+ | DNP guide

|
GENERAL INFO |
- | DNP is a chemical that does not occur in nature. Historically, it has served many purposes. It has been used to make herbicides, explosives, and works as an industrial dye. It can be also used for rapid fat loss.
+ | 2,4-Dinitrophenol (DNP) is an inhibitor of ATP production in cell's mitochondria. It does that by uncoupling a metabolic pathway called oxidative phosphorylation, resulting in energy loss by heat production. It is used as a dieting aid, and might be the strongest fat-loss agent known to date. This guide will try to provide a safe guideline for using DNP responsibly, and will try to debunk some of the most popular myths revolving around the consumption of DNP.
|
- | - DNP is by far the most potent fat loss agent available. Nothing even comes close to comparing. Not clen, alb, EC, yohimbine, nothing.
+ | USAGE GUIDELINE
- | - DNP is by far the most dangerous drug available to dieters.
+ |
- | - DNP increases your metabolism. One animal study showed a 64% increase in metabolism. The rate of metabolic increase is dose dependent. Formula: (dose/10)%, after full saturation.
+ | Dosage/length
- | - The primary side effect is heat. Another notable side effect is lethargy. The intensity of the heat, sweating, and lethargy is dose dependent.
+ | - Dosages should be spread as evenly as possible, taken along with food.
- | - If you overdose, you will absolutely 100% positively die.
+ | - Dosages vary from person to person and from the desired effect. A commonly advised dosage is 2-6mg per kg of body mass (estimated LD50 20-50mg/kg), though there are many experienced users that have tried more and survived. Beginners are advised to start at the lower end of the spectrum as the estimated half-life* is 36h and it takes up to 5 days for the dnp to accumulate into your bloodstream and for full side-effects to be present.
- | - DNP allows you to lose 1lb of pure fat every 1-3 days depending upon your dose.
+ | - The length of the cycle again depends on the desired effects, but 3-4 weeks should be relatively safe for a healthy adult male taking the dosages recommended above.
|
- | MORE INFO
+ |
- | - Consuming carbs will increase the intensity of the heat for 1-3 hours afterwards.
+ | Diet
- | - DNP is usually capped as either crystal or powder. Figure out which you have. 250mg crystal = 187.5mg powder
+ | - Because of it's muscle-sparring properties, a low deficit can be sustained during the cycle for optimal results (1000-1300 kcals below TDEE).
- | - DNP will cause temporary water retention and glycogen depletion, making you look bloated with flat muscles (really great look). Within one week of cessation, this should be gone.
+ | - It is worth mentioning that even if you eat at your normal maintenance, you will still lose fat due to your raised BMR. According to estimates from empirical evidence gathered, DNP can raise your BMR up to 60-70%, so your normal maintenance kcals will be a deficit while on a cycle. You will obviously lose less fat this way, and the heat generated will be greater.
- Many macronutrient ratios have been discussed. DNP is muscle-sparring, meaning you won't be needing the amount of protein you would normally need on a cut. That being said, my personal advice would be to follow a normal cutting diet of a high-protein/low-fat/low-carb** ratio. The reason I suggest this is that eating less carbs will reduce the heat, and if you are following an extremely low deficit eating some extra protein doesn't seem like a bad idea. But a diet with moderate protein/low carb**/ moderate fat ratio would also be fine. |
- | RULES FOR USE
+ | - Drinking lots of water should be a no-brainer, but I will mention it either way. You can easily get dehydrated on DNP, even during your sleep. Make sure never to neglect drinking water, especially during hot days/workouts/before sleep. A good idea would be to replenish electrolytes too, which will be discussed in the supplements section.
- A good fiber intake is important on DNP, since it can cause diarrhea which in turn can cause dehydration. A great source of fiber is all-bran cereal, with 100g covering around 70% of your daily needs. |
- | - It's recommended not to take DNP on an empty stomach. This may cause nausea and vomiting in some users. Experiment with it. If you vomit while on DNP, it is recommended you discontinue use and focus on properly rehydrating for AT LEAST 24 hours.
+ | - Taking a multivitamin and fish oil can always be a good idea, especially when a low deficit will not let you take the ideal dosage of all vitamins and EPA/DHA you need per day.
- | - If you're using a dose above 500mg/day, drink at least 3 liters (1 gallon) of water per day, more if you're sweating profusely. DNP blunts thirst. Be sure to get electrolytes and potassium in as well. V8 juice is a good source for this.
+ |
- | - Consuming an isocaloric diet at maintenance calories is standard practice. Eating pineapple is recommended for it’s fructose and digestive enzymes.
+ | Exercise
- | - ALWAYS start your first cycle at 200mg(powder) or 250mg(crystal) per day, then increase after 4 days OR keep it that way for the whole cycle.
