  34.
  35. ✘ | PERSONALITY: impulsive, confident, boisterous - jina is nearly the definition of a modern day rebel. she makes all of her decisions on her own with an excited grin on her face, and, whether it's a good thing or not, based on her current feeling, rather than minding possible negative setbacks. needless to say, she's a rather positive person. when she makes mistakes, she simply tells herself that "next time it'll be better" with a self-assuring grin, and when her friends make mistakes, she defends them passionately - she stands up fiercely against those who criticize her and her pals.
  36.
  37. ...which is not necessarily a great thing. she tends to be irresponsible and even a bit stupid concerning serious situations. she's very loud, friendly, boisterous and competitive by nature, so when she sees that someone she knows is sad, it's a bit difficult for her to comprehend the situation, let alone react. a lot of people dislike her at first, and maybe still dislike her after getting to know her, because she appears to be overly confident in herself and her abilities, loudly proclaiming them to whoever so much as brings the topic of their band up.
  38.
  39. jina always brings her all to every competition she takes part in - this includes facing off against the pretty boys threatening to take her team's place in the auditorium. whenever she plays her instrument, she holds a big smirk on her face because 1) she feels totally and utterly confident of her side's skills and 2) she knows smiling adds charisma to her character. in general, she grins and smiles to everyone she meets, even to those she doesn't like. as aforementioned; very loud, friendly, irresponsible, supportive, competitive, a bit of a bragger and unstoppable optimist. also, curses quite a bit when excited or mad.
  40.
  41. ✘ | BACKGROUND: she was born in atlanta, georgia to a korean father, jiseong, and an american mother, anna. a bit aprubtly, though, they had a divorce agreed upon by both parties, and jina's father had to take care of her throughout her childhood. before she even knew how to walk, she and her father had settled in a small house in seoul. jiseong wasn't exactly a stay-at-home father, but he did care for his daughter enough to teach her to take the bus to school and pay for her school supplies.
  42.
  43. noticing how often he was absent from home, jina developed a sense of individuality, beginning to believe that she could take care of herself and her own self was all she needed to survive. it wasn't entirely true, but it made sense that this was what she thought considering her parent's seemingly never-ending absence. over the years she realized that the things that made her happy weren't being quiet and studying as her father would've probably liked - what made her happy was being loud, making lots of friends all the time and setting studying aside for "more important things."
  44.
  45. her father sort of realized that she was turning into the kind of person who would rather chat with friends and listen to music than study like he'd have wanted. he tried being strict and getting her to get better grades and stop being so boisterous (and frankly, a bit annoying), but this only made her more determined to keep her current lifestyle. she would constantly rebel against her father - not in violent or shady ways, but by being bothersome - for example, by texting her friends during the few times he was home for dinner, and blasting rock music from her small, locked room so that the instruments sounded across the whole house.
  46.
  47. she may have been a bit of a problematic child, but as time passed her father eventually relented to her forming personality. even with his acceptance, it didn't go away, but it made jina happy that he could finally accept her the way she was.
  48.
  49. ✘ | SLOT: brand new moves.
  50. ✘ | BACKUP SLOT: break my heart - i could technically rewrite everything to fit that position better.
  51.
  52. ✘ | WHY THEY STARTED DOING MUSIC: she'd always had a love for bands and rock and (quote) "all that other cool shit." when her father finally got her a guitar (explained better in "trivia"), she started training immediately, every day, before studying and after (if she even did any studying at all).
  53. ✘ | BIGGEST DREAM: to be a rockstar or member of a band with thousands upon thousands of adoring fans. (step 1, be in a band - complete! step 2, being famous and receiving the love she believes she deserves - a work in progress...) also, being remembered.
  54. ✘ | BIGGEST FEAR: honestly? dying a virgin. (and being forgotten, being irrelevant.)
  55.
  56. ✘ | LIKES:
  57. ~ dogs - she's the type of person who'll walk down a street, see the flash of a dog's tail out of the very corner of her eye, and chase it and its owner with extreme speed while screaming about how she wants to pet the puppy.
