- Background: jiyeon had a pretty devasting childhood. her father and mother got divorced when she was only 5 years old. her father started abusing them and started bossing them around like their slaves after her business failed and went bankrupt. her mother had to take all the household responsibility which double the amount of stress she was already receiving. her mother soon grew tired of her husband and so she decided to divorce him and move to New York with jiyeon's grandparents. they have ever since then settled there for good. however, in middle, the other kids started bulling jiyeon because she was asian. during all this, she developed a friendship with a chinese girl who has since then been her best friend. they joined Matt Stefania's dance classes and so jiyeon grew interested in dance and music in general. she was even more interested in kpop when her friends introduced her to EXO and other kpop groups.
