The Seven Deadly Disastrous (Miraculous Ladybug)

The Seven Deadly Disastrous, or the Disastrous for short, are seven magical pieces of jewelry that act as prisons for ancient evils known as the Dhambi, those who are in possession of one of these Disastrous can use the powers of these dark and powerful entities but at a great price.

The Dhambi (named after the Swahili word for sin) are cosmic spirits/demons who embody the seven deadly sins, coming into existence when the sins were first expressed by mankind. The Dhambi are essentially anti-Kwami. The Dhambi were locked away in seven pieces of jewelry via a ritual many centuries ago that took place in Africa, in which multiple cultures around the world participated in with help from the Kwamis, so that the malevolent Dhambi wouldn’t spread disaster and destruction to the entire Earth. The Dhambi however can still seek out hosts that possess strong feelings of the sin that they embody, not unlike Lantern Rings of DC comics. Instead of small, floating creatures like Kwami, The Dhambi are massive monstrosities who communicate with their hosts through avatars similar to the Kwami in appearance, however, the silhouettes of the Dhambi’s true forms can be seen when looking into the jewels of the Disastrous. The Dhambi resemble demonic caricatures of the animals their Disastrous are based on.

Each Disastrous has a unique phrase the user must announce to activate their powers but the phrase to deactivate their powers is the same across all Disastrous, being the name of the Dhambi followed by “I Repent”. Unlike Kwami’s, the Dhambi view their users simply as hosts to do their bidding, using their powers to spread chaos on their behalf, and the more they use the Disastrous the less capable they are of fighting off the Dhambi’s control, it takes massive willpower to fight back the Dhmani’s overwhelming influence especially since using their power amplifies the intensity of one’s personal vices tenfold, thus further causing them to become prisoners of their own vices and lose sight of themselves. Eventually, once the Dhambi have enough control over their user, they will possess them, transform them into monstrous human/Dhambi hybrids and regain the full extent of their power once again! Although it takes time for the Disastrous to gain enough control of their hosts to possess, they can temporarily give their “user” the full extent of their power, which drastically accelerates and strengthens the Dhamb’s control over their user. This is activated by saying he name of the Dhambi and then saying “Awaken Your Power!”.

Each of the Dhambi and their respective Disastrous are as follows.


Mtzoa (pronounced Ma-Toe-Za): The Dhambi of Greed and of the Spider Disastrous, which is a ring consisting of two gold spiders clutching a black jewel. The Spider Disastrous gives the user the power to open portals to a pocket dimension known as “The Hoard” where they can enter and store items away as they please as well as summon whatever items within the Hoard they want at any time for use. Every item that past Spider Disastrous users have stolen for themselves still reside in the Hoard and future users can call upon and use them for their own purposes. The Awakened version of this power is that the portals become black holes that suck in absolutely anything caught in their vacuum, sending them to the hoard as well. The last Spider Disastrous user stowed away the six other Disastrous in a locked box within the Hoard in an attempt to keep the Disastrous from being used. The Spider Disastrous itself was kept in the Vatican archives for decades until one Gabriel Agreste, who’s increasingly desperate and intense coveting of the Miraculous was so strong that it gave Mtzoa enough energy to escape the Vatican and seek him out. Mtzoa means “collector” in Swahili.  The phrase to activate the Spider Disastrous is “Mtzoa, Greed is Good!”. The name Gabriel chose for his new form is Golden Widow and he gains a scythe for his weapon which can slice through anything and is used to open portals to The Horde. Mtzoa is a callous, calculating and manipulative being even for Dhambi standards and possesses an unquenchable greed and desire for whatever it is humans covet and desire the most whether it be gold and jewels or rare collectible toys. Although her one purpose is to spread as much chaos and destruction to the world just as it is for the rest of her Dhambi brethren, she also wishes to hoard all of the treasures and earthly delights of the world for her own. Mtzoa came into existence when the concept of “royalty” came into human social consciousnes, born from the idea that wealth and privilege dictate one’s worth and enough of it would make them “better” than others. Mtzoa is considered to be the most powerful of all the Dhambi.

