the Dragons. Some claim to have found large bones all over the Cordolan continent, while others swear upon the validity of recent sightings as proof of their survival. Although it is believed that Dragons are solitary beings, recent archeological findings suggest they might have had their own tribes or clans, as many skeletons were found in close proximity. Due to this recent discovery, some scholars believe a Civil War might have caused its extinction.
| |
| 20 | ||
| 21 |
There is some evidence that suggests the Dragons outlived the Ancients, as many of the prehistoric art, as well as some surviving oral poety, depicts some sort of interaction. Most of these accounts claim them to be “clever and wise”, as well as ferocious and powerful warriors, as they are portrayed in a dual perspective of respect and fear.
| |

| 24 |
These two beings have been the focus of many diligent scholars throughout history, as well as today, and we can only hope that they break new grounds to give us more insight as to what ultimately happened to them.
|
