- An ornate cherub skull vial (#431738) appears in your hands, purchased as a gift for you by Alarin.
- The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "A small welcoming gift. Use it well!"
- Blissful, idiotic grin preserved even in what appears to have been a grisly death, this cherub's
- skull vial has been sealed with layer upon layer of ornamental iron and gold filigree and drop upon
- drop of sanguinary garnet and ruby. These designs worm like tentacles over the pallid ivory of the
- bone, partially mending the cracks that seem to have previously shattered the head of the angelic
- being. At the very centre and top of the tiny skull, a hole has been bored into the cranial cavity
- and resealed with a thick iron screw.
- You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "Ah! I had wondered. This is exceedingly kind of you. Thank you,
- sincerely. I will put it to good use."
- The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "I am certain you will! Also, feel free to
- ask for assistance should you ever need it. Seeing the younger generations become successful is
- something I love to do."
- You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "That passion speaks very highly of you indeed! Might you know roughly
- where I could find the temple of Lanta? I cannot seem to find any mention of it. Does She have one?
- Ah- My manners. How should I address you?"
- The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "You've asked the right panda! A moment and I
- will show you the way."
- You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "Oh, please, do not trouble yourself if you have other matters to attend
- to!"
- The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "It's really no trouble."
- A cascading veil of water and light gently rains in from the northwest as Alarin steps through it,
- parting the starry curtain in a shimmer of sparkling white mist.
- Alarin stands at attention and gives a crisp salute with their furry right paw.
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White trots in with head high, butting Alarin gently with his head.
- Avaris clicks his chitinous heels together and claps both of his right arms to his
- breast in a swift salute.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's on an island in Bondero Bay called Vesucia."
- Alarin Stormcrow says to Thaldorn Thornfist, the White, "Took you long enough."
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "I am not familiar, alas. It is fortunate that you know the
- way."
- Yawning, Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "Shaddap."
- You give Thaldorn Thornfist, the White a respectful salute.
- Alarin grins mischievously at Thaldorn Thornfist, the White.
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White grunts noncommitally.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Don't mind him. He's grumpy when he first wakes up."
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White exclaims, "Am not!"
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Anywho, here we go."
- ((Movement! Alarin is FAST!))
- Before the veil of mist.
- Luminous streams overflow from a baptismal fountain of water and light here. Thaldorn Thornfist, the
- White towers silently here, a stern gaze on his face. Perpetually in a dramatic pose, the inflated
- silken form of Avechna the Avenger towers here, ebony muscles gleaming.
- You see exits leading northeast, southeast, southwest, northwest, up, and down.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Welcome to the Vanishing Isles."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "This is the manifestation of Lady Lantra's essence within the First World."
- Avaris's head turns about as he studies the locale, wings shivering faintly.
- "Fascinating. A most beautiful place." He pauses, then, turning to regard Alarin. "Would I be
- welcome here, without invitation? I do not wish to intrude."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "The entrance is..."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Aye."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I am one of Her Chosen. You're fine."
- Alarin's eyes sparkle with amusement at you.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Were you interested in learning about Her ways?"
- Unfurling to reveal their starry hearts, radiant lotuses bloom upon these waters with a stoic grace.
- Avaris's antennae flit upwards in a swish of feathery red, his voice brightening.
- "Ah! That is most fortuitous, indeed. I have a keen interest in learning more of Her, and Her
- tenets, yes. I was hoping to find some scrolls, or suchlike, in the temple."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "We actually don't have a library in the Temple just yet... unless one was
- built while I slept."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Let's check!"
- ((Alarin does their Flash impression again!))
- Alarin shakes their head.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "None yet."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "We need to remedy that. I'll speak with my daughter-in-law about it."
- -say Ah, alas. It seems I must resort to bothering some of Her good followers, in that case. :D
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Ah, alas. It seems I must resort to bothering some of Her
- good followers, in that case."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "We're all quite happy to help!"
- Alarin beams broadly.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "My daughter, her wife and my grand-daughter are all within Her Order."
- A pleasant, thrumming blend of varying vibrational pitches emanates from Avaris at
- this, his laughter rich and smooth as song. "Quite the family tradition. You must be very proud."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed, very much so."
