+» | background: born as the eldest of a pair of twins, (delivered two minutes and three seconds exactly before her brother) siyu grew up in zhejiang, china, for the majority of her life. the pair's parents weren't exactly the most thoughtful, and usually spent more time trying to make money then actually with their children. their father was a wealthy businessman who rarely was even home, often being carted off to exotic countries for fancy business meetings left and right. their mother was always working the night (and day, if you really thought about it) shifts at the hospital, frequenting the er, and often was too tired to do anything on the offchance that she was allowed to go home. as a result, the two siblings grew EXTREMELY close, pracitcally sticking together as if they were siamese and ajoined at the hip. in 2015, after entering his final year of high school, siyu's brother decided on a whim to audition for sm's global auditions after hearing his friends bragging about how they were trying out too. she was supportive of him, and cheered him on while he prepared -- she literally wept with joy when she found out he had been added on as a trainee. ending their final year of secondary education, their parents allowed them to move to korea, barely visiting yet still funding their apartment. since she had been young, siyu had always had a passion for performing anything, which is what pushed her to audition for sm too once they had moved to korea. walking into the audition room and barely being able to speak even the simplest line of english was hard enough, but she was determined, and apparently the company could see that because they signed her too. her brother and her became part of what was known as 'smrookies,' and she became extremely close to the other trainees during the time. after a year and a half of training, her brother finally debuted with nct 127, and it was one of siyu's happier moments in life. but when netizens found out sicheng had a twin sister, and that she was a trainee at the same exact company as him, the rumors began. nasty words about how she was allowed into sm because she bribed her way in spread around, about how if she debuted, her group would only be known because she was roaching off of her brother's fame. determined to prove the accusations wrong, she left the company almost immediately, opting for a lesser known one where nobody would be able to say she "roached off of her brother's fame" when she was able to debut, and boy did she prove them wrong.

+» | personality: the first thing that comes to mind when you see siyu is, honestly, a bitch. she has a face that would send anyone running for the hills simply because how blank her expression is can be unnerving in more than one way. she's the type who makes you feel uncomfortable in her vicinity, and most assume that, just like THE BITCH, she's really, well, bitchy. (her charismatic stage presence doesn't do anything to help her case.) if you really got to know her, though, you'd be able to tell immediately that she's one of the cliched cases of "don't judge a book by its cover." underneath her facade, siyu's literally just a small and precious little child who doesn't know how to act in basically any situation. her most defining characteristic is her fear of anything. and when i say anything, i truly mean ANYTHING. dolls, bugs, books, loud noises, bright lights -- if someone were to list it all, they'd be stuck there forever. a repercussion of her fear of everything would, obviously, be how she acts when faced with those things. the way she chooses to handle it is actually not that surprising: tears are her chosen outlet for practically all her emotions, not simply fear. if she's really happy, she'll probably burst into tears; if she's feeling particularly anxious, a small droplet will end up rolling down her cheeks; and of course, even if she's not doing anything that would cause her to emote, you'll probably find her crying. honestly, it's more scary when she's not crying than when she is. one of the most entertaining things about siyu is how she doesn't even realize the extent of her extra-ness. it's hilariously comedic to see her exaggerate things (which she does WAY more than she should, especially when trying to justify her endless tears) which is why the fans have dubbed her, unanimously, the "drama queen" of the group. when she's really happy (and not shedding tears) she has this signature "siyu cackle" (named so by THE LOUD AND BRASH) that's basically just a little kid's giggle. it's almost always something that lifts the mood of the group, and nobody really knows why. as called by THE GRUMP, she's literally just a hot mess. her emotions are always everywhere, exuding from every pore on her body plus some more, and it's even worse when you realize she really... doesn't know how to deal with them. the one thing siyu despise more than anything is being under the spotlight alone. sure, she might be an idol and, to some extent, used to the bright flashes of cameras wherever she goes, but she cannot handle being singled out, and it's painfully ironic because her reactions are so amazingly amusing that when on variety shows, the hosts can't help but single her out. overall, she's just a giant enigma, the type of person to sit and stare quietly for a while, showing the "cool and chic" persona until the second someone sits down next to her and surprises her, causing the facade to break and leaving her shrieking like a banshee as she runs around in a way similar to that of a headless chicken.

