Detailed Summary: A Lone Hunter, without friends, without a drive to go any higher in life, is one day issued a challenge by one of his peers to join him on a hunt for a Rathian, with him merely delivering some of its eggs. Things quickly escalate, however, as a third hunter trying to hunt the dreaded Rathalos is thrown into the mix, turning their quests into a double trouble against two fierce wyverns at once. The trio overcome this challenge by the skin of their teeth and set sail for home in victory. Their happiness is short-lived however, because somewhere in the chaos the Lone Hunter accidentally takes the wrong eggs, raiding a Kushala Daora's nest instead of the Raths'. Now a band of Elder Dragons is descending down on the city of Dondruma, threatening to tear the city and its populace apart at the seems. As they wreak havoc, the trio are confronted by the dragons's leader, a Rusted Kushala Daora. In a fierce rage it blasts them all away hard, and the Lone Hunter's friend sacrifices himself in order to save the others. On the dawn of the next day, the Lone Hunter vows to avenge his friend, and sets out to hunt the Rusted Kushala Daora with the help of the other hunters of the city. Spoiler: He fucking wins in the end using the power of friendship. |

Master Tool and other vendors shilling wares and services. Hunters, civilians, merchants, Aptonoth-pulled carts carrying materials, large bustling city. | |

Camera hones in on Guild Hall, many hunters wearing armor sets from across the games. Pub-like atmosphere. Tests of strength, dick measuring, drinking, eating, other merriment. Camera focuses on same hunter as opening hunt, walking alone through a sea of people detached from himself. |
|
Lone Hunter (LH) comes back from quest. Hands over bag of Velociprey Fangs, collects money. Is perfectly content with doing the crappy starter quests because they're easy and net him livable income. Expresses no motivation to move up the ranks or fight harder monsters, gets laughed at by everybody else. Another hunter (RH), wearing Rathalos armor and carrying the iconic Lacerator Blade on his back starts picking on him. Establishing shot showing difference between the two in terms of armor and weapons, RH slightly taller and buffer than LH for seniority. |
|
Atmosphere becomes tense, staredown. Guild Maid breaks it up before it gets worse. RH issues challenge: LH deliver Wyvern Eggs while he goes hunt the mother, can sit by and "watch how a real hunter does things" after eggs are delivered. LH takes it to make everybody else quit butting into his business. |
|
Montage: Both Hunters make preparations. Sorting Item Pouches, sharpening weapons, eating, and such. RH says goodbye to many of the hunters in Guild Hall. LH has nobody, RH notices. |
|
Scene: Onto Dondruma's city gates. Nighttime. LH and RH walking towards transport, a basic airship. |
|
RH asks if LH said goodbye to any of his friends in the Hall. Can't get anything out of it, LH doesn't know why he's asking. RH states "there's no greater weapon in this world than the one you call 'friend'". He has hunted with many of the Guild Hall hunters in the past and gained their respect not by hunting the greatest monsters, but by being the greatest ally. |
|
Airship takes off. RH says it'd be best to rest up for the journey. Change to interior, bedroom. LH lies down in bed, staring at ceiling. Shows how alone he is even in bed. Falls to sleep, slow fade to black. |