- You think to yourself: "A most serendipitous meeting, indeed. What a blessed day this has been."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "In fact, Lady Aeldra was selected as Lady Lantra's first Avatar."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "You'll meet her soon enough... she's usually sleeping until roughly sometime
- next month."
- The soft length of Avaris's right antenna tilts towards Alarin as he clasps his
- hands beneath his wings, at the small of his back. "I look forward to meeting her very much. It
- would be an honour."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Could you, perhaps, point me in the right direction, in
- regards to what I should learn? I do not know if She would have use for one such as I, but, well."
- Avaris's shoulders disappear briefly into the depths of his thick ruff as he offers
- a shrug.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "She has use for us all. None are insignificant... you know, let me introduce
- you to someone."
- Beaming, Tavi, the Pure-Hearted exclaims, "Oh, hello Alarin! It's so very good to see you!"
- Tavi, the Pure-Hearted cheerfully raises her trunk in greeting to Alarin.
- Alarin hugs Tavi, the Pure-Hearted compassionately.
- Tavi, the Pure-Hearted skips about Alarin merrily, sending motes of light scattering in all
- directions.
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White exclaims, "Tavi!"
- Young and round, Tavi is an adorable white elephant with a beaming smile. A multitude of star
- lotuses crown her head in a circlet woven of flowers, settling behind two enormous ears each as
- large and wide as a massive palm frond. A breathtaking mantle of starry mist rests upon her
- alabaster hide, depicting the glittering constellation of an urn overflowing with four luminous
- streams of water. She walks about on four squat little legs, her flat feet large and ponderous in
- her clumsy gait. The elephant's golden eyes take in her surroundings with a childlike innocence, her
- tiny tail flicking back and forth with a sense of pure wonder. Her long trunk moves about with a
- gently probing curiosity, though she curls it up, abashed, when caught exploring where she shouldn't
- be.
- Tavi, the Pure-Hearted has an air of extreme strength.
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White hugs Tavi, the Pure-Hearted compassionately.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Avaris, this is Tavi, the Pure-Hearted. She has lived here for majority of
- her life."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "When we first found her however, she was on the brink of death."
- Head swiveling aside in evident curiosity, Avaris's antennae flick towards Tavi,
- the Pure-Hearted as he observes the fond exchange of greetings. Once introduced, he bends at the
- waist in an elegant, courteous bow, uttering a polite, "It is a pleasure to meet you, good Tavi. I
- am Avaris."
- You tilt your head and listen intently to Alarin.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Some pirates had her buried in a small crate not too far from the waterfall
- that leads here."
- Quietly, Tavi, the Pure-Hearted says, "I hate them. They took me far, far away, and barely gave me
- anything to eat or a place to sleep. They were really scary."
- Alarin Stormcrow says to Tavi, the Pure-Hearted, "We'll find them, my dear. Don't you worry."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Under careful supervision and around the clock care, she was restored."
- You think to yourself: A dull ripple of sympathy for the elephant - born upon a deep, stirring
- current of coursing fury. In a hissing, caustic buzz, "Wretches."
- Koi fish of every colour press against the surface of these luminous waters, leaving ripples in
- their wake.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "She now stands as a representative of the Lady Empyreal."
- Straightening up proudly, Tavi, the Pure-Hearted says, "Mother said I could stay here with Her! That
- I could help Her heal those who are in need of help, like She healed Me."
- Tavi, the Pure-Hearted struts proudly about the room.
- Head bowed, a beautiful merian anchoress says, "Praise be to the Empyreal Goddess! In Her holy name,
- we vow to purge the world of its maladies and afflictions."
- A beautiful merian anchoress cups her hands together in offering. Motes of light unfurl to reveal a
- single star lotus in her palm, lingering there with radiant beauty.
- Whispering a parting blessing, a beautiful merian anchoress bows and gracefully departs to the east.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Whom she affectionately calls Mother."
- Straightening up proudly, Tavi, the Pure-Hearted says, "Mother said I could stay here with Her! That
- I could help Her heal those who are in need of help, like She healed Me."
- Tavi, the Pure-Hearted struts proudly about the room.
- Alarin beams broadly at Tavi, the Pure-Hearted.
