  1. An ornate cherub skull vial (#431738) appears in your hands, purchased as a gift for you by Alarin.
  2.
  3. The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "A small welcoming gift. Use it well!"
  4.
  5. Blissful, idiotic grin preserved even in what appears to have been a grisly death, this cherub's
  6. skull vial has been sealed with layer upon layer of ornamental iron and gold filigree and drop upon
  7. drop of sanguinary garnet and ruby. These designs worm like tentacles over the pallid ivory of the
  8. bone, partially mending the cracks that seem to have previously shattered the head of the angelic
  9. being. At the very centre and top of the tiny skull, a hole has been bored into the cranial cavity
  10. and resealed with a thick iron screw.
  11.
  12. You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "Ah! I had wondered. This is exceedingly kind of you. Thank you,
  13. sincerely. I will put it to good use."
  14.
  15. The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "I am certain you will! Also, feel free to
  16. ask for assistance should you ever need it. Seeing the younger generations become successful is
  17. something I love to do."
  18.
  19. You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "That passion speaks very highly of you indeed! Might you know roughly
  20. where I could find the temple of Lanta? I cannot seem to find any mention of it. Does She have one?
  21. Ah- My manners. How should I address you?"
  22.
  23. The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "You've asked the right panda! A moment and I
  24. will show you the way."
  25.
  26. You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "Oh, please, do not trouble yourself if you have other matters to attend
  27. to!"
  28.
  29. The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "It's really no trouble."
  30.
  31. A cascading veil of water and light gently rains in from the northwest as Alarin steps through it,
  32. parting the starry curtain in a shimmer of sparkling white mist.
  33.
  34. Alarin stands at attention and gives a crisp salute with their furry right paw.
  35.
  36. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White trots in with head high, butting Alarin gently with his head.
  37.
  38. Avaris clicks his chitinous heels together and claps both of his right arms to his
  39. breast in a swift salute.
  40.
  41. Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's on an island in Bondero Bay called Vesucia."
  42.
  43. Alarin Stormcrow says to Thaldorn Thornfist, the White, "Took you long enough."
  44.
  45. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "I am not familiar, alas. It is fortunate that you know the
  46. way."
  47.
  48. Yawning, Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "Shaddap."
  49.
  50. You give Thaldorn Thornfist, the White a respectful salute.
  51.
  52. Alarin grins mischievously at Thaldorn Thornfist, the White.
  53.
  54. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White grunts noncommitally.
  55.
  56. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Don't mind him. He's grumpy when he first wakes up."
  57.
  58. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White exclaims, "Am not!"
  59.
  60. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Anywho, here we go."
  61.
  62. ((Movement! Alarin is FAST!))
  63.
  64. Before the veil of mist.
  65. Luminous streams overflow from a baptismal fountain of water and light here. Thaldorn Thornfist, the
  66. White towers silently here, a stern gaze on his face. Perpetually in a dramatic pose, the inflated
  67. silken form of Avechna the Avenger towers here, ebony muscles gleaming.
  68. You see exits leading northeast, southeast, southwest, northwest, up, and down.
  69.
  70. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Welcome to the Vanishing Isles."
  71.
  72. Alarin Stormcrow says, "This is the manifestation of Lady Lantra's essence within the First World."
  73.
  74. Avaris's head turns about as he studies the locale, wings shivering faintly.
  75. "Fascinating. A most beautiful place." He pauses, then, turning to regard Alarin. "Would I be
  76. welcome here, without invitation? I do not wish to intrude."
  77.
  78. Alarin Stormcrow says, "The entrance is..."
  79.
  80. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Aye."
  81.
  82. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I am one of Her Chosen. You're fine."
  83.
  84. Alarin's eyes sparkle with amusement at you.
  85.
  86. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Were you interested in learning about Her ways?"
  87.
  88. Unfurling to reveal their starry hearts, radiant lotuses bloom upon these waters with a stoic grace.
  89.
  90. Avaris's antennae flit upwards in a swish of feathery red, his voice brightening.
  91. "Ah! That is most fortuitous, indeed. I have a keen interest in learning more of Her, and Her
  92. tenets, yes. I was hoping to find some scrolls, or suchlike, in the temple."
  93.
  94. Alarin Stormcrow says, "We actually don't have a library in the Temple just yet... unless one was
  95. built while I slept."
  96.
  97. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Let's check!"
  98.
  99. ((Alarin does their Flash impression again!))
  100.
  101. Alarin shakes their head.
  102.
  103. Alarin Stormcrow says, "None yet."
  104.
  105. Alarin Stormcrow says, "We need to remedy that. I'll speak with my daughter-in-law about it."
  106. -say Ah, alas. It seems I must resort to bothering some of Her good followers, in that case. :D
  107. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Ah, alas. It seems I must resort to bothering some of Her
  108. good followers, in that case."
  109.
  110. Alarin Stormcrow says, "We're all quite happy to help!"
  111.
  112. Alarin beams broadly.
  113.
  114. Alarin Stormcrow says, "My daughter, her wife and my grand-daughter are all within Her Order."
  115.
  116. A pleasant, thrumming blend of varying vibrational pitches emanates from Avaris at
  117. this, his laughter rich and smooth as song. "Quite the family tradition. You must be very proud."
  118.
  119. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  120.
  121. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed, very much so."
  122.
