  1. <Nick|GM> It's a normal day of patrolling his neighborhood for Curry. No disturbances. It seems that his murder of Alchemeister has successfully bought him some repect from anyone who might have issues with his claims on the area. He's payed the water bill, but there's still no power. He could get power if he pledged fealty to the Urbanites, but there are various issues with that.
  2. <Nick|GM> He's just walking down the frontage road for I-25, watching out for trouble, when he hears a call from behind him.
  3. <Nick|GM> "Spotlight."
  4. <Nick|GM> It's a male voice. He can't place it immediately. ||
  5. --> Soren (uid214808@hathersage.irccloud.com) has joined #WDPueblo
  6. <CG|Herrschaft> ...
  7. <CG|Herrschaft> Curry imagines it's an eerie sight when he whips the flurry of lights that is the top of his head to face the person behind him. His head has been in and out of Spotlight to fight sleep for the past couple days at least. It's hard to tell.
  8. --> Teruzi|Caul (Andres@net-frc.e8u.190.190.IP) has joined #WDPueblo
  9. <CG|Herrschaft> In truth he can already tell who's there but he turns to them anyway. He still had to observe courtesies, even if he didn't need to.
  10. <CG|Herrschaft> He cocks his head, and the lights and data tilt upwards as he signals the he's acknowledging whoever's talking to his.
  11. <CG|Herrschaft> His palm goes to the handle of his sword.
  12. <CG|Herrschaft> ||
  13. <Nick|GM> It's the man who was following him, two days ago. The one he told to sell stuff for him. The one who worked for the Normal, before they were destroyed.
  14. <Nick|GM> "I have money for you," he says simply. ||
  15. <CG|Herrschaft> Though he's loathe to do so, he drops his lights back into his head, and his normal head slots back into place. He needs to talk after all.
  16. <-- Jackknife (uid200599@192.184.8.103) has quit (Quit: Connection closed for inactivity)
  17. <CG|Herrschaft> "Thank you. Take a fair amount for yourself and then set it on the floor, I'll be watching how much you grab." Curry says, it takes him a few times for his weak unused voice to stop from cutting out.
  18. <CG|Herrschaft> He puts hits lights back up and watches the man take his cut. In truth he hates being without his power. He's too used to seeing everything, having a clear head, not having to rest. As the weariness hits him he sets to using his power once again.
  19. <CG|Herrschaft> ||
  20. <Nick|GM> ((roll dice pool))
  21. <CG|Herrschaft> $roll 8d6! Dice Pool
  22. --> [ATM] (ATM@localhost) has joined #WDPueblo

  25. <CG|Herrschaft> ((Wow))
  26. <CG|Herrschaft> ((So many dump numbers))
  27. <Nick|GM> The man takes a wad of bills out from his breast pocket. It's held together with a piece of string.
  28. <Nick|GM> He counts them, showing Spotlight as he shows each one. It takes a while. There's twenty-four bills in all, all hundreds. Most are crumpled or torn.
  29. <Nick|GM> The man takes, very clearly, six of them for himself.
  30. <Nick|GM> "Thirty percent."
  31. <Nick|GM> He sets the rest on the ground, then steps back and waits. ||
  32. <CG|Herrschaft> That leaves him with 1,800. He's tempted to get the man to give back a few bills. But in having the connection is helpful. He doesn't want to burn his bridges. He also really doesn't want to go through the effort of signing at the guy.
  33. <CG|Herrschaft> He nods and steps forward to pick up his money, and then salutes him.
  34. <CG|Herrschaft> ||
  35. --> FossilLord (uid191092@hathersage.irccloud.com) has joined #WDPueblo
  36. <-> FossilLord is now known as FossilWork
  37. <Nick|GM> "Anything else?" the man asks. "I'm not unskilled, and I don't have any other employment right now."
  38. <Nick|GM> It seems he's gotten over his fear of Spotlight. ||
  39. <CG|Herrschaft> He could use some help in his mission. Though he's not sure how he's going to convince the guy to help him on what was by all accounts a suicide mission.
