+    ◦ growing up, naeun's life definitely was not easy. it wasn't as if she struggled or anything in life, in fact it was quite the opposite. she just had to deal with the fact that she was the youngest child of four, and therefore had a lot of expectations to uphold. her parents didn't baby her, or treat her as if she was the most special thing in the universe. they'd already had three kids already, and had been through all of that. growing up, naeun wasn't as close with her parents, due to the fact that her father was always travelling for work, and her mother worked long hours as a secretary. she was basically brought up by the nanny her parents employed, until her oldest sister, nari, was old enough to look after them all while their parents were at work. naeun was always closest to her sister, nayoung, which might have been due to the fact that they were closer in age. kayoing was only three years older than her, which different to the 4 year age gap between naeun and her brother, namjun, and the 6 year gap between naeun and nari. being the youngest, naeun was always expected to live up to her siblings achievements. she knows deep down that her parents really care for her, even if they don't show it very much. just before she started high school, her father was transferred for his job, and the whole family (minus nari and namjun, who were old enough to live on their own) picked up and moved to seoul, which is where naeun met her best friend.

+    ◦ it is extremely difficult to describe naeun in just one single word. she is honestly a total nutcase most of the time, despite looking calm and collected on the outside. she has a tendency to be overly dramatic, and make a big deal about things that really aren't. she always blows things way out of proportion, but she really does not need to. she just feels the need to exaggerate slightly so people with actually listen to what she's saying. she is an extremely fussy person, to the point of frustration of those around her. she is a picky eater, and is very specific about what she will eat and what she won't. she's also picky when it comes to clothes, if she doesn't like it, there is no way in hell she will wear it, no matter how hard you try and convince her too. once she's made up her mind, there is no going back, you'd have better luck talking to a wall. naeun is also a naturally loud person, and does not understand the concept of an inside voice. she can always be heard talking really loudly about things, even if the person she is talking to is only about thirty centimetres away from her. she is an honest person, and always speaks what is on her mind. she has an hair of innocent honesty, in the way that she is always extremely blunt, but moots the time she never really means to intentionally hurt or upset other people. naeun is extremely horrible with technology, and is the type of person that could probably figure out how to accidentally blow up everything on a ten mile radius if left alone in a room full of buttons. she can barely use her own phone past calling and texting people, and has no computer skills whatsoever, despite the fact that she took multiple computing classes at school (all of which she failed). she is an absentminded person, and has a habit of forgetting things a lot, like where she left her homework, her keys, or even her phone. she is a regular at the local phone store due to the amount of times she goes in there because she's either lost or broken her phone by accident. she can be a bit of a possessive person, especially when it comes to what she believes is hers. if she doesn't like you, you will know from the evil looks she sends you whenever you walk in a room. she might never actually voice her dislike, or get into verbal fights, she prefers to just glare at you from the sidelines. she can also be extremely possessive over her best friend, and she doesn't like it when people get too close to him (a.k.a his girlfriend). she can hold grudges for a        r e a l l y  long time. once you get into her bad books, it takes a lot to get out of them. naeun is also very good at reading people. you may not even need to voice anything, before she's managed to tell exactly what you're feeling from the expression on your face, or your body language. she will always try and offer the best advice she can give (which often isn't very good advice anyway). naeun is however the type of person to put her friends before herself, despite all of this. she is extremely selfless, particularly when it comes to her best friend. even though she believes she's in love with him, she refuses to tell him. she isn't the type to try and ruin his happiness, no matter how much it hurts her. she doesn't know the true meaning of love, despite the fact that she's been throwing the phrase "i love you" around for ages.

     ◦ they met back when naeun first moved to seoul back when she first started high school. since they lived on the same street, he bumped into her (literally) while they were both walking to school on her first day. he introduced herself, but he didn't really speak to her once they got to school, instead choosing to go off and find his friends. after that, they just seemed to keep bumping into each other more often, mostly because they both seemed to have the same habit of going on midnight snack runs at the 24 hour store on the corner of their street. they also started to walk to school a lot more, and soon enough, they were best friends, and acted as if they'd known each other their whole lives.