  123. You think to yourself: "A most serendipitous meeting, indeed. What a blessed day this has been."
  124.
  125. Alarin Stormcrow says, "In fact, Lady Aeldra was selected as Lady Lantra's first Avatar."
  126.
  127. Alarin Stormcrow says, "You'll meet her soon enough... she's usually sleeping until roughly sometime
  128. next month."
  129.
  130. The soft length of Avaris's right antenna tilts towards Alarin as he clasps his
  131. hands beneath his wings, at the small of his back. "I look forward to meeting her very much. It
  132. would be an honour."
  133.
  134. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  135.
  136. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Could you, perhaps, point me in the right direction, in
  137. regards to what I should learn? I do not know if She would have use for one such as I, but, well."
  138.
  139. Avaris's shoulders disappear briefly into the depths of his thick ruff as he offers
  140. a shrug.
  141.
  142. Alarin Stormcrow says, "She has use for us all. None are insignificant... you know, let me introduce
  143. you to someone."
  144.
  145. Beaming, Tavi, the Pure-Hearted exclaims, "Oh, hello Alarin! It's so very good to see you!"
  146. Tavi, the Pure-Hearted cheerfully raises her trunk in greeting to Alarin.
  147.
  148. Alarin hugs Tavi, the Pure-Hearted compassionately.
  149. Tavi, the Pure-Hearted skips about Alarin merrily, sending motes of light scattering in all
  150. directions.
  151.
  152. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White exclaims, "Tavi!"
  153.
  154. Young and round, Tavi is an adorable white elephant with a beaming smile. A multitude of star
  155. lotuses crown her head in a circlet woven of flowers, settling behind two enormous ears each as
  156. large and wide as a massive palm frond. A breathtaking mantle of starry mist rests upon her
  157. alabaster hide, depicting the glittering constellation of an urn overflowing with four luminous
  158. streams of water. She walks about on four squat little legs, her flat feet large and ponderous in
  159. her clumsy gait. The elephant's golden eyes take in her surroundings with a childlike innocence, her
  160. tiny tail flicking back and forth with a sense of pure wonder. Her long trunk moves about with a
  161. gently probing curiosity, though she curls it up, abashed, when caught exploring where she shouldn't
  162. be.
  163. Tavi, the Pure-Hearted has an air of extreme strength.
  164.
  165. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White hugs Tavi, the Pure-Hearted compassionately.
  166.
  167. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Avaris, this is Tavi, the Pure-Hearted. She has lived here for majority of
  168. her life."
  169.
  170. Alarin Stormcrow says, "When we first found her however, she was on the brink of death."
  171.
  172. Head swiveling aside in evident curiosity, Avaris's antennae flick towards Tavi,
  173. the Pure-Hearted as he observes the fond exchange of greetings. Once introduced, he bends at the
  174. waist in an elegant, courteous bow, uttering a polite, "It is a pleasure to meet you, good Tavi. I
  175. am Avaris."
  176.
  177. You tilt your head and listen intently to Alarin.
  178.
  179. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Some pirates had her buried in a small crate not too far from the waterfall
  180. that leads here."
  181.
  182. Quietly, Tavi, the Pure-Hearted says, "I hate them. They took me far, far away, and barely gave me
  183. anything to eat or a place to sleep. They were really scary."
  184.
  185. Alarin Stormcrow says to Tavi, the Pure-Hearted, "We'll find them, my dear. Don't you worry."
  186.
  187. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Under careful supervision and around the clock care, she was restored."
  188.
  189. You think to yourself: A dull ripple of sympathy for the elephant - born upon a deep, stirring
  190. current of coursing fury. In a hissing, caustic buzz, "Wretches."
  191.
  192. Koi fish of every colour press against the surface of these luminous waters, leaving ripples in
  193. their wake.
  194.
  195. Alarin Stormcrow says, "She now stands as a representative of the Lady Empyreal."
  196. Straightening up proudly, Tavi, the Pure-Hearted says, "Mother said I could stay here with Her! That
  197. I could help Her heal those who are in need of help, like She healed Me."
  198.
  199. Tavi, the Pure-Hearted struts proudly about the room.
  200.
  201. Head bowed, a beautiful merian anchoress says, "Praise be to the Empyreal Goddess! In Her holy name,
  202. we vow to purge the world of its maladies and afflictions."
  203.
  204. A beautiful merian anchoress cups her hands together in offering. Motes of light unfurl to reveal a
  205. single star lotus in her palm, lingering there with radiant beauty.
  206.
  207. Whispering a parting blessing, a beautiful merian anchoress bows and gracefully departs to the east.
  208.
  209. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Whom she affectionately calls Mother."
  210. Straightening up proudly, Tavi, the Pure-Hearted says, "Mother said I could stay here with Her! That
  211. I could help Her heal those who are in need of help, like She healed Me."
  212. Tavi, the Pure-Hearted struts proudly about the room.
  213.
  214. Alarin beams broadly at Tavi, the Pure-Hearted.
  215. Tavi, the Pure-Hearted wiggles her ears playfully.
  216.
  217. Alarin Stormcrow says, "So... any one of us can be useful. Just focus, contemplate and then
  218. achieve."
  219.
  220. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Words I tend to live by."
  221.
  222. Alarin shifts their eyes suspiciously from side to side.
  223.