- Tavi, the Pure-Hearted wiggles her ears playfully.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "So... any one of us can be useful. Just focus, contemplate and then
- achieve."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Words I tend to live by."
- Alarin shifts their eyes suspiciously from side to side.
- Starlight mists shroud these peaceful waters, illuminated only by the gentle glow of star lotuses in
- eternal bloom.
- Straightening from his bow slowly, Avaris's wings lift gradually up from his back,
- though only a handspan or so. A faint pulse of baleful crimson light throbs through the markings
- upon them, and then fades. When he speaks, his resonant voice is cold, tight with some controlled
- emotion. "That is a...Most cruel fate. I hope that I can assist in meting out justice to those who
- committed such an atrocity, when the time comes."
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "...not if we get there first."
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say to Alarin, "My thanks, for the tale. The Lady seems most
- kind."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Thaldorn! Be nice!"
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White exclaims, "...what'd I say?!"
- Alarin rolls their eyes.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Like I said... he's a grump."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "And aye, She really is."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's one of the first things that drew me to Her, actually."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "How much time do you have, currently?"
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Speaking of Her tenets may take a bit."
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "...forever if you let Alarin do it."
- Alarin Stormcrow says to Thaldorn Thornfist, the White, "Shush you!"
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White snickers softly to himself.
- Avaris's right antennae shifts towards Thaldorn Thornfist, the White, and the cool,
- bright blue of his compound eyes give no hint of his feelings as he responds, calmly, "There is a
- time and place for nice. Dealing with such scum is not one of them. He has nothing to be remorseful
- for - We are in firm agreement." At the question he waves his right set of hands aside in a smooth
- wave. "I have all the time in the world, presently. Do not feel the need to rush, I can linger as
- long as you require."
- A rhapsodic, feminine voice carries over these starry waters, their twinkling surface brightening
- with healing light.
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "All right then! There is actually a perfect place for this lesson!"
- Before the veil of mist.
- Sidereal waterfalls spill into the luminous pool of this baptismal font, forming a sparkling veil of
- mist. The banks of fog at the base of the cascading water swirl across the marble floors with an
- enchanting, mysterious haze, whispering across the mosaic lotus tiles. Pillars of white marble
- encircle the fountain, while celadon blue statuettes of veiled priestesses hold urns of overflowing
- light before the waters. The starry light that pours forth collects and pools at the centre of the
- chamber, where a single star lotus unfurls in eternal bloom. Luminous streams overflow from a
- baptismal fountain of water and light here. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White towers silently here, a
- stern gaze on his face. Perpetually in a dramatic pose, the inflated silken form of Avechna the
- Avenger towers here, ebony muscles gleaming.
- You see exits leading northeast, southeast, southwest, northwest, up, and down.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "This is the upper level of the Lake of Polaris. To the north, east, south
- and west are Fonts that extoll Her Four Tenets."
- The Font of Purity.
- Glistening waterfalls surround this marble font, sculpted in homage to Lantra, the White. Beautiful
- doves carved from mother-of-pearl soar about Her with silent joy, their wings gliding through the
- waterfalls to spray a gentle mist of sparkling white. The Goddess's long robes flow to the waters
- below, Her hands outstretched to cradle a single star lotus held within Her palms, captured in
- eternal bloom. Endless living star lotuses blossom at Her feet, unfurling their dewy petals to
- reveal their sparkling hearts. Muted sconces of soft starlight provide a soft, ambient light to this
- chamber, twinkling in and out like constellations on the walls. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White towers
- silently here, a stern gaze on his face. Perpetually in a dramatic pose, the inflated silken form of
- Avechna the Avenger towers here, ebony muscles gleaming.
- You see exits leading north, southeast, and southwest.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Purity."
- Avaris's attention shifts to the font, the inverted teardrops of his eyes focusing
- upon the likeness of the Goddess intently, their azure blue glowing a shade brighter.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's quite simple, really. Live with integrity and pure intent. Never do
- things without your intent being pure."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "As an example, I tend to help anyone who needs it--."
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "A little TOO much--."
- Alarin gives Thaldorn Thornfist, the White the once-over, eyeing him suspiciously.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I never expect recompense. I actually don't ever consider it a possibility."
