  1. [11:53] Finding that himself exploring more and more of the lands of Esshar, Revan would find himself more lost than ever. Not quite geographically, as he had a map with routes charted on them. No, the more people he met, the loss he experienced, they all exposed him to something new, and he wasn't quite sure how to deal with it all.
  2.
  3. Walking the cobbled road to home, the path he knew best, he would spy his Mentor watching out over the snowy expanse. "..Hello.. Mr. Avitus." He would greet his mentor in that neutral tone of his, though there were hints of gratitude to see him.
  4.
  5. "It has.. Been some time.. Hasn't it?" He would say as he stepped over to the cliffs beside him. "Have you.. Been well?" The eldest Task always struggled with conversation unless there was an expressed purpose it fulfilled. Though he had found himself getting marginally better with it, as he spent more and more time with his guild mates.
  6. (Revan Task)
  7. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  8.
  9. [11:57] Truthfully? It was a good start to his day - Fenes had visited, a small discussion had that made the slight curves of a smile paste themselves to his lips. Swirling the steaming, lidded mug of coffee around in his hand his ears turn towards the crunch of snow. Another one of the followers, how quaint.
  10.
  11. "Mornin' Revan." Thalis began, pausing for a time as he looked them over. Those pauses always did seem to note something in others... Idly clicking his teeth he'd give a slight bow of his head. "It's been some time, but I'm doin' a'ight. Th' Winter tha' Syth brought t' this mountain 'as m' a bit worried...- As it does a few others it seems."
  12.
  13. Drawing in a slow breath he'd pull his head back; Gaze placing itself on the ruins of Osrona he'd let out a sigh. "Winter's been on Esshar fer as lon' as I can remember." Another pause, his hazel gaze travelling to the Task. "What o' yerself, Revan? 'ow are y' fairin' in th' aftermath o' this Winter?" Scanning them over for a time his lips pressed into a thin line.
  14. (Thalis Avitus)
  15. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  16.
  17. [12:11] Thalis was always a welcoming presence, ever since they had made small conversation when he first stepped into the square well over a year ago. They were both outsiders, but for differing reasons, though they both found a way to belong amongst the free folk of the mountain.
  18.
  19. It always took the bandaged teen a moment to decipher what his Mentor meant, it always felt like winter because of the ever present snow, but he would soon realize that's not at all what he meant.
  20.
  21. Saekanis.. The Winter wolf.. Death, destruction, and war
  22.
  23. Nodding that he understood, he would think over his time since he last spoke to his teacher, their last lesson being on Asena, Saekanis, and The Balance... Though it was more introductory for the latter two than the former.
  24.
  25. "I.. have been.." He would start, pausing, searching for just the right word.. But he would find none. "My sister.. Rinn.. Was killed in battle nottoo long ago.." He would start with the worse of it, grieving the loss of not only a family member, but a role model of his since birth. She was Dun's first true child, even if not by blood. She had set the example for the Task children to follow, and now she was gone.
  26.
  27. "... And.. I've joined a guild.. Or.. Co-found it.. It is.. How I know Fenes.." That was much better news, he found himself constantly drawn to visiting them, spending time with them. Though there was still conflict seeping through his tone as he brought them up, but he wasn't sure how to broach that subject.
  28. (Revan Task)
  29. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  30.
  31. [12:17] As the Task nods so does the Ookami. Never would he refer to death as something as simple as itself-- Every loss was a notch upon the Winter Wolf's pelt; Asena's own more than likely skinny from the life that had been lost among the destruction of Esshar. The scales were tipped and needed to be fixed.
  32.
  33. That would be done soon.
  34.
  35. Flashing a brief smile he'd press on the better topic first, "Glad t' 'ear tha'. Fenes was jus' 'ere not t' lon' ago. She's gettin' stron'er - 'opin' she takes th' offer o' joinin' a pack up 'ere later on in life. Doubt it'll be soon, 'owe'er." Raising his mug he'd take a swig of the coffee-- Bitter, it wasn't what Magne had offered him among the battlefield way back when.