  224. Starlight mists shroud these peaceful waters, illuminated only by the gentle glow of star lotuses in
  225. eternal bloom.
  226.
  227. Straightening from his bow slowly, Avaris's wings lift gradually up from his back,
  228. though only a handspan or so. A faint pulse of baleful crimson light throbs through the markings
  229. upon them, and then fades. When he speaks, his resonant voice is cold, tight with some controlled
  230. emotion. "That is a...Most cruel fate. I hope that I can assist in meting out justice to those who
  231. committed such an atrocity, when the time comes."
  232.
  233. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "...not if we get there first."
  234.
  235. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say to Alarin, "My thanks, for the tale. The Lady seems most
  236. kind."
  237.
  238. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Thaldorn! Be nice!"
  239.
  240. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White exclaims, "...what'd I say?!"
  241.
  242. Alarin rolls their eyes.
  243.
  244. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Like I said... he's a grump."
  245.
  246. Alarin Stormcrow says, "And aye, She really is."
  247.
  248. Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's one of the first things that drew me to Her, actually."
  249.
  250. Alarin Stormcrow says, "How much time do you have, currently?"
  251.
  252. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Speaking of Her tenets may take a bit."
  253.
  254. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "...forever if you let Alarin do it."
  255.
  256. Alarin Stormcrow says to Thaldorn Thornfist, the White, "Shush you!"
  257.
  258. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White snickers softly to himself.
  259.
  260. Avaris's right antennae shifts towards Thaldorn Thornfist, the White, and the cool,
  261. bright blue of his compound eyes give no hint of his feelings as he responds, calmly, "There is a
  262. time and place for nice. Dealing with such scum is not one of them. He has nothing to be remorseful
  263. for - We are in firm agreement." At the question he waves his right set of hands aside in a smooth
  264. wave. "I have all the time in the world, presently. Do not feel the need to rush, I can linger as
  265. long as you require."
  266.
  267. A rhapsodic, feminine voice carries over these starry waters, their twinkling surface brightening
  268. with healing light.
  269.
  270. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  271.
  272. Alarin Stormcrow says, "All right then! There is actually a perfect place for this lesson!"
  273.
  274. Before the veil of mist.
  275. Sidereal waterfalls spill into the luminous pool of this baptismal font, forming a sparkling veil of
  276. mist. The banks of fog at the base of the cascading water swirl across the marble floors with an
  277. enchanting, mysterious haze, whispering across the mosaic lotus tiles. Pillars of white marble
  278. encircle the fountain, while celadon blue statuettes of veiled priestesses hold urns of overflowing
  279. light before the waters. The starry light that pours forth collects and pools at the centre of the
  280. chamber, where a single star lotus unfurls in eternal bloom. Luminous streams overflow from a
  281. baptismal fountain of water and light here. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White towers silently here, a
  282. stern gaze on his face. Perpetually in a dramatic pose, the inflated silken form of Avechna the
  283. Avenger towers here, ebony muscles gleaming.
  284. You see exits leading northeast, southeast, southwest, northwest, up, and down.
  285.
  286. Alarin Stormcrow says, "This is the upper level of the Lake of Polaris. To the north, east, south
  287. and west are Fonts that extoll Her Four Tenets."
  288.
  289. The Font of Purity.
  290. Glistening waterfalls surround this marble font, sculpted in homage to Lantra, the White. Beautiful
  291. doves carved from mother-of-pearl soar about Her with silent joy, their wings gliding through the
  292. waterfalls to spray a gentle mist of sparkling white. The Goddess's long robes flow to the waters
  293. below, Her hands outstretched to cradle a single star lotus held within Her palms, captured in
  294. eternal bloom. Endless living star lotuses blossom at Her feet, unfurling their dewy petals to
  295. reveal their sparkling hearts. Muted sconces of soft starlight provide a soft, ambient light to this
  296. chamber, twinkling in and out like constellations on the walls. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White towers
  297. silently here, a stern gaze on his face. Perpetually in a dramatic pose, the inflated silken form of
  298. Avechna the Avenger towers here, ebony muscles gleaming.
  299. You see exits leading north, southeast, and southwest.
  300.
  301. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Purity."
  302.
  303. Avaris's attention shifts to the font, the inverted teardrops of his eyes focusing
  304. upon the likeness of the Goddess intently, their azure blue glowing a shade brighter.
  305.
  306. Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's quite simple, really. Live with integrity and pure intent. Never do
  307. things without your intent being pure."
  308.
  309. Alarin Stormcrow says, "As an example, I tend to help anyone who needs it--."
  310.
  311. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "A little TOO much--."
  312.
  313. Alarin gives Thaldorn Thornfist, the White the once-over, eyeing him suspiciously.
  314.
  315. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I never expect recompense. I actually don't ever consider it a possibility."
  316.
  317. You think to yourself: A hushed sense of reverence, of faint awe at the vision of the Divine, the
  318. purity of Her splendor and the sheer beauty of the breathtaking work of art.
  319.
  320. Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's just in my nature to do so."
  321.
  322. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Does that make sense?"
  323.
  324. Alarin shifts their eyes suspiciously from side to side.
  325.
  326. Avaris nods sharply. "Kindness should be done for kindness' sake, not for the hope
  327. of gain."
  328.
  329. Alarin Stormcrow says, "This is my first time giving this lesson."
  330.
  331. Alarin chuckles long and heartily.
  332.