- You think to yourself: A hushed sense of reverence, of faint awe at the vision of the Divine, the
- purity of Her splendor and the sheer beauty of the breathtaking work of art.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's just in my nature to do so."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Does that make sense?"
- Alarin shifts their eyes suspiciously from side to side.
- Avaris nods sharply. "Kindness should be done for kindness' sake, not for the hope
- of gain."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "This is my first time giving this lesson."
- Alarin chuckles long and heartily.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Another thing to watch for? Falsehoods."
- Avaris's attenae sweep into an upward curve, the many facets of his eyes gleaming
- with a brief, muted flare of pleasant blue light. His voice is benign as he assures, "You are doing
- wonderful. Please, continue."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "There may be a time where people will try to sway you to do things that
- are... unsavoury. Sometimes, they can even be an anathema to the Light that we represent."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Trust your gut in those situations. If it feels wrong, it most likely is."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Being nice to everyone has its setbacks, to be honest."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I tend to have people try to... convince me that I belong elsewhere."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I do not. I belong here."
- Alarin beams broadly.
- A slight rasp emanates from Avaris's back, where the chitinous plating of his
- fingers rub against one another as they tighten slightly. "I will never knowingly be led to work
- against the Light." A pause, and then, in a somewhat more even tone, "I admire your goodness of
- heart - Unfortunately, I do not believe I am quite so...Tolerant, of such attempts. I am not given
- to spreading kindness to those shunned by the Light."
- You think to yourself: "A serpent should have its tongue cut out, if it attempts to whisper sibilant
- lies into one's ear."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "And that is quite all right!"
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "My father is the same, actually."
- You think to yourself: A faint pulse of relief.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "And I love him dearly."
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Ah. That is good to hear. I had some concerns as to whether
- such lack of forbearance would be frowned upon by Her."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "...even if he can be a bit much at times."
- "Shh!" says Alarin, putting a finger to their lips.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Keep that between us, hm?"
- You have emoted: Avaris unclasps his upper right hand to bring it to where his mandibles likely lie,
- passing his fingers across the area as if sliding closed a lock.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "No, I believe Lady Lantra would be very understanding."
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "...She would be."
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White ponders the situation.
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "I mean... She puts up with me."
- Alarin chuckles long and heartily.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Anywho..."
- Avaris's head turns to Thaldorn Thornfist, the White, a soft laugh shivering forth.
- "She is tolerant of the more...Zealous, then?"
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed!"
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Our Queen is of Her Chosen and she's as zealous as they come."
- Avaris's head tilts inquisitively. "Queen?"
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "She's also one of our best combatants."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Aye. Azula Vivalde, Queen Regnant of New Celest."
- You think to yourself: "I thought I had left Queens behind." A sour note, a drop of lemon in an
- otherwise honeyed draught.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "You'll see her about, though her waking times are... roughly twelve days
- from now or so."
- The chanting of feminine voices echoes throughout the Temple of Lantra, distant and beautiful.
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White exclaims, "...you need a hobby. Memorising when people wake? Who DOES
- that?!"
- Alarin stares blankly at Thaldorn Thornfist, the White.
- Avaris's chin dips into the thick tufts of his mane as he nods. "I see. You are
- very well informed, I must say. Though - I do not believe you told me how I should address you. What
- do you prefer?"
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "The both of you, of course."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Merely Alarin is just fine. I've never been much for titles."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Hence why I do not wear one."
- Alarin's eyes sparkle with amusement.
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "Hey you, Big Guy or Thaldorn is what everyone calls me."
- Alarin utters a deep, rumbling laugh.
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Alarin and Thaldorn it is, then. A pleasure to formally
- meet you both. I, am Avaris, as you no doubt know."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "A pleasure!"
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White grunts noncommitally.
- Alarin glances askance at Thaldorn Thornfist, the White.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "...he'll warm up to you eventually."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "He's a bit... grunty around new folks."
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "We are not all blessed with warm mannerisms and kind words
- by nature. I understand, believe me."
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "Am not."
- Alarin rolls their eyes at Thaldorn Thornfist, the White.
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "All right. Let's move on to the next of Her Tenets, shall we?"
- You nod your head at Alarin.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Devotion. This is the one I personally meditate on."