Hamu: The Dhambi of Lust and of the Ram Disastrous which is a necklace with a pendant resembling a goat’s skull with curled horns and a blue jewel in it’s forehead. The Ram Disastrous gives the user the power to make any and everyone fall madly in love with them via a magical pheromone they exude, as well as a pheromone breath attack and pheromone laced kisses, reducing them into mindless slaves, minds clouded in lustful desire for the user and willing to do anything the user demands of them, allowing the user to amass their own loyal army of lovesick minions in moments. The Awakened version of this power is turning the user’s magic pheromone into something closer to a virus, those infected will turn into pink, zombie-like creatures with heart-shaped heads and holes in their chests in the shape of hearts, these zombified simps are ten times as strong, tough and mindlessly violent and the user can control them in any way they desire, such as combining multiple together into a colossal love zombie. The weapon that the holder uses is a whip that can extend to seemingly limitless lengths. The phrase to activate the Ram Disastrous is “Hamu, Lust is Love!”. After being released by Gabriel along with the other Dhambi, Hamu sought Marinette to be his holder, her increasing “interest” in the results of Adrien’s new workouts with his “bros“ clouding the true reasons why she loved him so as her love for him became a more physical one. Marinette, for a short time, became Aphrodisia and wanted to make Adrien her’s forever and ever. Hamu’s influence on her resulted in Tikki needing to seek out Adrien to become Mister Bug again and free Marinette from Hamu’s control. After Marinette successfully fought off Hamu and freed herself of his control by reminding herself of the difference between love and lust and why she fell in love with Adrien to begin with, Mister Bug tried to capture Hamu until he fled the scene in search for a new host. Hamu’s name comes from the Swahili word for “desire“ and he came into existence when the first human cheated on their significant other, destroying the love they had to satisfy their own basic, primal urges.

Maliki: The Dhambi of Gluttony and of the Frog Disastrous which takes the form of a keychain of a frog wearing a crown with a jewel on the center of it. The Frog Disastrous gives the user the power to bite/chew, ingest and digest virtually anything whether solid matter, liquid, gas or energy no matter the size, quantity or potential hazards it would normally cause. From there, the user can transform any part of their body into the thing they just devoured, eating a rock for example will turn their body into pure stone and the user can turn each individual section of their body into multiple things they have ingested at once, such as one arm into a machine gun, the other into a sword etc., the one downside is that the user can suffer from stomachaches and a swollen gut if they eat too much once. However this only applies to inedible matter as they are an insatiable, bottomless pit when it comes to actual food and drinks. The Awakened version of this power is transforming the user completely into a magic, orange slime capable of assimilating anything the user touches into their body and causing them to grow larger in size and mass they more matter they absorb, potentially tuning them into a massive, insatiable blob monster, they can also project globs of their slime to catch things and instantly retract these globs to assimilate what they caught. The weapon that the holder uses is a giant, golden trident-like dinner fork endowed with jewels. Upon being freed, Maliki chose Chloe Bourgeois as his holder, her ravenous need for attention and hunger for glory making her the perfect user in his eyes and Chloe was more than happy to accept if it meant she could have powers again and get back at Ladybug, becoming the regal and insatiable supervillain, Amphibiqueen. Ladybug and Chat Noir of course defeated Amphibiqueen but after trying to take the Frog Disastrous from her to lock it away, Chloe actually swallowed the Disastrous and ran off! Unaware of the disastrous consequences that would come from such as foolish and desperate act. The phrase to activate the Frog Disastrous is “Maliki, Let’s Eat!”. Maliki’s name comes from the Swahili word meaning royalty and he came into existence when the first human gluttonously ate more than what they really needed.