 » | how they act on stage: on stage, siyu is basically a different person. while performing, she's, well, sexy as fuck and nothing like you've ever seen before. she body rolls like there's no tomorrow, regardless of whether the choreography includes it or not, and definitely has a way of attracting all the attention to herself. when she notices people have their eyes on her, rather than shying away like she would normally, she sends smirks and winks left and right, blinding people with how truly beautiful she is. altogether, the aura she exudes while on the stage is something so strong it basically makes you want to melt into a puddle of mush and never revert back again.
 
 » | how they act in public: basically the opposite of how she is on stage, she attempts to draw all attention away from her in any way possible. whenever she's walking in a group of people in the presence of photographers (aka always) she always worms her way into the middle, stay smack dab in the center of the throng so those around her are seen more than she is. it's times like those where her short height are a major advantage, especially when she's given the opportunity to cower behind her members -- usually either THE GRUMP or THE OVERLY KIND. she avoids speaking, basically, and lets others do the talking for her as she just sits there and nods along, until there's something that scares her (which there always is) and she'll scream or, at the very least, yelp quietly, in hopes of keeping a sliver of decency. more often than not, when siyu's in public, her eyes are wide orbs glinting with fear, wonder, or a combination of the two.

 » | how they met: it was around the time that the company was trying to decide who to place in andro, and they had gather a group of a bunch of their trainees to wait, not knowing what exactly was happening. siyu was panicking like one would, pacing around and close to tears (as if that was anything new.) she decided the best way to calm herself was to drink some water, because fluids are important children, and so she was jittery and bouncing around with a paper cup full of ice cold water... yeah, never a really good combination, especially when it's siyu. so, of course in a way that only siyu could accomplish, she "accidentally" tripped over a chair leg that had somehow moved into her way, falling dramatically and in slow motion upon the lap of one of the tall af trainees who looked ready to murder everyone present. the water she was holding in her hands spilled all over him and woke him from the nap he was taking, causing him to give her the stink eye,,, so obviously she burst into tears.

   ↝ BEG | siyu's highkey afraid of him and doesn't want to die, so she ends up running in the opposite direction every time she sees him. her fears are only amplified as she hears rumors about how grumpy he is, and how "his stare has brought even alex to his knees." (of course, she should've been able to see through that lie.) their first encounters are basically filled with her comically bursting into tears and running around as if she's on fire.
   ↝ MID | by this point, she's,,, sort of,,, realized that he's no that bad (or at least, towards her wiNK wonk.) she's extremely tentative to be around him, but being in the same group and sharing a dorm together has its bonding impacts, and she begins to become more and more comfortable around him. of course, comfortable is a loose term because her random episodes of tears and shrieks have definitely not stopped.
   ↝ END | it's literally like a miracle has happened by now, and nobody can believe it. at all. suddenly, siyu's actually acting like a normal person, and has reached the point where she doesn't feel the need to shed a tear every other sentence. in fact, it's like THE GRUMP has rid her of all her emotional problems as well as her fears.

   ↝ BEG | honestly at first he has to physically stop himself from attempting to strangle her, especially when they first meet. he's all for her running away whenever she sees him (and in fact, finds it mildly amusing because he's not THAT scary, is he?) because, obviously, that means that that's less chances for her to annoy him or start crying and wiping her snotty nose on him, like she did the first time they encountered each other. but when one of the other members points out that she almost pissed her pants at the thought of being in the same room as him, he feels slightly bad because,,, well, her eccentric behavior is actually quite endearing.
   ↝ MID | he's realized that he doesn't want her to cower in fear every time they see each other, and begins to try and make an effort to be amiable -- which is a lot of an effort for someone who genuinely doesn't give a fuck. his endeavors are extremely subtle, so subtle that only one particularly astute member realizes the difference in his attitude towards siyu ( aka THE BITCH.) and, as he tries to get to know her more, she does the same, and they start to work their way towards opening up and becoming good friends anD MORE lol
   ↝ END | i'm not even going to lie, at this point he is SO FUCKING SOFT WITH HER. if she asks him to do anything for her, he practically melts and is willing to -- he'd fling himself off a cliff if it made her happy in the end, because he's so whipped he doesn't care what happens to him as long as he's content. when the members start to notice that she's practically a different person around him, and how,,, open she is, he's always beaming with pride because it's proof that she's just as whipped as he is, and he takes pride in being hopelessly in love, even if it makes him a "wimp."