- The Font of Devotion.
- The refined elegance of Lantra, the Blessed Mother is made manifest in this beautiful alabaster
- font, the sculpture's eyes aglow with adoration as She stands upon a marble pedestal with hands
- pressed to Her heart. Her gaze falls upon the Supernals of Celestia whom watch over these blessed
- waters, each sculpted into the chamber's six surrounding columns. A shimmering aureole surrounds
- Elohora, her hands extended upwards in a sign of benevolence to the Goddess while Shakiniel guards
- her sister's left, her gold-embossed shield raised and sword in hand. To the right stands the noble
- Methrenton, his armour imbued with a soft iridescence; Raziela follows, her slight form shown
- singing beneath an arbour of yellow daisies. Japhiel emerges from the next pillar, his stern gaze
- fixated upon the heavy gilt tome held in his hands. The final column resembles a faint masculine
- figure, though its face is faded, as if lost to memory. Golden lotuses stand serenely at the base of
- each pillar, illuminated with motes of starlight that cast luminous ripples across the room.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Devoting oneself to a cause, goal or the like."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Two other words come to mind when I think of this."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Dedication."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Perseverance."
- Avaris studies the arrayed Supernals quietly for a time, nodding slightly as he
- listens.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "You will no doubt meet more citizens in the coming days. All of us share a
- common goal."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "The Light of Holy Celestia and the Tides of the Water Plane."
- You think to yourself: A tenet that resonates particularly strongly with him. To devote oneself to a
- higher cause is an honour, and a true calling.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Have you learned much of them?"
- Alarin tilts back their head and inhales deeply while twitching a wolf's snout.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Apologies, force of habit."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I tend to scent the realm often whilst here."
- Avaris's antennae shifts slightly, disturbed by the shake of his head. "I am very
- fresh from the Portal. I stepped out, but a month a go, or so. I have much to learn. I have
- a...Vague grasp, but it is nebulous at best. And of course - No apology necessary."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Well... there are five Holy Supernals whom all reside upon the Holy Land,
- known to most as Celestia."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lord Japhiel, whom reminds us to seek wisdom in all words and actions."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Shakiniel, whom teaches us to defend our homeland at any and all
- costs."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lord Methrenton, who rallies those willing to venture forth and cleanse the
- Taint from the land, by force if neccessary."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Raziela, whom teaches us to know compassion and understanding, learning
- to forgive."
- You think to yourself: "Something that I struggle with, unfortunately."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "And Lady Elohora, who is the very embodiment of the Light and the vassal
- linking all the teachings together."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "With me so far?"
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Following along, indeed."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Splendid!"
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Raziela is actually who influenced my final decision to come to the
- Light."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I was actually born in the Tainted City."
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Ah, yes. She does seem to align well with your nature, from
- what little I know of each of you."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I moved to the Glomdoring shortly after stepping from the Portal of Fate."
- Avaris pauses, head turning to regard Alarin with an unreadable gaze. In a level
- voice, he says, "You have traveled quite the dark path to find the Light."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "While I was a resident of Magnagora, there was a raid upon the Holy Land.
- Not knowing any better at the time, I decided to assist."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Of course, I became an enemy."
- Avaris merely nods, watching Alarin in silence.
- You think to yourself: "As should any that harm the Light."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Raziela, after I sought forgiveness from both New Celest and the Holy
- Land, still welcomed me with open arms."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I had by then moved to the Glomdoring Commune."
- You think to yourself: "I admire their capacity for forgiveness. I fear I would not be so quick to
- offer an embrace, as the sword."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Ack, I am afraid I must depart."
- Alarin rolls their eyes.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Otherworldly duties."
- Avaris nods crisply. "Of course. Take care, and thank you for the instruction."
- Alarin stands at attention and gives a crisp salute with their furry right paw.
- You give Alarin a respectful salute.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I will return soon!"
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White bobs his head several times just before trotting off.
- White lotus petals drift past you carried on motes of starlight as a calm, feminine voice whispers,
- "Those who seek Wisdom with Purity of heart may be granted it. I look forward to seeing how your
- journey unfolds, child of the Light." In mere moments, the voice is naught but a soothing whisper on
- the wind.