Kataili: The Dhambi of Rage and of The Elephant Disastrous which is a gold belt buckle shaped like the head of a furious looking elephant. The Elephant Disastrous gives the user superhuman levels of strength and durability significantly higher then even other Miraculous and Disastrous users, however the Elephant Disastrous’ main ability is to give the user the power to increase their muscle mass and size at will, greatly amplifying their strength and durability to monstrous levels as a result but at the cost of lowering their cognitive abilities, at full potential the user is reduced to a mindless, raging beast that cannot be stopped by combative means as they are nearly invulnerable to all damage and possess strength allowing them to level cities with ease. The user also possess unstoppable momentum, once they start charging most nothing can stop them. The Awakened version of this power is giving the user rage so powerful that their anger is concentrated into a blood red, magical lava capable of burning and melting anything it comes into contact with, that is except for human beings who instead, are transformed into rampaging, rage-filled lava creatures, the user can also spew this magic lava from their mouth, coat themselves in a layer of lava, form shapes and constructs from it and and melt objects just through touch. The user’s weapon is a crash helmet with tusk-like horns. The user is always in an irritated state when using this Disastrous and their emotional state worsens to rage as they amplify themselves. Kataili chose Ivan to be his holder, his growing anger towards Hawk Moth/Shadow Moth/Monarch/Gold Widow and wanting to get back at him for all the fear and strife he causes, especially towards Mylene leading Kataili straight to him. Thus becoming the wrathful brutalizer, Mammolith for a short time until his defeat at the hands of Ladybug, Chat Noir and Multimouse which resulted in the retrieval of the Elephant Disastrous and it being locked back away in the Disastrous Box, the first of the seven accursed charms to be so. The phrase to activate the Elephant Disastrous is “Kataili, Rage is Justice!”. Kataili‘s name is the Swahili word for cruelty and he came into existence from the first murder committed by a human.

Wivu: The Dhambi of Envy and of the Crow Disastrous which is a pair of earrings resembling the skulls of crows. The Crow Disastrous gives the user the power to steal the traits and attributes of other beings for themselves whether it be physical qualities, skills, memories or even supernatural abilities such as the powers/weaponry of the Miraculous and other Disastrous (much like Miraculer). The user can even steal the traits of animals and inanimate objects as well. The user can collect as many traits and abilities as they please and are able to use multiple abilities at once. The Awakened version of this power is the ability to simply create new powers and strengths however they please as well as a limitless degree of shapeshifting, allowing the user to transform into anything they can think of. The user’s weapon is a pair of two Kusarigama (small sickles connected to chains). The user also possesses the average augmented capabilities of a Disastrous but can stack these qualities by stealing them from others. Wivu is a somewhat unique Dhambi as it consists of two personalities inhabiting one body, their avatar being two Kwami-like beings representing the two minds while it’s true form being that of a massive, two-headed crow-like beast, these two personalities of the same entity tend to bicker a lot. Wives chose none other than Lila Rossi who’s growing, envious disdain of Marinette and Ladybug attracted them to her but it was her willingness to accept their power and a burning need to ruin the lives of the “two” people she envied is what convinced them that she would be the perfect host. Lila become the plague doctor-like villain, Lady Corvid who would also become a strong ally of Golden Widow. The phrase to activate the Crow Disastrous is “Wivu, I Want it All!”. Wivu‘s name comes from the Swahili word for jealousy and they came into existence when the first human being became envious of another and tried to take the object of their envy for themselves.

