  1. GAME THEORY
  2.
  3. Dear <name>,
  4.
  5. As we told you in a recent email, our Game Theory online class will officially begin on Monday March 19. But you can - and should! - already now register and access the class at:
  6. http://game-theory-class.org/
  7. Even though you've already signed up, you will need to register and choose a password in the left side of the login box the first time you go to the site.
  8.
  9. Although the game theory class won't officially start until March 19th, we will be pre-releasing the first material. Right now you will find a first introductory lecture on class logistics. We strongly encourage you to log on and get familiar with the technology, syllabus and timetable. Also, you will find a link to a Game Theory Lab, in which you can play some of the games we'll discuss in class and get a visceral feel for them. Playing the games is definitely optional, but if you choose to play them we recommend doing it before you watch the first lecture.
  10.
  11. By Wednesday we will pre-release the first week's lectures as well as the first problem set. We will send you email when that happens.
  12.
  13. Please feel free to forward this email to friends who might be interested in game theory or who might just be interested in this new form of online education. If you have friends taking the class, we encourage you to form a study group, to watch the videos together, or discuss the material. We have a discussion forum on the class website to help with that, and we encourage the use of email and social media -- in particular, Google+ Hangouts for a live experience -- for study groups and other collaboration.
  14.
  15. Welcome to Game Theory Online! We're very excited that you can join us for the class and look forward to hearing from you through the online discussion forums!
  16.

  19. (Please do not respond to this email directly, but pose all questions not already answered on the website or syllabus through the online discussion forum.)

  22. PROBABILISTIC GRAPHICAL MODELS
  23.
  24. Dear <name>,
  25.
  26. As we told you in recent email, our Probabilistic Graphical Models class will officially begin on Monday March 19. But you can - and should! - already now register and access the class at:
  27. http://pgm-class.org/
  28. Even though you've already signed up, you need to register and choose a password in the left side of the login box the first time you go to the site.
  29.
  30. For those of you who want to get started sooner, we've just posted all the materials for the first week, as well as information about all the course requirements and the entire syllabus for the class. You can check it all out now, including the first problem set (on Bayesian networks), and the first programming assignment, in which you'll create your own Bayesian networks from scratch! Both of these will be due at 11:59pm on Tuesday, March 27. (When we give dates, we'll be using North American Pacific Daylight time.) There will be problem sets and a programming homework due every week.
  31.
  32. Please also forward this email to friends who might be interested in probabilistic graphical models / artificial intelligence / machine learning, or who might just be interested in this new form of online education. If you have friends taking the class, we encourage you to form a study group to watch the videos together or discuss the material. We've got a discussion forum on the pgm-class.org website to help with that, and we also encourage the use of email and social media - in particular, Google+ Hangouts for a live experience -- for study groups and other collaboration.
  33.
  34. Once again, welcome to Probabilistic Graphical Models - we're very excited about the adventure ahead, and look forward to hearing from you on the online discussion forums!
  35.
  36. Yours,
  37. Daphne Koller