- Lantra, the Empyreal has bestowed Her divine truefavour upon you. It will last for 1 month.
- Avaris stiffens abruptly, antennae lashing back and forth as he turns his head
- swiftly from side to side, as if searching for something. After a time, he relaxes, growing
- quiescent once more.
- Avaris lowers his head, the red curve of his antennae drifting down to drape over
- his eyes in a pose of contemplation.
- You think to yourself: A gentle wave of humble reverence, carrying with it the lingering glitters of
- shock. "I do not know if You can hear me, Lady Lantra - But thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
- I will endeavour to not disappoint You."
- Avaris straightens, placing his four hands upon his hips as he gazes up at the sky
- thoughtfully.
- The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "Greetings again. Apologies for that... I
- tend to get called away from time to time due to otherworldly obligations."
- You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "Not at all - You have no need to apologise whatsoever."
- The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "Thank you for understanding! Faring well?"
- You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "Of course. I...Believe that I am, very much so, yes. Unless I am wildly
- mistaken, I believe the good Lady spoke to me, just after you departed."
- The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "Oh? What did She say?"
- You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "That those who seek Wisdom may be granted it, so long as they have
- Purity of heart. She also said that She was looking forward to seeing my journey unfold, which
- is...Unexpected. I had not expected to draw so much as a flicker of Her attention, let alone hear
- Her voice directly. It was certainly. Impactful."
- The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "Excellent! Aye, I am glad... She is truly a
- blessing to both the Light and Her citizenry."
- You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "So I am beginning to truly appreciate, yes. She seems most kind. Is
- there a way in which I might show Her some manner of appreciation? I confess that I do not know how
- She prefers such things."
- The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "We can continue if you like."
- You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "I would enjoy that very much, if it is not a trouble for you."
- The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "Never! It's what I'm here for."
- You give Alarin a respectful salute.
- Alarin stands at attention and gives a crisp salute with their furry right paw.
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White gives the world a smart salute.
- You give Thaldorn Thornfist, the White a respectful salute.
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "...greetings."
- Alarin blinks.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "See? Warming up already!"
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White grunts noncommitally.
- Avaris dips his head in a slight nod towards Thaldorn Thornfist, the White.
- "Greetings to you as well, Thaldorn."
- Avaris's left antenna flicks aside, a ripple of muted colour spreading across his
- faceted eyes.
- ((Zooming once again!))
- The Font of Fortitude.
- Cold, argent light filters through this chamber, which is upheld by stark white pillars illuminated
- by starry torchlight. The frescoes painted upon this water-filled chamber are haunting in their
- black-and-white shading as they depict the horrors of the Elder Wars. Here, countless Elder Gods
- hold Their ground before the likes of Kethuru, Crazen and Zenos, held in proud formations perfected
- by the Second Circle. Yet the wounded and dying have begun to pile up behind Them, and while many
- faces which grace these walls seem familiar, far more are blurred, as if the memory of Them has
- finally begun to fray. A statue of Lantra, the Lady Mediatrix looks upon all these images in
- silence, surrounded by startlingly bright red lotuses which blossom at Her feet and crown Her regal
- brow. A single crimson lotus blooms eternally in Her outstretched hands as water and light flows
- forth from beneath its sanguine petals, as if stained with blood.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Another of Her Tenets that I try to live by."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Fortitude."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "The ability to push forward in all that you do in life."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "For myself personally, it also means to be that person whom the words "give
- up" are never an option."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Tavi, whom you met earlier, is a shining example of this Tenet as well."
- Far more sober now than in the prior Fonts, Avaris looks upon the embattled Elders
- silently, still as a statue, save for the occasional drift and sway of his thick mane. Shifting his
- head to regard the crimson blossoms that adorn the effigy of the Lady, he lowers his chin in a slow
- nod, voice quiet. "Yes. A difficult one to uphold, but perhaps the most important, to me. A
- foundation to build upon."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Aeldra is also... rather adamant in this regard."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "That woman will stare down a room full of enemies and fight, alone if she
- must."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's quite scary sometimes."
- Alarin chuckles long and heartily.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "She's the reason I've decided to take up arms again."