  36.
  37. There's a furrow to his brow as he recalled the onslaught. To see a dragon devour its prey whole was an absolute different story than what he'd witnessed usually. Slowly his head shook, his tone lowered as he shifted topics once more.
  38.
  39. "As fer yer sister... I'm sorry fer yer loss. Mi'alis was Yani's killer so I understand wha' she did - I'd more than likely fight t' th' death 'gainst m' lover's killer t'." Tapping idly at his mug he'd cant his head to the side. "... Tha' said, 'ow're y' dealin' with it? 'ave y' mourned yet?"
  40. (Thalis Avitus)
  41. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  42.
  43. [12:35] Hearing that Fenes was getting stronger, it was something that Revan had experienced first hand, one of the goals of their guild was simply the pursuit of strength, though perhaps that was just because they were all so young.
  44.
  45. ".. Yes.. She certainly has.." Thinking back to their fight with his poisonous fumes and sharp blade, Revan couldn't stop the muscles in his face from contracting into a smile.. He must have still had some of the poison coursing through his veins.
  46.
  47. "I think.. You would like the rest as well.. Hans is studious.. And Resourceful.. And Lillith.." He would pause, the smile he couldn't detain would only grow wider. "She is.. A remarkable leader.. Adventurous.. Curious.. Kindhearted.. It's.. Rather infectious.."
  48.
  49. With a shake of his head, he would try to shake whatever sensation he felt, normally it was only when he was with them he felt such a way. Though now it even happened at the thought of them, and it was something he was unsure how to deal with, finding it rather distracting.
  50.
  51. "I.. Hope Fenes chooses to join the pack as well.. I feel like.. She's missing something.. Perhaps she could find it with you.. And other like minded people.." He would continue, he had sensed something in her, but couldn't quite pinpoint what it was. It was something he wished to speak to her about, but finding alone time with any one person in the guild was sometimes difficult.
  52.
  53. On the topic of Rinn's death, and Mihalis being mentioned, his expression would harden immediately. "He's killed my Uncle.. And now my Sister.. I will have his head.. And I will bring it to my Father." His words carrying venom for the man. ".. We had a funeral service the day it happened.. We watched her pass on.. But.. I have.. Never seen my father so.. Hurt.. I wish to never see it again."
  54. (Revan Task)
  55. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  56.
  57. [12:42] Hearing of Fenes's guild he couldn't help but crack a little more of a smile. It was nice to hear a group of like-minded people gathering up, beginning to form something greater. Letting one arm furl about his own midsection he'd listen intently as the Task continued on.
  58.
  59. "I'll 'ave t' meet 'em all one day. If any o' 'em find interest in th' Summer Wolf do tell m'- Better yet brin' 'em 'ere. I'm 'appy t' lead those tha' I can..." With a soft pause he'd add in, "'n I think Fenes would do well 'mon' more o' 'er kin. I know I've always felt better seein' others like m'self 'round."
  60.
  61. Even now he couldn't bare the idea of making his way into the square. So many drakanites, so many humans, it was strange being one of few beastkin among the mountaintops. Knitting his brow he isolated that thought.
  62.
  63. Perhaps that's why he felt so left out up here.
  64.
  65. With a gentle shake of his head he'd push those thoughts back. That smile falters, the topic taking up the discussion of Winter once more. "As fer tha' man... I'd take yer time. Get stron', find yerself. Rushin' in ain't e'er a good idea - Lettin' rage control yer movements is 'ow y' see an early Winter." A lesson, hopefully, that a student would take to heart.
  66.
  67. "Tha' aside... Funerals ain't e'er easy, nor is loss. I was 'round yer age when I first saw m' best friend melted alive 'fore m'. It's an image y' can't e'er truly get rid o'..." Thalis drifted off, gaze growing distant as his jaw clamps tight. "Th' best thin' t' do is t' carry on in their name. Push yerself t' do 'em justice - T' prove their loss ain't in vain."