  40. <CG|Herrschaft> He internally sighs as he lowers his power again. "I might need some help with a job I'm pulling soon. But it's nothing for the faint of heart." He says. He raises an eyebrow. "How does that sound?"
  41. <CG|Herrschaft> ||
  42. <Nick|GM> "I know it's tempting to be vague and dramatic," the man says. "But I'm going to need a bit more than that. With all due respect." ||
  43. <CG|Herrschaft> "Me and another cape are hitting the power plant, I'll let you keep the whole stack if you come to help. Maybe bring others. The payout will be massive if we succeed and you won't need to do any fighting. Just cover our backs."
  44. <CG|Herrschaft> If he wants Curry to get to the point, then Curry will. Curry doesn't play that bullshit and he's way too groggy from sleep deprivation to even think about it.
  45. <CG|Herrschaft> ||
  46. <Nick|GM> "I can cover your backs. I'll ask around, see if anyone else is interested."
  47. <Nick|GM> He pauses, thinking. "When?" ||
  48. <CG|Herrschaft> ((I'm flexible for whenever, when is it realistic for us to to pull this?))
  49. <Nick|GM> ((however long you think you'll need to prepare))
  50. <Nick|GM> ((it's monday, now))
  51. <Nick|GM> ((the 18th))
  52. <CG|Herrschaft> ((I'm good whenever Moira is. I'm chill to hop in there with just my sword if needs be. Spotlight is a ballsy motherfucker with nothing to lose))
  53. <CG|Herrschaft> ((I could go right after this meeting haha))
  54. <CG|Herrschaft> ((But uh, maybe say tomorrow?))
  55. <Nick|GM> ((moira didn't give you a date, unless you and thal coordinated something))
  56. <CG|Herrschaft> ((No I'll have to ask her))
  57. <ThalAI> ((I was going to talk to needles of death and get some supplies for the civvies.))
  58. <CG|Herrschaft> ((It's Monday how long you think that'll take?))
  59. <Nick|GM> ((you can have done that sunday, thal, I'll run you then))
  60. <ThalAI> (('kay, I was also going to teach the civvies to make home alone traps so we can hold the plant))
  61. <Nick|GM> ((sounds good. we'll work that out in your session))
  62. <Nick|GM> ((CG: basically you don't have a time set yet))
  63. <CG|Herrschaft> "No time set yet, but we'll be fit to move in the next few days. We're amassing forces and resources. It won't be long until we're ready." Curry says, crossing his arms.
  64. <CG|Herrschaft> In truth he's impatient to move. He's almost annoyed Alchemeister had lost to him he's been itching for some action.
  65. <CG|Herrschaft> He was definitely going to get some at the power plant.
  66. <CG|Herrschaft> ||
  67. <Nick|GM> "One more thing," the man says. "Can I stay in your territory? My old place was near the Normal HQ, and that's no longer safe. It would make it easier for us to contact each other, as well."
  68. <Nick|GM> He seems unconcered, nonchalant.
  69. <Nick|GM> ((Roll wits))
  70. <CG|Herrschaft> $roll 1d6-1 Wits
  71. <[ATM]> CG|Herrschaft "Wits" [2] -1 = 1
  72. <CG|Herrschaft> ((Its is a minus right?))
  73. <CG|Herrschaft> It*
  74. <-> CG|Herrschaft is now known as CG|Spotlight
  75. <Nick|GM> ((yeah, you have two wits))
  76. <Nick|GM> ||
  77. <CG|Spotlight> "If you're working with me, it would only make sense." Spotlight says shrugging. He doesn't see why not. A thought does occur to him though.
  78. <CG|Spotlight> "I'm telling you this in confidence. If you sell us out. We'll find you and make you regret it, I can see a lot of way to make people hurt when my head is light." Spotlight threatens.
  79. <CG|Spotlight> "But yeah I'll set you aside a place." He says, switching to a lighter tone smoothly.
  80. <CG|Spotlight> ||
  81. <Nick|GM> The man rolls up his sleeves, revealing a ridiculous amount of scars.
  82. <Nick|GM> "I've been in this business a long time," he says.
