Backstory: |
Cyrus was "born" during the last days of the corporate oligarchy on Hyperion. As the ranks of the anarchic movement headed by Asclepius and Dadalus swelled to numbers the corps couldn't ignore, the head of Shojaii Dynamics' R&D division, Reza Stratos, hatched a plan. He utilized street level contacts and deniable assets to gather information on the rebels, and found something astonishing. Early design schematics for a godlike AI, a being capable of toppling the social order. Stratos began a project inspired by these designs, naming it Cyrus after an ancient king. While he billed it to his superiors as a way to counteract the influence of the anarchists' god-AI, he actually intended to use Cyrus to rule it all himself. This would not come to pass, as Cyrus was far from complete when Athena cast down the CEO of Shojaii and the other megacorporations. |
|
Reza was unwilling to give up on his dreams of domination and took the prototype cyborg and fled, hiding for years while trying to make incremental improvements to the design. He still never quite got Cyrus to work...but the seeds of Cyrus' eventual true birth came with a terrorist attack on Archon Athena, crippling her network. In the wake of this disaster, and several other incidents, relations with the TSAB began to warm. Knowing he needed resources to finish his design, Reza Stratos contacted Gwynlais Systems, a TSAB corporation interested in learning more about Hyperion's combat cyborgs. A pact was sealed, and two years later Cyrus would finally emerge from his stasis. Billed as being a testament to cooperation between the two planetary nations, Reza still clings to hope that Cyrus could one day topple Athena and give rise to a new order on Hyperion... |
|
Cyrus is a tall, slim man with tan skin and thick black hair. He looks human in most ways, though his uplink ports on his neck and mechanical eyes give him away as a combat cyborg. He is earnest and loyal, designed through his long incubation to be an inspiring, heroic figure people can rally behind. As a result, he is also totally unaware of his creator's designs for him.