  333. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Another thing to watch for? Falsehoods."
  334.
  335. Avaris's attenae sweep into an upward curve, the many facets of his eyes gleaming
  336. with a brief, muted flare of pleasant blue light. His voice is benign as he assures, "You are doing
  337. wonderful. Please, continue."
  338.
  339. Alarin Stormcrow says, "There may be a time where people will try to sway you to do things that
  340. are... unsavoury. Sometimes, they can even be an anathema to the Light that we represent."
  341.
  342. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Trust your gut in those situations. If it feels wrong, it most likely is."
  343.
  344. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Being nice to everyone has its setbacks, to be honest."
  345.
  346. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I tend to have people try to... convince me that I belong elsewhere."
  347.
  348. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I do not. I belong here."
  349.
  350. Alarin beams broadly.
  351.
  352. A slight rasp emanates from Avaris's back, where the chitinous plating of his
  353. fingers rub against one another as they tighten slightly. "I will never knowingly be led to work
  354. against the Light." A pause, and then, in a somewhat more even tone, "I admire your goodness of
  355. heart - Unfortunately, I do not believe I am quite so...Tolerant, of such attempts. I am not given
  356. to spreading kindness to those shunned by the Light."
  357.
  358. You think to yourself: "A serpent should have its tongue cut out, if it attempts to whisper sibilant
  359. lies into one's ear."
  360.
  361. Alarin Stormcrow says, "And that is quite all right!"
  362.
  363. Alarin Stormcrow says, "My father is the same, actually."
  364.
  365. You think to yourself: A faint pulse of relief.
  366.
  367. Alarin Stormcrow says, "And I love him dearly."
  368.
  369. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Ah. That is good to hear. I had some concerns as to whether
  370. such lack of forbearance would be frowned upon by Her."
  371.
  372. Alarin Stormcrow says, "...even if he can be a bit much at times."
  373.
  374. "Shh!" says Alarin, putting a finger to their lips.
  375.
  376. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Keep that between us, hm?"
  377.
  378. You have emoted: Avaris unclasps his upper right hand to bring it to where his mandibles likely lie,
  379. passing his fingers across the area as if sliding closed a lock.
  380.
  381. Alarin Stormcrow says, "No, I believe Lady Lantra would be very understanding."
  382.
  383. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "...She would be."
  384.
  385. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White ponders the situation.
  386.
  387. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "I mean... She puts up with me."
  388.
  389. Alarin chuckles long and heartily.
  390.
  391. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Anywho..."
  392.
  393. Avaris's head turns to Thaldorn Thornfist, the White, a soft laugh shivering forth.
  394. "She is tolerant of the more...Zealous, then?"
  395.
  396. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed!"
  397.
  398. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Our Queen is of Her Chosen and she's as zealous as they come."
  399.
  400. Avaris's head tilts inquisitively. "Queen?"
  401.
  402. Alarin Stormcrow says, "She's also one of our best combatants."
  403.
  404. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Aye. Azula Vivalde, Queen Regnant of New Celest."
  405.
  406. You think to yourself: "I thought I had left Queens behind." A sour note, a drop of lemon in an
  407. otherwise honeyed draught.
  408.
  409. Alarin Stormcrow says, "You'll see her about, though her waking times are... roughly twelve days
  410. from now or so."
  411.
  412. The chanting of feminine voices echoes throughout the Temple of Lantra, distant and beautiful.
  413.
  414. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White exclaims, "...you need a hobby. Memorising when people wake? Who DOES
  415. that?!"
  416.
  417. Alarin stares blankly at Thaldorn Thornfist, the White.
  418.
  419. Avaris's chin dips into the thick tufts of his mane as he nods. "I see. You are
  420. very well informed, I must say. Though - I do not believe you told me how I should address you. What
  421. do you prefer?"
  422.
  423. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "The both of you, of course."
  424.
  425. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Merely Alarin is just fine. I've never been much for titles."
  426.
  427. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Hence why I do not wear one."
  428.
  429. Alarin's eyes sparkle with amusement.
  430.
  431. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "Hey you, Big Guy or Thaldorn is what everyone calls me."
  432.
  433. Alarin utters a deep, rumbling laugh.
  434.
  435. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Alarin and Thaldorn it is, then. A pleasure to formally
  436. meet you both. I, am Avaris, as you no doubt know."
  437.
  438. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  439.
  440. Alarin Stormcrow says, "A pleasure!"
  441.
  442. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White grunts noncommitally.
  443.
  444. Alarin glances askance at Thaldorn Thornfist, the White.
  445.
  446. Alarin Stormcrow says, "...he'll warm up to you eventually."
  447.
  448. Alarin Stormcrow says, "He's a bit... grunty around new folks."
  449.
  450. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "We are not all blessed with warm mannerisms and kind words
  451. by nature. I understand, believe me."
  452.
  453. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "Am not."
  454.
  455. Alarin rolls their eyes at Thaldorn Thornfist, the White.
  456.
  457. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  458.
  459. Alarin Stormcrow says, "All right. Let's move on to the next of Her Tenets, shall we?"
  460.
  461. You nod your head at Alarin.
  462.
  463. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Devotion. This is the one I personally meditate on."
  464.