  83. <Nick|GM> He lifts his head up and points to his throat. There's a large burn on his chin and neck.
  84. <Nick|GM> "I didn't survive these by betraying people. Thank you." ||
  85. <CG|Spotlight> Curry nods, taking the man at his word. It was all he could do. Worrying and being suspicious would get him nowhere. If this paid off the extra manpower could mean the difference between winning and losing.
  86. <CG|Spotlight> "I respect that." He nods.
  87. <CG|Spotlight> "We'll be in touch then." Spotlight says, yawning.
  88. <CG|Spotlight> ||
  89. <Nick|GM> He nods, and walks away.
  90. <Nick|GM> The wind whistles down the street.
  91. <Nick|GM> ||
  92. <CG|Spotlight> ...
  93. <CG|Spotlight> With the man out of the way all there is left to do is continue his patrolling. Although he is still feeling antsy. A dangerous idea strikes him.
  94. <CG|Spotlight> Moira Kane is supposed to be teaching his people, which means they'll be safe if he's gone.
  95. <CG|Spotlight> He feels like patrolling isn't enough anymore. It's a good time to make enemies too because soon he'll control who has power in town.
  96. <CG|Spotlight> He's honestly too tired to make the rational decision and sleep the hunger for a fight off.
  97. <CG|Spotlight> Pushing and expanding his territory. Now that was active. He breaks into lights and sprint towards the nearest territory with capes in it that he hasn't made in roads with yet. He's going to see some action.
  98. <CG|Spotlight> ||
  99. <Nick|GM> There's downtown, which is the site of continual conflict, or he can go see what's happening in the Normal's old territory. Downtown is slightly closer, but there's no guarantee that stuff's happening there right now. ||
  100. <CG|Spotlight> Moving into Normal territory seems like a safe and constructive direction to go in. He can fight off all comers and establish his hold over the area now that he had another cape helping him out.
  101. <CG|Spotlight> His head springs into light and data glittering into the air above his mouth and nose, and he scales the nearest building to begin traversing his way towards the old Normal territory.
  102. <CG|Spotlight> ||
  103. <Nick|GM> ((Acrobatics))
  104. <Nick|GM> ((pick from the previous dice pool))
  105. <-> Faust|Marcelle is now known as FaustAndAbout
  106. <CG|Spotlight> <Acrobatics- 4>
  107. <Nick|GM> He climbs the building, nearly slipping up when one of the bricks crumbles under his feet. His power alerts him to the breakage, though, and he recovers quickly. It doesn't take long at all, skittering across rooftops, before he arrives at the edge of what used to be the Normal's territory.
  108. <Nick|GM> ((awareness, please))
  109. <CG|Spotlight> <Awareness- 1-1= 0>
  110. <Nick|GM> There's no sign of any capes, or anyone, really. The territory seems abandoned. ||
  111. <CG|Spotlight> Though that makes his job easier, it does also make it significantly more boring.
  112. <CG|Spotlight> He's clear headed to admit to himself that he's doing this partially for himself at this point. Fuck it he deserves to let off a little steam too doesn't he?
  113. <CG|Spotlight> He scales down at the floor and walks deeper into the territory as he pushes to unload the shit data his power had gathered for him in his sleep deprivation.
  114. <CG|Spotlight> ||
  115. <CG|Spotlight> Down to the floor*
  116. <Nick|GM> ((you're overclocking? note that overclocked breaker state lasts for 6 rounds and disables your breaker state for a day afterwards))
  117. <Nick|GM> ((or was that just a comment on choosing the 1?))
  118. <CG|Spotlight> ((On choosing the one, he's purposely over examining things to shift off the shit))
  119. <CG|Spotlight> ((Aka costing himself a few rounds of effectiveness))
  120. <Nick|GM> ((right))
  121. <Nick|GM> He walks down the cracked road, passing by disused houses. There's no overt signs of previous criminal activity. He walks a few blocks, nothing out of the ordinary.