+ | - You might find it hard to stick to your normal exercise program due to the excess heat and fatigue. Some loss of strength is normal, though not always present. It is advised that whatever you do, you make sure that you don't overheat and that you don't dehydrate. Weight lifting is recommended for strength maintenance and raising your TDEE. Cardio is also allowed, as long as you don't overheat your body. A personal recommendation would be to avoid high intensity cardio on dosages higher than 400mg/day, and stick with low intensity cardio workouts. The effects of DNP are already strong enough, 30 minutes of running won't make a considerable difference to your fat-loss. Your main goal in your workouts should be strength maintenance.
- | - Risk of serious long term side effects increases along with dose and length of administration. Keep the cycle length under 3 weeks, especially if using a dose above 500mg/day.
+ |
- | - Don't drink alcohol or YOU WILL DIE.
+ |
- | - Don't take more than 1 gram per day or YOU WILL DIE.
+ |
- | - Don't overheat or YOU WILL DIE.
+ |
- | - Don't go into a sauna or YOU WILL FOR SURE DIE.
+ |
- | - If you start feeling pins and needles in your extremities (hands/feet), they appear bloated and swollen and you start losing sensitivity, you got PN: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peripheral_neuropathy
+ | SUPPLEMENTS
- | - Drop DNP and blast NAC for a few weeks. Switch to a pure ketogenic diet (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gZfJejOM8fJsX1iCilmnpp1qmT_KncJwWCR4-EsaEHc/edit?pli=1) and keep it until the symptoms of PN are gone. 6-8 months later you should be able to use DNP again
+ | Recommended:
- | - Keep an anti-histamine on hand (ex: Benadryl). If you start getting hives/rashes on your first cycle, get off DNP and blast Benadryl for a couple weeks. After that, take 2 weeks of pause, then start cruising the anti-histamine about 3 days before starting with DNP and continue it all the way through the cycle, until 1 week after the last DNP pill.
+ | - N-acetylcysteine (NAC) 600mg/day: has been shown to prevent nerve damage and to have therapeutic potential for neuropathy [1] [2]
- Vit C 2-3g/day: antioxidant, prevents damage from free radicals |
- | Supplements (daily):
+ | - Vit E 500-1000UI/day: antioxidant
- | - 2g Vitamin C (antioxidant)
+ | - Milk-thistle (silymarin) 1g/day: antioxidant, prevents liver damage from toxic factors and promotes liver healing [3]
- | - 800iu Vitamin E (antioxidant)
+ | - Electrolyte solution: will help prevent/treat dehydration, may prevent damage done to the neuron's ion pumps due to electrolyte unbalance
- | - 1-2grams Pyruvate (may help prevent cataracts)
+ |
- | - 600mg NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) (liver support, may help prevent PN and cataracts)
+ |
Handy: |
- | Optional but recommended:
+ | - Melatonin: makes sleeping easier
- | - Potassium gluconoate (prevent cramping)
+ | - Multivitamin: mentioned above
- | - Magenesium (antioxidant)
+ | - Fish oil: mentioned above
- | - Taurine (prevent cramping)
+ | - Caffeine: provides an energy boost
- | - Grape seed extract (antioxidant)
+ |
- | - Selenium (antioxidant)
+ | Worth mentioning:
- | - Alpha Lipoic Acid (antioxidant)
+ | - Insulin: have seen two accounts of it recommended for nerve damage prevention, would not advise
- | - Melatonin (helps you sleep through night sweats)
+ |
|
- | HELPFUL TIDBITS
+ | SIDE-EFFECTS
|
- | - It is not recommended to take DNP during the summer or in a particularly warm climate
+ | Side effects will be present, and are dose dependent
- | - DNP has a 36 hour half life, meaning it accumulates in your system. Check out these graphs for a better understanding of blood concentrations and effect on BMR:

+ | Common:
- | - http://i.imgur.com/zy9v7gG.jpg
+ | - Excess heat, sweating
- | - When running a low dose, just because you do not feel the heat right away does not mean DNP is not working. It can take up to 5 days to build up in your system. Do not be impatient or aggressive. This is a dangerous drug.
+ | - Mild dehydration
- | - If you are a fat fuck and don’t know how to diet, DNP will not help you. Because once you’re off DNP and have lost weight, you will get fat again because you do not know how to eat and how your BMR changes with weight loss. Learn to diet properly through calorie counting and caloric deficit or DNP will just be a miserable waste of time for you.
+ | - Shortness of breath
- | - Other side effects may include sore/dry throat, insomnia, nausea, headaches, or even yellow vision (obviously if you get yellow vision then you need to stop fucking taking DNP). Most other side effects are a result of dehydration.
+ | - Yellow sperm/urine
- | - I’ve read online the fat to muscle loss ratio on DNP is 9:1 (not verified).
+ | - Nausea
- | - EC stack or YC stack can help combat lethargy
+ | - Fatigue
- | - Working out should be fine on low doses (200/250mg per day). At 400mg+, you will want to keep workouts short and sweet. Do not lift to failure. Reduce weight and volume if you need to. You will not grow on DNP.