  465. The Font of Devotion.
  466. The refined elegance of Lantra, the Blessed Mother is made manifest in this beautiful alabaster
  467. font, the sculpture's eyes aglow with adoration as She stands upon a marble pedestal with hands
  468. pressed to Her heart. Her gaze falls upon the Supernals of Celestia whom watch over these blessed
  469. waters, each sculpted into the chamber's six surrounding columns. A shimmering aureole surrounds
  470. Elohora, her hands extended upwards in a sign of benevolence to the Goddess while Shakiniel guards
  471. her sister's left, her gold-embossed shield raised and sword in hand. To the right stands the noble
  472. Methrenton, his armour imbued with a soft iridescence; Raziela follows, her slight form shown
  473. singing beneath an arbour of yellow daisies. Japhiel emerges from the next pillar, his stern gaze
  474. fixated upon the heavy gilt tome held in his hands. The final column resembles a faint masculine
  475. figure, though its face is faded, as if lost to memory. Golden lotuses stand serenely at the base of
  476. each pillar, illuminated with motes of starlight that cast luminous ripples across the room.
  477.
  478. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Devoting oneself to a cause, goal or the like."
  479.
  480. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Two other words come to mind when I think of this."
  481.
  482. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Dedication."
  483.
  484. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Perseverance."
  485.
  486. Avaris studies the arrayed Supernals quietly for a time, nodding slightly as he
  487. listens.
  488.
  489. Alarin Stormcrow says, "You will no doubt meet more citizens in the coming days. All of us share a
  490. common goal."
  491.
  492. Alarin Stormcrow says, "The Light of Holy Celestia and the Tides of the Water Plane."
  493.
  494. You think to yourself: A tenet that resonates particularly strongly with him. To devote oneself to a
  495. higher cause is an honour, and a true calling.
  496.
  497. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Have you learned much of them?"
  498.
  499. Alarin tilts back their head and inhales deeply while twitching a wolf's snout.
  500.
  501. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Apologies, force of habit."
  502.
  503. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I tend to scent the realm often whilst here."
  504.
  505. Avaris's antennae shifts slightly, disturbed by the shake of his head. "I am very
  506. fresh from the Portal. I stepped out, but a month a go, or so. I have much to learn. I have
  507. a...Vague grasp, but it is nebulous at best. And of course - No apology necessary."
  508.
  509. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  510.
  511. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Well... there are five Holy Supernals whom all reside upon the Holy Land,
  512. known to most as Celestia."
  513.
  514. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lord Japhiel, whom reminds us to seek wisdom in all words and actions."
  515.
  516. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Shakiniel, whom teaches us to defend our homeland at any and all
  517. costs."
  518.
  519. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lord Methrenton, who rallies those willing to venture forth and cleanse the
  520. Taint from the land, by force if neccessary."
  521.
  522. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Raziela, whom teaches us to know compassion and understanding, learning
  523. to forgive."
  524.
  525. You think to yourself: "Something that I struggle with, unfortunately."
  526.
  527. Alarin Stormcrow says, "And Lady Elohora, who is the very embodiment of the Light and the vassal
  528. linking all the teachings together."
  529.
  530. Alarin Stormcrow says, "With me so far?"
  531.
  532. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Following along, indeed."
  533.
  534. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Splendid!"
  535.
  536. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Raziela is actually who influenced my final decision to come to the
  537. Light."
  538.
  539. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I was actually born in the Tainted City."
  540.
  541. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Ah, yes. She does seem to align well with your nature, from
  542. what little I know of each of you."
  543.
  544. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I moved to the Glomdoring shortly after stepping from the Portal of Fate."
  545.
  546. Avaris pauses, head turning to regard Alarin with an unreadable gaze. In a level
  547. voice, he says, "You have traveled quite the dark path to find the Light."
  548.
  549. Alarin Stormcrow says, "While I was a resident of Magnagora, there was a raid upon the Holy Land.
  550. Not knowing any better at the time, I decided to assist."
  551.
  552. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Of course, I became an enemy."
  553.
  554. Avaris merely nods, watching Alarin in silence.
  555.
  556. You think to yourself: "As should any that harm the Light."
  557.
  558. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Raziela, after I sought forgiveness from both New Celest and the Holy
  559. Land, still welcomed me with open arms."
  560.
  561. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I had by then moved to the Glomdoring Commune."
  562.
  563. You think to yourself: "I admire their capacity for forgiveness. I fear I would not be so quick to
  564. offer an embrace, as the sword."
  565.
  566. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Ack, I am afraid I must depart."
  567.
  568. Alarin rolls their eyes.
  569.
  570. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Otherworldly duties."
  571.
  572. Avaris nods crisply. "Of course. Take care, and thank you for the instruction."
  573.
  574. Alarin stands at attention and gives a crisp salute with their furry right paw.
  575.
  576. You give Alarin a respectful salute.
  577.
  578. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I will return soon!"
  579.
  580. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White bobs his head several times just before trotting off.
  581.
  582. White lotus petals drift past you carried on motes of starlight as a calm, feminine voice whispers,
  583. "Those who seek Wisdom with Purity of heart may be granted it. I look forward to seeing how your
  584. journey unfolds, child of the Light." In mere moments, the voice is naught but a soothing whisper on
  585. the wind.
  586.
  587. Lantra, the Empyreal has bestowed Her divine truefavour upon you. It will last for 1 month.
  588.
