Possible Solution to Dissatisfaction In Government

Dear Reader,

I've noticed in the last handful of years that politics n Australia has become more like a reality show full of drama than an actual government doing their jobs. Many opinion polls have reflected that others feel in a similar way.

Back at school in history I recall learning about Australian politics and some of the changes in law that occurred back then. In particular I took note of the fact that on more than one occasion motions of no confidence have been brought forward. Particularly during the 70s in regards to Gough Whitlam and Malcolm Fraser.

I've also read about how some countries have a system in place where if X amount of the population agrees on something it can be brought before the government for review.

Given that a government is suppose to be chosen by the people to represent them and work for them, then to me it seems only logical that the Australian people should have the power to bring a no confidence motion against the government if they feel that's necessary.
Given it's very rare that everyone is completely happy with something the most obvious thing would be to ensure a reasonable number of the population is in agreement before such a thing is brought forward.
This would ensure that a small number of unhappy people couldn't force a new election to happen just because they were dissatisfied with the result. Similarly though if for example 70% of the population no longer believed the government was any good, then rather than having to wait for however many years, months, day etc till the next election, they could proceed to form a submission of no confidence.

Given that internet access is pretty much everywhere, on people's phones, in their homes, at their work, in libraries, at coffee shops etc.
More people than ever are connected and it's much easier for them to share their thoughts and feelings towards something.
Australia doesn't have the greatest internet speeds but for a large number of people, the speeds are fast enough to submit some form of text to a site somewhere.
Thus I would suggest maybe a petition or something similar to gather the support of the Australian public's feelings and thoughts about the current government.

This is simply my thought to a problem that I see happen all to often. Take of it what you will but as a member of the Australian voting public, I would love to see something like this exist one day.
