I worked as a research analyst and trader in a quantitative trading group that traded equity pairs deploying statistical arbitrage. My job consisted of executing trades for portfolio managers, working with programmers and quants to better refine the model, identify any problems in our algorithm, do research on market forces that can affect our portfolio, recommend ways to manage our risk, backtest equity pairs using different parameters, as well as hedge highly volatile positions through ETFs and index futures. In 2011 I led the team in making major changes to our strategies, in response to the Eurozone debt crisis and U.S. debt ceiling negotiations and the ensuing market volatility that followed..