  122. <Nick|GM> ((awareness, please))
  123. <CG|Spotlight> <Awareness- 1-1=0>
  124. <Nick|GM> ((reflexes))
  125. <CG|Spotlight> <Reflexes- 3-1 = 2>
  126. <Nick|GM> As he walks into an intersection, Spotlight hears a whooshing noise, feels a chill, and then, before he can react, he's in the air. Some sort of hand is grasped around his midsection. It's intensely cold, and almost transparent. He can't tell what, if anything, the hand is connected to.
  127. <Nick|GM> "Hey!" comes a shout. ||
  128. --> Lurks|Sleep (uid195947@brockwell.irccloud.com) has joined #WDPueblo
  129. <-> Lurks|Sleep is now known as JustLurking
  130. <CG|Spotlight> While the reasonable reaction might be for him to feel fear, or annoyance that his power's data was failing him this way. He's action excited to have been attacked. It means he can retaliate. He attempts to recognize the cape, who knows maybe the chaff data held some value. As he does so he flares his lights on his head, and draws his blade to chop downwards
  131. <CG|Spotlight> at the hand.
  132. <CG|Spotlight> ||
  133. <Nick|GM> ((know, please))
  134. <CG|Spotlight> <Know- 2+1 = 3>
  135. <Nick|GM> ((brawn, too, for the sword))
  136. <CG|Spotlight> <MA, apply?>
  137. <Nick|GM> ((No))
  138. <CG|Spotlight> <Brawn- 2+1= 3>
  139. <Nick|GM> ((you're swinging at the hand that's holding you, I assume?))
  140. <CG|Spotlight> ((Yee))
  141. <Nick|GM> He doesn't know any capes who who could have grabbed him like this, but there are a lot of unknowns in Pueblo, and he's only been here a short while.
  142. <Nick|GM> He swings his sword at the hand that's holding him, but the blade passes through it without slowing down.
  143. <Nick|GM> ((reflexes))
  144. <CG|Spotlight> ((I gave myself an extra 2, instead of using a 3 and a 1))
  145. <CG|Spotlight> <Reflexes- 3-1 = 2>
  146. <Nick|GM> ((lol I don't even know what dice you have I'm just trusting you))
  147. <CG|Spotlight> ((I have one more 1 left I think? But idk))
  148. <Nick|GM> The sword is still moving quickly, and he's so surprised by the lack of resistance that he can't stop it before he hits himself in the legs.
  149. <Nick|GM> $moderate cut
  150. <[ATM]> [Arm] [Any 2] Butchered: Counts as moderate plus lesser wound, inflicts SCAR.
  151. <Nick|GM> ((ouch!))
  152. <Nick|GM> ((take that))
  153. <Nick|GM> "I said 'hey!'" says the voice. Spotlight realizes that whatever's hand this is definitely isn't the one talking. The voice has moved, and out of the corner of his eye he can see the shouter. He's covered in heavy tactical armor with camoflauge patterns, and has a purple mask on.
  154. <Nick|GM> The hand gabbing him hasn't moved an inch. He can't feel a pulse. ||
  155. <Nick|GM> ((grabbing*))
  156. <CG|Spotlight> Spotlight flinches at the pain, but can't curse to let his pain out. The tendrils of light that make up his head flare instead.
  157. <CG|Spotlight> He sacrifices a glance at the person in the corner of his vision, to get rid of the last of his shit data. He needs to regroup quickly if he's facing two.
  158. <CG|Spotlight> One he can reload his data he sees about getting himself free.
  159. <CG|Spotlight> Without cutting himself this time preferably.
  160. <CG|Spotlight> ||
  161. <Nick|GM> ((what are you trying do do exactly? recognize the person?))
  162. <CG|Spotlight> ((Yeah))

  167. <Nick|GM> His power doesn't tell him anything about the man that he couldn't have found out by looking at him, but new data and glimpses of what might come to pass enter his head.
  168. <Nick|GM> The cape seems frustrated at Spotlight's silence, and says nothing more.
  169. <Nick|GM> The thing that's grabbing him moves again, squeezing.

  182. <Nick|GM> $moderate bash
  183. <[ATM]> [Torso] [Any 2] Walloped: Thrown 10’ back or to one side and knocked down, staggered on the ensuing turn.