     ◦ they've been best friends for over five years now, after meeting during their high school years, since they're around the same age. it didn't take long for naeun to develop feelings for him, however, she was completely shattered when he came running to her all happy right after asking out his girlfriend of now two years.

     ◦ since he's a relatively friendly person who finds it easy to strike up conversations with people, he thoughts that naeun was a very quiet person the first time they met, which was probably because she was about to become the new girl. he also thought that she was an innocent and calm person who mostly kept to herself. it was only later that he found out she was almost the complete opposite.

     ◦ she thought he was a friendly guy, and decided that he was the type of person she wanted to befriend. at first she was sort of nervous around him, since she was the new girl at the time, and didn't really know act around him. however, if she'd known how much pain he'd cause her, she probably would've spared herself, and wouldn't have bothered trying to become friends with him.
 
 
 HOW DOES HE ACT AROUND HER |
     ◦ well, to him, she's his best friend, so of course he is very comfortable around her. he loves to tease her, and just talk to her. he never has any problems just coming up to her and starting conversations at the most random things, varying from the price of movie tickets, to the affair he thinks is happening between the chemistry professor and literature professor. he often goes to her house just to talk to her (or even sometimes drops by her workplace), and he is the type to sit there patiently while she does her homework just to talk to her when he's done. despite having a girlfriend, he always makes sure he has time for her. he is slightly cocky around her, which is probably due to the amount of teasing he does, and he never feels the need to tread on eggshells while he's around her. she's seen him at his best and at his worst, so he's got nothing more to hide from her. people don't notice this, but he is also very protective over her, to the point of threatening people who so much as think of doing anything to her. of course, it's in a strictly platonic way, right?
 
 
 HOW DOES SHE ACT AROUND HIM |
     ◦ she's been stuck in the friend zone for the three years that she's been in love with him, and has been in complete agony in the year and a half he's been dating kang yoona. she, of course, tries her absolute best to just ignore all of this, and pretend that there's nothing wrong and that they're still best friends. however, that doesn't stop the pain in her heart, and how much she wishes her would look at her the way he looks at yoona. as his best friend, she knows that she has to be supportive, so she never says anything bad about yoona (to his face, at least) and never complains about her. instead, she just smiles at his teasing, and ignores the way her heart flutters. she savours any skinship he initiates, which is usually only friendly hugs, or pinky promises, but she won't bother denying to herself that she lets her pinky linger around his for as long as she can. she still does her best to keep as close to her as possible, as she really does not want to loose him as a friends, but at the same time she's trying not to let him in too close, incase he figures out that she's got a crush on him.

     ◦ at the beginning, their both friends. that's all they've ever been, and it's never even crossed him mind to think of her otherwise. especially not when he's managed to find himself a girlfriend. naeun is determined not to ruin their relationship because of her feelings, knowing that she might just lose him forever, a chance she is not willing to take, so instead, she ignores them, and tries to convince herself that she's content with just being friends, like they've always been. which of course, means no romantic skinship, no flirting, and no staring at him when he's not looking (the last one is easier said than done).

     ◦ there's a bit of strain on their relationship towards the middle, not that he seems to pick up on it at all. he is completely oblivious to inner conflict that naeun is facing because of her feelings towards him, and he still oblivious to the fact of how badly he's managed to friend zone her without actually meaning to. however, despite the pain that naeun is in, she still continues to pretend that everything is fine between them, and that she doesn't have feelings for him. she sits their and acts like a best friend would, talking to ungodly hours of the night about the most random things ever. despite the obvious tension between the two, that her friends have started to pick up on, naeun ignores for the sake of keeping her best friend.

     ◦ at the end, naeun is upset, and she feels cheated. she just wants a happy ending, like every single disney princess got. call her selfish, but she's been crushing on him badly for three years, is it so wrong that she desperately wishes that she was his girlfriend? it gets to the point where she cannot take it anymore, and accidentally blurts out that she loves him (which happens to be around the same time that he was going through a rough patch with yoona), and then proceeds to avoid him like the plague for two weeks. she believes that she's in love with him, even though she's not exactly sure what love is. she's no longer sure if true love really exists, because if true love did exist, would use really be hurting this much because of the boy she loves?