- Avaris's answering nod this time is crisp and emphatic, his voice firm. "As it
- should be. Determination is a vital trait, if one intends to hold to one's convictions, no matter
- the trials."
- You tilt your head curiously at Alarin.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Watching her still try when others won't... no, that won't do."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "So I join her if I am awake."
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "A worthy endeavour, Alarin. Though I may not be of much
- use, for some time, I shall be there with you, when I am able."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I fought much as a cub until I was roughly in my thirties."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Then decided to stop since I tended to grow a bit... agitated, depending on
- the circumstances."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "That's when I knew I needed to stand aside for a while."
- Avaris's shivering buzzes flow into a cool harmony as he replies, "Battle can often
- get the blood up, as they say. Perfectly understandable. A clear head and a clear heart are
- important."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Precisely."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I also tend to enjoy other things."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Such as writing plays."
- Alarin's eyes sparkle with amusement.
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White exclaims, "...you need to slow down with that. Every time I go into
- the tavern, you have yet another one on the list!"
- A shimmer of lucent blue spreads over Avaris's eyes as he nods. "Cultural
- endeavours are just as important. Nurturing the soul and heart of the citizenry is a crucial task.
- Morale would suffer, otherwise. Fine work, Alarin, I am sure."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed. What sort of Culture Minister would I be if I didn't lead by
- example?"
- Alarin's eyes twinkle enchantingly.
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Ah, I had not realised. It is little wonder you are so
- passionate about the arts."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I always have been. The Queen saw that too apparently and offered me the
- position."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I was in shock for a month afterwards."
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White snickers softly to himself.
- Avaris's laugh thrums out like a struck chord, his left hand turning to Alarin as
- he remarks, amused, "It is good that the Queen has a good eye for skill and passion. We can often be
- blind to it, ourselves, I think."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Aye. I'm guilty of it sometimes, sadly. It's one of my faults that I tend to
- correct as soon as it happens."
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "So long as the effort is made, and is sincere, that is all
- that truly matters, in that regard."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I couldn't agree more."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I tend to ramble, which I am sure you've noticed. Thank you for being
- patient."
- Alarin's mouth turns up as their face breaks into a smile.
- Avaris's hands sweeps down in a slow, soothing motion. "Not at all. It is a
- pleasure to listen to someone who cares so much."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "All right, let us move on to the final of Her Tenets."
- The Font of Wisdom.
- This shadowy, water-filled alcove is filled with the gentle susurrus of running water, for cascading
- waterfalls rain over its smooth stone walls in a symphony of aquatic sound. A procession of water
- lotuses, each lit by a single, luminous star, raise their stems high above the surface of sparkling
- water as they surround a statue of Lantra, the Empyreal, Her inscrutable expression veiled from view
- as She folds Her hands in quiet contemplation. Seven starry jewels crown the Goddess's brow,
- mimicking domothean crystal as they emit an eerie light that dapples the shimmering walls. From
- where the light touches stone, faint constellations twinkle into view, drawing a sidereal path
- across the walls that leads through the Void-black stone to the west, as if charting a way back to
- the Basin of Life.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Wisdom."
- You think to yourself: The echo of the Divine voice from earlier resonates gently in his mind -
- "Those who seek Wisdom with Purity of heart may be granted it."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Being able to discern Truth and understanding is actually a key part of my
- own journey. I tend to try looking at things from all possible sides, leaving judgment out of it.
- Sometimes, things are not as they seem. Being able to tell the difference is very useful."
- You think to yourself: "I seek it, of course, but who am I to judge if my heart is truly Pure? Many
- of the worst wretches in history have thought their hearts pure and just."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "You are very perceptive and intelligent from what I know so far, so I have
- no doubts that you will be great."
- Avaris's pointed fingers tap thoughtfully against the natural armoured of his
- forearms, emitting a faint 'tak' each time, as he gazes upon the Goddess, antennae drawn down and
- back. "An objective view can be most difficult to truly obtain. Personal bias, both one's own, and
- that of others, tends to colour the lends with which we view the world, no matter how we strive to
- clear it." A pause, and then, a touch ruefully, "You are very kind to say so, Alarin. I try my
- best. I am but a simple soldier."
- You sense a quiet, unseen presence watching you here, at once both calming and disquieting.