Kiburi - The Dhambi of Pride and of the Viper Disastrous which is a wristband resembling a gold and silver snake with a sapphire jewel adorned in it’s head that coils around the user’s wrist when worn. The Viper Disastrous gives the user complete invulnerability to any attack, magic or otherwise, as well as immunity to all things that might harm them otherwise such as disease, illusions, mind control etc. however, this invulnerability only lasts as long as the user possesses a high opinion of themselves, just one moment of self doubt or low self-esteem will leave them completely vulnerable, outside of their invulnerable state, the user possesses no offensive capabilities outside of the usual enhanced levels of strength, speed and agility. The Awakened version of this power is to spread their consciousness to others via a magical venom that also transforms those affected into perfect copies of the user as well, allowing the user to create an invulnerable army of themselves. The user’s weapon is a mirror shield that can absorb and redirect most attacks. Kiburi chose Audrey Bourgeois as her host, her ego and pride attracting her to Audrey like a moth to a flame, Audrey refused at first, seeing no real reason to have powers as it wouldn’t progress her fashion career any further but after being publicly humiliated and akumatized back into Golden Queen, she gladly accepted Kiburi‘s second offer, turning her into Queen Serpentine and having the powers of both the Viper Disastrous and Golden Queen made her a formidable foe but nothing that the combined efforts of Ladybug, Chat Noir, Viperion and Vesperia could handle. After Queen Serpentine’s defeat, the Viper Disastrous become the second Disastrous to be retrieved and locked back into the Disastrous Box, a massive blow to Kiburi’s ego. The phrase to activate the Viper Disastrous is “Kiburi, High and Mighty!”. Kiburi’s name comes from the Swahili word for pride and she came into existence when a human’s pride and narcissism was so great that it resulted in the suffering and strife of others and eventually lead to their own demise, Kiburi claims to actually remember the name of such a human, claiming that he was a hunter in ancient Greece going by the name Narcissus.

Kulala - The Dhambi of Sloth and of the Sloth Disastrous which is a silver pocket watch with a sloth engraved on the hunter case. The Sloth Disastrous gives the user the power to project purples rays and waves of energy that puts any of those hit by them into a permanent sleep, a purple “dream cloud” will then appear over them, these dream clouds act as a portal to that person’s dream where that person is forever trapped in a whimsical dream world where all their greatest dreams and desires come true. The user can control every aspect of this dream world and reshape it as they please or bring anything into existence within it, being practically godlike within this realm of dreams, the user can even transform their imaginary dream world into a horrific, nightmare world if they so please. The Awakened version of this power is creating an unstoppable and relentless avatar that protects and fights for the user outside of the dream world for as long as they are asleep, this avatar being a ghostly entity resembling a mix between a clown and a grim reaper with long, sloth-like claws. The user’s weapon is a giant, toy-like mallet that in spite of it’s innocent looks can shatter concrete like it was glass with one mighty swing. Due to the effects the Disastrous has on it’s user, the user is often very drowsy and low energy, so much so that they can even give up in the middle of a fight if it proves too taxing for them, but they are practically unstoppable within their dream world and can just have the world they control fight for them. While Golden Widow and the Disastrous have been causing trouble for Paris and it’s heroes, Rose became very ill due to her unspecified illness and had to be admitted into the hospital again for the first time in years, terrifying and greatly saddening Juleka to the point of driving her into a depression. Juleka refused to leave her room, stopped going to school, isolated herself from everyone and spends most of her time sleeping, too depressed to face reality and instead preferring to stay in her dreams where Rose was happy and healthy. Kulala chose Juleka as his host, confusing her depression for laziness but Juleka accepted anyways as she believed she can use his powers to help Rose and keep her safe and happy, thus becoming the Disastrous supervillain, Oneira and forcing all of Paris into a permanent sleep so they can be happy and safe within their dreams instead of being in a world that will only harm and disappoint them. It took the combined efforts of Ladybug, Chat Noir, Viperion and Pigella to face Oneira but even then, the only way they were able to defeat and free Juleka from the grasp of Kulala was Rose confessing her love to Juleka and reassuring her that everything will be okay but she also tells her that no matter what, she should never feel scared or alone because she is surrounded by friends who will always care for her. The Sloth Disastrous was then given to Ladybug and locked away in the Disastrous Box, the third Disastrous to be so. The phrase to activate the Sloth Miraculous is “Kulala, Slow Down!” Kulala’s name is the Swahili word for sleep and she came into existence when the first human neglected their important duties and pushed them onto others just to relax.