  58. ~ coffee - she is, surprisingly, an early riser, and often buys herself coffee before attending school. sometimes she texts her friends and gets them coffee, too.
  59. ~ baseball jackets - they're her favorite type of jacket. she has at least five in her closet and alternates between them every day. to see her without one is a rare sight.
  60. ~ making friends - she doesn't care much for the phrase "quality over quantity" and tries to befriend pretty much every student at the academy she's in (other than the seven boys threatening her team's band practice). she rebukes any comments telling her she's shallow, and says that having a huge circle of friends can only benefit you - though she herself recognizes that a lot of the people she talks to find her annoying.
  61. ~ the limelight - she doesn't go to great lengths to get attention, because she wants to earn it with her skills instead of any kind of manipulation - as in, she'll grin and be proud of attention she gets for playing the guitar well, but she won't really care for attention she receives as a result of a rumor or her appearance.
  62. ✘ | DISLIKES:
  63. ~ cats - which is kind of ironic, because whenever she sees one she hisses and gets as far away from it as possible. she's not allergic. she just doesn't trust them, for some reason (which is a bit odd, considering her intense trust for almost everyone and everything she comes upon).
  64. ~ sadness - it's not often that she doubts herself and locks herself in her room while playing subtle, dark guitar melodies on her speakers, but when she does it's hard to gain back the confidence to believe in herself, to believe that she's incredible and awesome again.
  65. ~ lessons - just about any lesson involving theory or math drives her nuts - out of boredom.
  66. ~ modest hair colors - i.e. dark brown, black. she may find others attractive in them, but she feels like when she dyes her own hair any of those colors, she becomes 10% more similar to the crowd. and she doesn't want that. she wants to stand out.
  67. ~ blame - whenever something bad happens, it angers her that there always has to be someone blaming everything on someone else. in her opinion, no one deserves to take all the shame, and there's no need for someone to be blamed, anyway.
  68. ✘ | TRIVIA:
  69. ~ for her whole life she lived in korea and didn't pay much attention in english class, so despite her american heritage, she can barely speak what could've been her mother tongue.
  70. ~ her father bought her her current guitar on her 16th birthday - at this point he'd been supportive of jina's passions, so he'd decided to finally get her what she'd been begging to have for so long; an instrument.
  71. ~ due to the few times she's actually tried to study for a test, her grades are a little below average - not bad enough to be failing, though. (she's good at cheating off other people's tests if she needs to.)
  72. ~ colors her hair extremely often and in extreme shades. her favorite colors are the bright warm colors, and she dons them the most often - pink, red, orange, blond. (some of her friends worry about her scalp, but she just laughs it off and says she's "a tough cookie," and that she'd make it work even if she was bald.)
  73. ~ her father constantly claims that the only feature jina has attained from her mother is her individualism and passion for rock music. (and that nothing else transferred, i.e. caucasian features, knowledge of english).
  74.
  75. — GOOD BOY
  76.
  77. ✘ | LOVE INTEREST: min yoongi
  78. ✘ | BACKUP LOVE INTEREST: jung hoseok
  79.
  80. ✘ | YOUR CHARACTER'S FIRST IMPRESSION OF THEM: to be honest, at first, she didn't care much for him. she was pretty fired up at the fact that his group would dare to challenge her and her friends at that point. she didn't care about who was who in the team, she just wanted to win against them as soon as possible and roasted them as often as she could. she only earned a certain amount of respect for min yoongi individually when she was told that he was their songwriter - even if she had a hard time admitting it to even herself, she was impressed by his talents.
  81. ✘ | THEIR FIRST IMPRESSION OF YOUR CHARACTER: in the beginning he thought that she was annoying, loud, and tried way too hard to be impressive and stand out. that didn't change for a while, actually, and his disdain towards her attitude only faded slightly when he noticed how well she played on her instrument. it made him realize she had somewhat of a reason to brag, but her boisterous attitude still annoyed him greatly.
