- "Anooon~!"
- A perfect voice broke through the darkness of your mind. That voice.. You couldn't be happier to hear it. You feel yourself smile as a result.
- "Anooooooon!"
- There it was again. It was so unbelievably adorable, so beautifully spoken. Your eyes flew open to greet the source: Your fluffy gote boy standing in your doorway, his trademark green wizard's hat darkening his bright fur to almost black. His face was beaming with happiness; That is, until he realized you were lying in bed under the covers. His face quickly shifted to a crestfallen expression. You could feel your heart tearing at the sight of it.
- "Oh no..." Ralsei muttered solemnly. "I-I woke you up, didn't I..? I'm awful..."
- His voice trailed off as he continued mumbling to himself and fidgeting in place. He'd broken eye contact with you, his gaze instead guiltily aimed at the floor. The longer he looked sad, the worse you felt. Wordlessly, you rose from your bed and made your way towards him, enveloping him in a hug. He squeaked adorably in surprise.
- "A..Anon..? Wha-"
- "Shut up you dork." You teased him. "You've gotta learn to stop beating yourself up."
- "B-But, I woke you-!"
- "There's nothing I'd rather wake up to than the sound of your voice, Rals." You interrupted, pulling back a little to look into his eyes. Even under his hat, you could tell he was blushing profusely. "Now, that said, what were you callin' for little guy?"
- "W-Well.." Ralsei looked immensely relieved after being consoled. He brought something up into the small space between you two that you hadn't even realized he was carrying. "Kris told me about this cool Lightner drink, s-so I figured I'd get some for us! He said it's super popular up here!"
- You blinked. It was.. a bottle of Absolut Vodka. Fancy stuff, but.. Worries of an overly inebrieted gote and his antics flooded your mind. What if he hurt himself? Who the hell sold him this stuff anyways? "..Rals? You, ah, realize this is alcohol, right? And some pretty strong alcohol, at that."
- "O-Oh." Ralsei looked downwards again. "Kris didn't tell me that.."
- Seeing him not at his happiest immediately made you discard all those worries. You'd be able to handle any problems that arose. "B-But that's fine!" You quickly followed up. "We can still drink it together!"
- The gote's face lit up again. "A-Are you sure?"
- "Yeah, why not?" You let go of the fluffy boy and began to make your way towards the kitchen. "C'mon, let's get some glasses."
- ...
- 2 shot glasses were now neatly lined on the kitchen counter, each filled with equal amounts of vodka. You'd tried to sneakily pour Rals just a little less, but he'd inadvertently noticed and pointed it out.
- "Oh! I think you didn't pour yourself enough!" He had said innocently.
- "T-That's you glass, actually..." You admitted. "But you're right. Here."
- Now you took your glass in hand and he took his. Ralsei looked excited. It made you happy to see him like this.
- "Cheers." You said, bringing your glass close to his.
- "Oh! Is this a Lightner tradition?" He beamed, cheerfully clinking his glass against yours. "I'm always so happy to learn about these!"
- You both downed your drinks. You didn't have much issue, but you noticed Rals scrunch his snout a little bit as he had his. You raised an eyebrow at him as a silent means of asking 'You alright?'
- "I'm fine! The taste, just, surprised me a bit.. But, it actually wasn't that bad! L-Let's have another!" He seemed eager to keep going.
- And so you poured yourself and your gote another shot.
- And another.
- And another.
- And another.
- Pretty soon, you'd lost track of how many you'd poured, as you and Rals began to engage in conversation about anything and everything, tongues loosed by drink. You both punctuated your sentences with a shot every so often. He told you about how he'd never been able to bring himself to learn a spell that could harm someone, you told him how much you admired him for that and then you talked about your favorite hobby. As you move from topic to topic, things started getting funnier, Ralsei started looking even cuter, and everything just seemed better. Pretty soon you'd moved on to recounting stories, with breaks in-between for copious amounts of laughter and table-slapping. You told him of that one hilarious thing that'd happened in High School, and he started a story about how he'd been so nervous at a restaurant one time that he'd accidentally ordered the most expensive thing on the menu.
- "A-And they brought it to me, and I thought, 'Hey!!! This isn't what I ordered!" He laughed giddily. He seemed much more animated than usual, and he was slurring his words a bit. You're not quite sure what the shot count was at, but it had probably reached the double digits by now. "B-But, I didn't say nothing!"
- "Ralsei!! Why!?" You burst out, wiping away a small tear of laughter from your eye.
- "I was too nerrrvous!!" The tipsy gote exclaimed. "B-But ohhhh man, when that bill came..!"
- "How much? How much!?"
- "Three-hundred and fifty freakin' Dark Dollars!" He shouted. "Threeee-Fiveeee-Ohhhh!!"
- The two of you couldn't contain yourselves, and burst out into uproarious laughter. The story was funny, but you both being this intoxicated probably tripled the comedy of the scenario. Your stomach was starting to really hurt from laughing so hard.