  68. (Thalis Avitus)
  69. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  70.
  71. [13:01] A nod would follow at the thought of meeting the rest of their growing guild. "When.. Fenes first mentioned she was originally up hear searching for you.. I told them that I had trained under you.. They seemed interested to meet you.. But I believe more so because you are my Mentor, rather than being interested in Asena.. Like Fenes and I are.." He would report, possibly deflating his hopes just a little bit, though he thought any exposure to Asena's influence would be better than none.
  72.
  73. At the mention of finding his early winter, he would understand what that meant immediately. "He took out Rinn.. I can not even face off against Valero.. I know I am not ready." He would admit through grit teeth. He hated admitting his own weakness, though he was growing stronger.. And making alliances that he believed would help him achieve his goal.
  74.
  75. "That.. Is something I have been.. Struggling with.. Mr. Avitus.. My Father.. Believed that chaos was progression.. That without it, things would stagnate and whither.. It was with this belief that I was raised with.. That only through pain and suffering, could we heal and grow stronger.. But.." He would mutter off, he wasn't sure where he was going with the thought.
  76.
  77. He would nod with the advice, carrying on Rinn's name, following her example and going further than she did, while ensuring he was only able to accomplish what he did because of the Foundation she had set for him. ".. I will do my best.. To honor her.."
  78. (Revan Task)
  79. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  80.
  81. [13:08] Rolling his shoulders in a shrug he'd merely reply, "M' strength comes from Asena, Revan, they're free t' believe wha' they want 'n search fer power 'ow they may. In th' end o' th' day I'll always show wha' m' deity's capable o'-- Tha's more than enough t' draw th' attention o' possible other followers." Thalis nodded sagely, well aware how people took to the religions about them. If something could offer one power they were all over it.
  82.
  83. Greedy, but that was life.
  84.
  85. "Chaos, though, is needed when there's an o'erabundance o' order. Yet right now we 'ave an o'erabundance o' chaos... I'm 'opin' these comin' years are a bit easier on those 'round m'. Th' cycle o' life 'as t' balance itself out soon." Holding a pause he'd click his teeth. "It's in these moments tha' we ain't feel like we can control much. Tha's wha' frustrates many."
  86.
  87. "I'm sure y'll do well in 'er name, though. Stay determined 'n th' world will be yer grove t' 'arvest from." Switching his mug to a free hand he'd pat the youth's shoulder. Reassurance was needed in these trying times, so it was best he gave it where he could.
  88. (Thalis Avitus)
  89. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  90.
  91. [13:21] Nodding, he would know exactly what the ookami meant when speaking of power and deities. He was a breathing example of the Summer Blessed, carrying himself across the winds fast as lightning to smite those who were so grossly tipping the scales, as he said.
  92.
  93. It was what his Thalis had to offer about chaos that would really make the young Task wonder. Chaos is needed, but there was too much of it around. Could one destroy those that left ruin in their path, and still be seen as an ally to those who created?
  94.
  95. He would think of The Balance that he was taught during their first lesson, two wolves in a constant struggle.. Though they needed one another to truly exist. For if destruction runs rampant, it will run out of things to consume. Life needs the pain and turmoil, otherwise the soil stagnates, and the seeds of life will wither and rot.
  96.
  97. He felt the chaotic emotions that had been boiling inside him at odds with his logical mind, his desire to control those around him, his brothers, though it was all for the purpose of bringing glory to his family name.
  98.
  99. Stay determined 'n th' world will be yer grove t' 'arvest from.
  100.
  101. The son of Dun was unsure where his path would lead him, but he knew he would be up to the task. ".. I certainly will Mr. Avitus.. Your guidance has been.. Greatly appreciated.. And you've given me a lot to think about.."
  102. (Revan Task)
