Summary: After the encounter with Dani, Kiva has become far more seclusive and wary of anyone around her. While her attitude has kept most in Mercy Hospital away from her, one Gregory Zivaku isn't as easily repelled.

The silence was beautiful in Kiva Warwick's small, private hospital room, it was symbolic for the uneventful, which was what Kiva preferred. Nobody to sneak up on her, nobody to lie about needing assistance, then stabbing her in the back. Yes, she was content to stay in this room until the COG got tired of her taking up space. Then she could go back to solitary survival, that's how she survived. How she always would survive until death took her. Though that death wouldn't be from anything other than a Locust soldier. No, never another human. They couldn't be trusted, others need to survive too, and they'll do anything to get rid of the competition. Everyone was an enemy, but Kiva never attacked first. No, she wasn't a crazy person, let the crazies attack first. Kill them. Self defense. It was just self defense, kept her conscience clean. Paul would have wanted that.

Kiva then gave her head an abrupt shake, she was letting her mind wander. Too many chances for people to sneak up if she didn't stay focused. With unblinking eyes, she kept her eyes fixed on the doorway, her hand resting on the machete that lay unsheathed on the drawer beside her bed.

Footsteps. They came toward the door, and stopped. The door did not move for a few seconds as the person seemed to think about what to do, and finally a response.

Knock. A male voice. One in the late teens, early twenties roundabout. "It's me. I'm alone, I promise. Yes or no, can I come in?"
16
17
That voice, it was Greg, Gregory Zivaku, Could he come in? She wanted to say no, to tell him to leave her alone. But she couldn't quite bring herself to do that after all he had done for her. He practically saved her life, by all rights, she owed him a debt, though he never seemed like the person who would be interested in that. Well, if he didn't want a debt, then Kiva owed him nothing.

Another shake of the head, not true. He might be trustworthy, shorter knife though, but he wouldn't stab her in the back after saving her life, right? Unless he was using that as a cover to get close, maybe cut her throat in her-

Yet another shake of the head. She'd reached a compromise. He could come in, but he'd stay away from her.

"...Yes."

"I'm going to open the door. Please don't be alarmed." The door opened. Very, very slowly it opened, and he walked in. Those same blue and white clothes. That same cape. The latter he often used just to help keep others warm. He cleaned it regularly. He had been here for about a week, just to make sure she was okay. On his own, though he was sure his family and loved ones could deal without him. Having an ally wasn't all bad, and he knew she could probably use someone to trust.

He walked over to a table, picking up a clipboard and a few pieces of paper and a pen, giving them to her. "You can show me what you want to tell me. It's easier on your throat," he said, knowing it was obvious, but also wanting to explain himself. He took the wooden chair nearby, and pulled it over to her, sitting down in it. Then he asked.

"How are you feeling? Are you willing to talk today?"