- "Nooo wayy! Ahahahaaah!" You exclaimed, slapping the counter. "A-And you still didn't say anythin'!?"
- "Nope!"
- "Oh my go-" You were cut short by your own laughter. "I can't believe you Rals!!" You put your head down onto the tabletop and just kept laughing.
- "Hahahah, I- HAhaahah, I know!! I-"
- Suddenly, you heard a loud "THUD!" next to you. You brought your head up, alarmed, and found a very smiley gote lying on the kitchen floor, his hat crumpled up next to him.
- "R-Rals!" You struggled to contain laughter. This wasn't funny, but.. It kinda was. But it wasn't..
- "I'm fiiinnneee!" Ralsei mumbled from the floor before trying to stumble to his feet. "J-Just gootttaa.."
- But it was to no avail. He hadn't even made it halfway up to his feet before his face met the floor again.
- "Stop!" You cried, sloppily getting up from your seat. You managed to put a halt to your laughter as you went to his side. "Rals! You're gonna hurt yourself..!"
- "D-Don't.. Worry.. 'bout me.." His voice was muffled by the floor.
- This wouldn't do. You felt yourself sober up a bit as your urge to protect your adorable wizard kicked in. You had to get him somewhere where it'd be substantially harder for him to drunkenly hurt himself, and clearly he wasn't going to walk there.
- You did have one idea, though.
- Ralsei again squeaked in surprise as he felt you lift him up from the ground in a princess carry. You took his hat from the floor and placed it back on his fluffy head.
- "A-Anooon!! I can walk, r-really! P-Put me doown!" He protested. His face was redder than you'd almost ever seen it. You weren't sure if it was because he was drunk or because he was very, very embarrassed to be carried like this. Probably both. "A-At least carry me a different way! I'm a-a prince, not a princess!"
- "Nope." You smiled at him, making his blush go even deeper. "You're too drunk to have a say in this, Lightweight."
- That nickname now had more than one meaning. Not only was he quick to get drunk, but he was also incredibly easy to carry. You'd have to keep that in mind and carry him around more often. His reaction to it was far too cute. He pouted adorably as you carried him away, seemingly upset at himself for being such a burden, when really that couldn't be farther from the truth.
- ...
- You gently laid him down on the bed, his face still just as blushy. Hopefully surrounded by soft sheets and a comfy mattress, he wouldn't be able to do himself much more harm.
- "Alriiight, Lightweight." You tease. "I'm gonna go clean up the kitchen.."
- "W-Wait!" Ralsei cried out as you began to walk away. He softened his voice as you turned back to look at him. "I.. I don't wanna be alone while I'm like this.."
- You could feel your heart quite literally melt at hearing that. Who were you to tell Rals no? And.. You probably weren't in the best condition to be cleaning up anything right now, anyways. You'd just take care of it tomorrow.
- "Okay, Lightweight." You smiled. "I'll stick around."
- He had a guilty, yet still immensely happy look on his face as you got underneath the covers with him. Almost immediately you felt his short fluffy self latch onto you in a hug.
- "I-I'm.. I'm sorry you're always stuck lookinng out for me, A-Anon.."
- "C'mooon, Rals. Don't you think I'd have said something by now if it bothered me at all?" You hope you didn't sound as drunk as you think you did.
- "I.. Y-You're right, I-I just.."
- He fell silent for a bit. You used your free hand to pet his head as he nuzzled into you. You could stay like this for eternity.
- "I.. Just, r-really like you, man.. Y-You're.. You're always there for me, a-and I.. I.." He eventually said, tightening his grip on you. "I'm.. I'm never gonna let you go, Anon.."
- Now it was your turn to blush. Was he always this cute!? The answer to that was yes, but right now he seemed doubly so. Maybe it was because you were drunk, maybe it was because you were so happy to hear him say that, but you were at a complete loss for words. You simply continued patting his fluffy head in silence.
- Your lack of response to his confession must have been making him worry, however; You could feel him trembling somewhat underneath the covers. Of course, this wasn't the first time that he'd made such a confession to you, nor would it be the last. But that didn't stop him from worrying.
- "Oh, o-ohh man..!" He stammered nervously. "Is.. Is the room spinning o-or is it just me, haha? S-Spinning more than it just was, I mean-"
- "Ralsei.."
- "Y-Yes..?" The gote whispered.
- "I love you, pal. I love you a lot."
- "Wah, I-! Ah.. M-Me too, Anon.." His nervous movements stopped. "I-I know.. I've heard you say that a million times, b-but.. I-I-It always.. f-feels good to hear it again.."
- Aw.
- It wasn't long before Ralsei's breathing slowed to a point where you could tell he had fallen asleep. You wondered how much of this he would remember before deciding it didn't really matter. Either way, he was in for quite a round of teasing when you both woke up. You smiled and thought about all the ways you'd poke lightheartedly at him tomorrow morning as you drifted off to sleep yourself, unable to wait any longer before you can spend another waking day with Ralsei.
- "Good night.. Lightweight~."
- END.