  589. Avaris stiffens abruptly, antennae lashing back and forth as he turns his head
  590. swiftly from side to side, as if searching for something. After a time, he relaxes, growing
  591. quiescent once more.
  592.
  593. Avaris lowers his head, the red curve of his antennae drifting down to drape over
  594. his eyes in a pose of contemplation.
  595.
  596. You think to yourself: A gentle wave of humble reverence, carrying with it the lingering glitters of
  597. shock. "I do not know if You can hear me, Lady Lantra - But thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
  598. I will endeavour to not disappoint You."
  599.
  600. Avaris straightens, placing his four hands upon his hips as he gazes up at the sky
  601. thoughtfully.
  602.
  603. The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "Greetings again. Apologies for that... I
  604. tend to get called away from time to time due to otherworldly obligations."
  605.
  606. You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "Not at all - You have no need to apologise whatsoever."
  607.
  608. The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "Thank you for understanding! Faring well?"
  609.
  610. You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "Of course. I...Believe that I am, very much so, yes. Unless I am wildly
  611. mistaken, I believe the good Lady spoke to me, just after you departed."
  612.
  613. The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "Oh? What did She say?"
  614.
  615. You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "That those who seek Wisdom may be granted it, so long as they have
  616. Purity of heart. She also said that She was looking forward to seeing my journey unfold, which
  617. is...Unexpected. I had not expected to draw so much as a flicker of Her attention, let alone hear
  618. Her voice directly. It was certainly. Impactful."
  619.
  620. The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "Excellent! Aye, I am glad... She is truly a
  621. blessing to both the Light and Her citizenry."
  622.
  623. You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "So I am beginning to truly appreciate, yes. She seems most kind. Is
  624. there a way in which I might show Her some manner of appreciation? I confess that I do not know how
  625. She prefers such things."
  626.
  627. The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "We can continue if you like."
  628.
  629. You tell Alarin Stormcrow, "I would enjoy that very much, if it is not a trouble for you."
  630.
  631. The cold voice of Alarin sends chills down your spine, "Never! It's what I'm here for."
  632.
  633. You give Alarin a respectful salute.
  634.
  635. Alarin stands at attention and gives a crisp salute with their furry right paw.
  636.
  637. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White gives the world a smart salute.
  638.
  639. You give Thaldorn Thornfist, the White a respectful salute.
  640.
  641. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "...greetings."
  642.
  643. Alarin blinks.
  644.
  645. Alarin Stormcrow says, "See? Warming up already!"
  646.
  647. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White grunts noncommitally.
  648.
  649. Avaris dips his head in a slight nod towards Thaldorn Thornfist, the White.
  650. "Greetings to you as well, Thaldorn."
  651.
  652. Avaris's left antenna flicks aside, a ripple of muted colour spreading across his
  653. faceted eyes.
  654.
  655. ((Zooming once again!))
  656.
  657. The Font of Fortitude.
  658. Cold, argent light filters through this chamber, which is upheld by stark white pillars illuminated
  659. by starry torchlight. The frescoes painted upon this water-filled chamber are haunting in their
  660. black-and-white shading as they depict the horrors of the Elder Wars. Here, countless Elder Gods
  661. hold Their ground before the likes of Kethuru, Crazen and Zenos, held in proud formations perfected
  662. by the Second Circle. Yet the wounded and dying have begun to pile up behind Them, and while many
  663. faces which grace these walls seem familiar, far more are blurred, as if the memory of Them has
  664. finally begun to fray. A statue of Lantra, the Lady Mediatrix looks upon all these images in
  665. silence, surrounded by startlingly bright red lotuses which blossom at Her feet and crown Her regal
  666. brow. A single crimson lotus blooms eternally in Her outstretched hands as water and light flows
  667. forth from beneath its sanguine petals, as if stained with blood.
  668.
  669. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Another of Her Tenets that I try to live by."
  670.
  671. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Fortitude."
  672.
  673. Alarin Stormcrow says, "The ability to push forward in all that you do in life."
  674.
  675. Alarin Stormcrow says, "For myself personally, it also means to be that person whom the words "give
  676. up" are never an option."
  677.
  678. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Tavi, whom you met earlier, is a shining example of this Tenet as well."
  679.
  680. Far more sober now than in the prior Fonts, Avaris looks upon the embattled Elders
  681. silently, still as a statue, save for the occasional drift and sway of his thick mane. Shifting his
  682. head to regard the crimson blossoms that adorn the effigy of the Lady, he lowers his chin in a slow
  683. nod, voice quiet. "Yes. A difficult one to uphold, but perhaps the most important, to me. A
  684. foundation to build upon."
  685.
  686. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  687.
  688. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Aeldra is also... rather adamant in this regard."
  689.
  690. Alarin Stormcrow says, "That woman will stare down a room full of enemies and fight, alone if she
  691. must."
  692.
  693. Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's quite scary sometimes."
  694.
  695. Alarin chuckles long and heartily.
  696.
  697. Alarin Stormcrow says, "She's the reason I've decided to take up arms again."
  698.
  699. Avaris's answering nod this time is crisp and emphatic, his voice firm. "As it
  700. should be. Determination is a vital trait, if one intends to hold to one's convictions, no matter
  701. the trials."
  702.
  703. You tilt your head curiously at Alarin.
  704.
  705. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Watching her still try when others won't... no, that won't do."
  706.
