| Across the street from the Central Police Station, Los Angeles

| - | [Starts WHILE he is surveying the evidence {so we can avoid saying the word "semen" in the forum}] |
| + | A crashed Chevy Styleline was against the billboard high above the street. Cracked windshield, a pair of torn ladies' underpants and a purse on the back. |
| ||
| LAPD officers were all around, but only one detective was truly active at the crash site, along with the mostly bald Coroner Malcolm Carruthers, who had just explained that he was going to test the underpants at his lab.
| ||
| The detective, one Cole Phelps of the Traffic desk, took a one-page letter out of the purse addressed to one "Jessica Hamilton", apparently a fifteen year old girl, and began looking it over. The detective was in a brown, pinstripe, three-piece suit, with a brown fedora on his head and a white undershirt, along with a red tie. He had blue eyes and fair skin. His partner, in a brown suit with a darker brown fedora, was Stefan Bekowski, who was surveying the area aside from the car, but hadn't found anything.
| ||
| Phelps spoke to the coroner. "She's a long way from home." As he put away the letter, he turned to Carruthers. "Drunk driver?"
| ||
| "Maybe not." | |
| ||
| "How so?" | |
| ||
| The coroner handed what appeared to be a dark, shrunken head to Phelps. "Well a head without a body peaked my interest. See what you think."
| ||
| Phelps couldn't resist, laughing a bit as he took it in his right hand, holding it up dramatically and gesturing as if in a theater. "'Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio.'" He finally lowered it, looking around to see if anyone aside from Carruthers had seen. Bekowski just shook his head in disbelief, but the others didn't seem to notice. He looked back to the coroner. "...is it real?"
| ||
| A few seconds of patient silence, smiling just a bit.
| ||
| "...No." | |