+ | - Disturbed sleep pattern
- | - Cardio is recommended at low doses and optional at high doses
+ | - Diarrhea
- | - If you’re taking other medications, do your homework on possible drug interactions beforehand. This could save your life.
+ | -Tachycardia
|
Less-common: |
- | SAFETY INFO
+ | - Rash
- Tingling sensation in extremities |
- | Short term, DNP is extremely dangerous as an overdose can kill you very quickly and THERE IS NO ANTIDOTE. If you find yourself overheating beyond control, GET INTO AN ICE TUB AND CALL AN AMBULANCE so that paramedics can watch you die.
+ |
Rare: |
- | Long term, no one knows for sure how safe DNP is. Anyone who claims one way or another is lying or overextending data. No one studies DNP now because it is not approved for human use in almost any medicinal application.
+ | - Swelling
- Pain in extremities |
- | However, some ambitious people have put together a collection of all studies where DNP was involved. Many are old (1930s). These can reviewed in the resources links below. My personal take on the data is that short term, non-chronic use of DNP seems to pose little long term health risks. The primary concerns post-cycle are around cataracts and the impact of free radical spike as a result of extremely rapid fat oxidation. We can hope to mitigate these, at least in part, through proper supplementation.
+ | - Jaundice
- Cataracts |
- | WHY TAKE DNP?
+ |
Excess heat is the trademark side-effect of DNP, and it gets worse with bigger dosages and consumption of more carbs. In case of overheating, try to lower the body temperature by any means possible. Dehydration is the result of excess sweating, plenty of water and electrolytes should be ingested. Shortness of breath/yellow bodily fluids/fatigue/disturbed sleep patterns/diarrhea are all common side-effects, but not always present. |
- | You must weigh risk vs. reward. The answer is different for everyone. Personally, I made about 1 months progress in 6 days on 500mg/day crystal with 16/8 IF and yohimbine + caffeine in the morning. I had zero hormonal feedback (down regulation in natural anabolic hormones from prolonged calorie deficit). For fat loss, DNP is unbeatable.
+ |
If a rash appears, it means you are allergic to DNP. Rashes can appear late in the cycle, and usually don't appear in the next one. In case one appears, discontinue taking DNP and start taking an anti-histamine (Fexofenadine would be my recommendation, the old sticky recommended Benadryl). A tingling sensation might be an early sign of nerve damage, but many cases have been reported of people feeling a tingling sensation on DNP without it resulting to actual neuropathy. My recommendation would be to monitor it, if you see you get it at the same spot and/or it spreads/becomes more intense stop the DNP immediately and start taking 600mg/day of NAC for 6-8 weeks. |
|
- | EXCELLENT RESOURCES FOR READING
+ | Swelling and jaundice are both indicators of liver damage. Though liver damage is extremely rare, DNP is a toxin after all and may result in liver damage to people with already weakened livers. If any of the 2 present, discontinue taking DNP and continue taking milk-thistle. Visiting a doctor/having a liver enzyme blood panel done is also advised.
|
Pain in extremities indicates severe nerve damage, DNP use should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted. |
|
Cataracts is very rare in males, with a handful of recorded cases. It is more a more prevalent risk in females however, even though most reported cases of cataracts were of females taking DNP for many months. [4] |
|
|
CONTRAINDICATIONS/DRUG INTERACTIONS |
|
- | APPROVED SOURCES
+ | - DNP should be avoided by people predispositioned to cataracts/neuropathy/liver damage, and for some people (ex. diabetics) it should be taken with care. Since I cannot cover all interactions DNP has with different drugs, be sure to check yourself if DNP interacts with any of the medication you currently might be taking.
- Diuretics and alcohol shouldn't be ingested, due to resulting dehydration |
- Smoking is not advised due to shortness of breath |
- DNP potentiates the effects of insulin, dosages in diabetics should be decreased accordingly |

PERSONAL NOTES |
|
- DNP makes you feel numb and disoriented, so a good idea would be to take it on a period where you won't have many responsibilities as you most likely won't be able to perform optimally. |
- DNP will cause an increase in appetite. |
- Experiment with dosages/cycle lengths, and don't hesitate to stop the cycle early if you don't feel good. |
- DNP should be stored in a cool dry place, away from heat sources. |
- DNP in capped/tabbed form is extremely illegal, so be careful about who knows what you're taking and where you store it. |
- DNP powder is stronger than it's crystal form, aprox. 4:5 ratio |
- Like mentioned above, DNP takes up to 5 days to stack in your bloodstream. Do not up the dosage because you don't feel the effects on the first day, give it 4-5 days. |
- From personal experience, keeping yourself busy will take your mind off the heat. Listen to music, do some chores, play vidya, anything that helps you relax. |
- Feel free to add anything I forgot in this guide and I will review it. I made this in 3h, so there's a strong possibility I forgot to mention something that would be vital to a DNP novice. |