  707. Alarin Stormcrow says, "So I join her if I am awake."
  708.
  709. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "A worthy endeavour, Alarin. Though I may not be of much
  710. use, for some time, I shall be there with you, when I am able."
  711.
  712. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I fought much as a cub until I was roughly in my thirties."
  713.
  714. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Then decided to stop since I tended to grow a bit... agitated, depending on
  715. the circumstances."
  716.
  717. Alarin Stormcrow says, "That's when I knew I needed to stand aside for a while."
  718.
  719. Avaris's shivering buzzes flow into a cool harmony as he replies, "Battle can often
  720. get the blood up, as they say. Perfectly understandable. A clear head and a clear heart are
  721. important."
  722.
  723. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Precisely."
  724.
  725. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I also tend to enjoy other things."
  726.
  727. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Such as writing plays."
  728.
  729. Alarin's eyes sparkle with amusement.
  730.
  731. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White exclaims, "...you need to slow down with that. Every time I go into
  732. the tavern, you have yet another one on the list!"
  733.
  734. A shimmer of lucent blue spreads over Avaris's eyes as he nods. "Cultural
  735. endeavours are just as important. Nurturing the soul and heart of the citizenry is a crucial task.
  736. Morale would suffer, otherwise. Fine work, Alarin, I am sure."
  737.
  738. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  739.
  740. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed. What sort of Culture Minister would I be if I didn't lead by
  741. example?"
  742.
  743. Alarin's eyes twinkle enchantingly.
  744.
  745. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Ah, I had not realised. It is little wonder you are so
  746. passionate about the arts."
  747.
  748. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  749.
  750. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I always have been. The Queen saw that too apparently and offered me the
  751. position."
  752.
  753. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I was in shock for a month afterwards."
  754.
  755. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White snickers softly to himself.
  756.
  757. Avaris's laugh thrums out like a struck chord, his left hand turning to Alarin as
  758. he remarks, amused, "It is good that the Queen has a good eye for skill and passion. We can often be
  759. blind to it, ourselves, I think."
  760.
  761. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Aye. I'm guilty of it sometimes, sadly. It's one of my faults that I tend to
  762. correct as soon as it happens."
  763.
  764. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "So long as the effort is made, and is sincere, that is all
  765. that truly matters, in that regard."
  766.
  767. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  768.
  769. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I couldn't agree more."
  770.
  771. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I tend to ramble, which I am sure you've noticed. Thank you for being
  772. patient."
  773.
  774. Alarin's mouth turns up as their face breaks into a smile.
  775.
  776. Avaris's hands sweeps down in a slow, soothing motion. "Not at all. It is a
  777. pleasure to listen to someone who cares so much."
  778.
  779. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  780.
  781. Alarin Stormcrow says, "All right, let us move on to the final of Her Tenets."
  782.
  783. The Font of Wisdom.
  784. This shadowy, water-filled alcove is filled with the gentle susurrus of running water, for cascading
  785. waterfalls rain over its smooth stone walls in a symphony of aquatic sound. A procession of water
  786. lotuses, each lit by a single, luminous star, raise their stems high above the surface of sparkling
  787. water as they surround a statue of Lantra, the Empyreal, Her inscrutable expression veiled from view
  788. as She folds Her hands in quiet contemplation. Seven starry jewels crown the Goddess's brow,
  789. mimicking domothean crystal as they emit an eerie light that dapples the shimmering walls. From
  790. where the light touches stone, faint constellations twinkle into view, drawing a sidereal path
  791. across the walls that leads through the Void-black stone to the west, as if charting a way back to
  792. the Basin of Life.
  793.
  794. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Wisdom."
  795.
  796. You think to yourself: The echo of the Divine voice from earlier resonates gently in his mind -
  797. "Those who seek Wisdom with Purity of heart may be granted it."
  798.
  799. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Being able to discern Truth and understanding is actually a key part of my
  800. own journey. I tend to try looking at things from all possible sides, leaving judgment out of it.
  801. Sometimes, things are not as they seem. Being able to tell the difference is very useful."
  802.
  803. You think to yourself: "I seek it, of course, but who am I to judge if my heart is truly Pure? Many
  804. of the worst wretches in history have thought their hearts pure and just."
  805.
  806. Alarin Stormcrow says, "You are very perceptive and intelligent from what I know so far, so I have
  807. no doubts that you will be great."
  808.
  809. Avaris's pointed fingers tap thoughtfully against the natural armoured of his
  810. forearms, emitting a faint 'tak' each time, as he gazes upon the Goddess, antennae drawn down and
  811. back. "An objective view can be most difficult to truly obtain. Personal bias, both one's own, and
  812. that of others, tends to colour the lends with which we view the world, no matter how we strive to
  813. clear it." A pause, and then, a touch ruefully, "You are very kind to say so, Alarin. I try my
  814. best. I am but a simple soldier."
  815.
  816. You sense a quiet, unseen presence watching you here, at once both calming and disquieting.
  817.
  818. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  819.
  820. Avaris's shoulders stiffen subtly, his antennae swiveling slowly about as he pans
  821. his head about the room. At length, he relaxes, returning his attention to Alarin. "Apologies.
  822. I..Felt eyes upon me."
  823.
  824. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  825.
  826. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Lady Lantra is always watching, especially here."
  827.