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Avaris's shoulders stiffen subtly, his antennae swiveling slowly about as he pans
- his head about the room. At length, he relaxes, returning his attention to Alarin. "Apologies.
- I..Felt eyes upon me."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Lantra is always watching, especially here."
- You think to yourself: "Ah." How to feel about that? This is Her temple, after all - She had every
- right to watch an intruder such as he. Still. Discomfiting, to have the gaze of a Divine near, even
- one so benign.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "...I just noticed your heritage."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Gurashi is also kepheran and one of the nicest you'll meet."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I believe his daughter Cheliyi is as well."
- Avaris nods slowly, lowering his hands to fold them neatly at his sides. Canting
- his head inquisitively, he asks, "Oh? I am not familiar with them, as of yet. It would be good to
- meet other Kephera that have been drawn to the Light."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed. Like me, they also lived elsewhere before coming to the Light."
- You think to yourself: "Perhaps I should strive to be more lenient with those that shun the Light,
- if three such examples of fine converts exist." A long pause, darkening with doubt, and distaste.
- "Perhaps not."
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you ask, "Is much of the current citizenry made up of those who have
- converted from elsewhere?"
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Not at all."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Some were actually born here."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Like the Queen."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Sir Caleb too. As was my father."
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Ah, I had meant to ask for your father's name."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Ah! He's Sir Romaan D'Varden. He... actually should be waking soon, come to
- think of it."
- Unfurling to reveal their starry hearts, radiant lotuses bloom upon these waters with a stoic grace.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "He tends to come and go, usually around the times when there will be quakes
- in time occurring."
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "I believe I encountered him briefly, earlier, as it
- happens. He seems a most active sort."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "He tries to get things done since his time is limited for most of the
- month."
- Turning once more to the statue Avaris contemplates it for a time, before asking,
- "Have you attained Wisdom, Alarin? It seems...Perhaps the most difficult of the tenets, thusfar."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "I like to think I have, but there's always room to learn and improve!"
- Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "...I swear you talk like a damn fortune cookie."
- Alarin rolls their eyes at Thaldorn Thornfist, the White and splurts, "Pfffft."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "...as you can see, Thaldorn is very blunt."
- There is a long delay after Avaris's feathered antennae twitches in Thaldorn
- Thornfist, the White's direction, his eyes still locked upon the statue. "There is nothing amiss
- with being direct. It can be refreshing, I find." Another span of silence, and then, "How do you
- know, Alarin? When you have become wise?"
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "...I think it is when you're able to remain impartial until knowing every
- detail of whatever it is you seek wisdom about."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Or so I believe."
- Avaris hums a thoughtful blending of vibrating pitches, hands clasped neatly
- beneath the vast cloak of his wings. "A difficult goal to strive for, given how easy it would be to
- delude oneself into believing impartiality was already attained."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed."
- Alarin's mouth turns up as their face breaks into a smile.
- Avaris turning from his study of the statue, steps towards Alarin, his motions
- smooth and dignfied. "Tell me, Alarin. What is Her Order like?"
- -
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's actually quite lovely! We're a small group, but very willing and ready
- to help one another."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "And Lady Lantra tends to talk to us quite often."
- Avaris cocks his head at Alarin, the deep red of his antennae bending with
- interest. "Indeed? What does She speak to you of? I cannot imagine conversing easily with a Divine."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "All sorts of things. Sometimes it's to ask about something."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "At other times, it's because someone has prayed to Her and would send one of
- us to speak with that person."
- Avaris's compound eyes glow faintly with a pulse of more saturated blue, a soft,
- thrumming laugh playing out from his chest. "Ah. That, I admit, was my plan. I had intended to pray
- to Her for guidance on who to approach, if I could not find scrolls about Her."
- Alarin nods their head emphatically.
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "Aye, it would have definitely been a good idea!"
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "One of us would have been sent to you."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "It usually is the case."
- In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "It seems most serendipitous that I asked you. I am very
- glad to have met you, Alarin. You have been exceedingly kind, and helpful."
- Alarin Stormcrow says, "The feeling is definitely mutual!"
- Alarin beams broadly.
- ((Alarin continues to be absurdly nice and helps me out with gear and figuring out energy cubes and such!))