  828. You think to yourself: "Ah." How to feel about that? This is Her temple, after all - She had every
  829. right to watch an intruder such as he. Still. Discomfiting, to have the gaze of a Divine near, even
  830. one so benign.
  831.
  832. Alarin Stormcrow says, "...I just noticed your heritage."
  833.
  834. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Gurashi is also kepheran and one of the nicest you'll meet."
  835.
  836. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I believe his daughter Cheliyi is as well."
  837.
  838. Avaris nods slowly, lowering his hands to fold them neatly at his sides. Canting
  839. his head inquisitively, he asks, "Oh? I am not familiar with them, as of yet. It would be good to
  840. meet other Kephera that have been drawn to the Light."
  841.
  842. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  843.
  844. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed. Like me, they also lived elsewhere before coming to the Light."
  845.
  846. You think to yourself: "Perhaps I should strive to be more lenient with those that shun the Light,
  847. if three such examples of fine converts exist." A long pause, darkening with doubt, and distaste.
  848. "Perhaps not."
  849.
  850. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you ask, "Is much of the current citizenry made up of those who have
  851. converted from elsewhere?"
  852.
  853. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Not at all."
  854.
  855. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Some were actually born here."
  856.
  857. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Like the Queen."
  858.
  859. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Sir Caleb too. As was my father."
  860.
  861. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "Ah, I had meant to ask for your father's name."
  862.
  863. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Ah! He's Sir Romaan D'Varden. He... actually should be waking soon, come to
  864. think of it."
  865.
  866. Unfurling to reveal their starry hearts, radiant lotuses bloom upon these waters with a stoic grace.
  867.
  868. Alarin Stormcrow says, "He tends to come and go, usually around the times when there will be quakes
  869. in time occurring."
  870.
  871. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "I believe I encountered him briefly, earlier, as it
  872. happens. He seems a most active sort."
  873.
  874. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  875.
  876. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed."
  877.
  878. Alarin Stormcrow says, "He tries to get things done since his time is limited for most of the
  879. month."
  880.
  881. Turning once more to the statue Avaris contemplates it for a time, before asking,
  882. "Have you attained Wisdom, Alarin? It seems...Perhaps the most difficult of the tenets, thusfar."
  883.
  884. Alarin Stormcrow says, "I like to think I have, but there's always room to learn and improve!"
  885.
  886. Thaldorn Thornfist, the White says, "...I swear you talk like a damn fortune cookie."
  887.
  888. Alarin rolls their eyes at Thaldorn Thornfist, the White and splurts, "Pfffft."
  889.
  890. Alarin Stormcrow says, "...as you can see, Thaldorn is very blunt."
  891.
  892. There is a long delay after Avaris's feathered antennae twitches in Thaldorn
  893. Thornfist, the White's direction, his eyes still locked upon the statue. "There is nothing amiss
  894. with being direct. It can be refreshing, I find." Another span of silence, and then, "How do you
  895. know, Alarin? When you have become wise?"
  896.
  897. Alarin Stormcrow says, "...I think it is when you're able to remain impartial until knowing every
  898. detail of whatever it is you seek wisdom about."
  899.
  900. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Or so I believe."
  901.
  902. Avaris hums a thoughtful blending of vibrating pitches, hands clasped neatly
  903. beneath the vast cloak of his wings. "A difficult goal to strive for, given how easy it would be to
  904. delude oneself into believing impartiality was already attained."
  905.
  906. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Indeed."
  907.
  908. Alarin's mouth turns up as their face breaks into a smile.
  909.
  910. Avaris turning from his study of the statue, steps towards Alarin, his motions
  911. smooth and dignfied. "Tell me, Alarin. What is Her Order like?"
  912. -
  913. Alarin Stormcrow says, "It's actually quite lovely! We're a small group, but very willing and ready
  914. to help one another."
  915.
  916. Alarin Stormcrow says, "And Lady Lantra tends to talk to us quite often."
  917.
  918. Avaris cocks his head at Alarin, the deep red of his antennae bending with
  919. interest. "Indeed? What does She speak to you of? I cannot imagine conversing easily with a Divine."
  920.
  921. Alarin Stormcrow says, "All sorts of things. Sometimes it's to ask about something."
  922.
  923. Alarin Stormcrow says, "At other times, it's because someone has prayed to Her and would send one of
  924. us to speak with that person."
  925.
  926. Avaris's compound eyes glow faintly with a pulse of more saturated blue, a soft,
  927. thrumming laugh playing out from his chest. "Ah. That, I admit, was my plan. I had intended to pray
  928. to Her for guidance on who to approach, if I could not find scrolls about Her."
  929.
  930. Alarin nods their head emphatically.
  931.
  932. Alarin Stormcrow says, "Aye, it would have definitely been a good idea!"
  933.
  934. Alarin Stormcrow says, "One of us would have been sent to you."
  935.
  936. Alarin Stormcrow says, "It usually is the case."
  937.
  938. In a smooth harmony of buzzes, you say, "It seems most serendipitous that I asked you. I am very
  939. glad to have met you, Alarin. You have been exceedingly kind, and helpful."
  940.
  941. Alarin Stormcrow says, "The feeling is definitely mutual!"
  942.
  943. Alarin beams broadly.
  944.
  945. ((Alarin continues to be absurdly nice and helps me out with gear and figuring out energy cubes and such!))