  82. ✘ | HOW YOUR CHARACTER ACTS AROUND THEM: at the starting point of their interactions, she was still in her "angry because these random dudes are threatening to take something away from my team" phase. she would scowl, furrow her eyebrows, or generally just try to avoid him (and the other members of his troupe) as much as possible, since she wasn't used to disliking people from the moment she stumbled upon them, nor was she accustomed to having to fight for something against people her age. (whenever she "rebelled" against anyone, it was usually her father or teachers, not other students.) as their relationship progresses, she stops being salty and starts purposefully annoying, i.e. hanging around him despite him telling her to leave, telling him stupid jokes, smirking and grinning around him all the time. all of this was some form of teasing. (more on this later.)
  83. ✘ | HOW THEY ACT AROUND YOUR CHARACTER: utterly and completely annoyed, from beginning to end. during the starting point, he mostly just ignores her, totally fine with the fact that she aims to avoid him as much as possible. unfortunately, circumstances sort of force them to come across each other often, and while yoongi's apathetic and mostly disdainful attitude barely changes, jina's does. she slowly stops being spiteful towards him and just gets used to him, despite him being one of her self-proclaimed "rivals." when she becomes less grumpy and more of a tease to him, it gets on his nerves at first, but after a while he grows accustomed to it and secretly enjoys bantering with her. (basically, at the start, he brushes her off and gets annoyed whenever she comes up and bugs him. later on he sort of realizes she likes hanging around him for whatever reason, and that he, for some other unknown reason, enjoys when she's around. he still tells her to leave or find something better to do than disturb him, but in a more playful manner.)
  84. ✘ | THEIR RELATIONSHIP: they sort of go from 1. enemies to 2. bantering friends to 3. mutual crushes, although the last part barely happens? let me explain.
  85. so in the beginning, as i've explained, they have a great distaste (or lack of caring) towards one another. they try to avoid each other, roast each other, and do their best to one up their "opponent." certain circumstances (like the rivalry between the groups, the fact that they're all music students) force them to spend time with one another, which affects jina greatly, because she learns not to be totally stubborn, and realizes that maybe yoongi isn't so bad. she's always respected him for producing music for his team, but only at this point does she take actual interest in him. this whole polar opposites banter happens for the majority of their relationship, starting off with jina being annoying and yoongi roasting her or brushing her off, and slowly turning into jina affectionately teasing him and him teasing her back, still roasting her but not as seriously and not as hard. they come to some kind of silent agreement that they're friends.
  86. i'm thinking that near the end of the story (or just at the end of the story) they realize their romantic frustration and that they've actually been unknowingly flirting and pining after each other for a while. both of them facepalm or grow frustrated at themselves because they know how much they truly care about the person they've been bantering with.
  87.
  88. ✘ | COUPLE TRIVIA:
  89. ~ they're the definition of polar opposites, at least at the beginning of their relationships. some say "jina is the fire and yoongi is the water." (of course, jina objects to this, but it's actually pretty accurate.)
  90. ~ jina actually kind of enjoys the "idol music" yoongi and his friends make. (it takes her a long, long time to admit this to her rival, and, just like she expected, he teases her about it. it makes her flustered and unable to retort.)
  91. ~ when they're close, jina asks yoongi if he can make songs with her, but instead of its usual sound, she'd like to add her guitar skills to the mix. he agrees. this is kind of a secret.
  92. ✘ | SCENE REQUEST:
  93. ~ sometime during the phase when jina is becoming less spiteful and more teasing, she says she considers him her "rival." yoongi retorts by saying that "rivals are on equal ground to each other," implying she's not on his level and basically roasting her with an expressionless face. jina is shocked and offended, not knowing how to react at first.
  94. ~ (in the "friendly teasing" part of the relationship) jina confesses that she's a virgin and yoongi pokes fun at her for it. (author can decide whether he really does find it amusing or if he's bluffing and is a virgin himself; your choice!)
  95. ~ when yoongi notices one day that jina isn't trying to be annoying around him like she usually is. in fact, he's barely seen her all day. he finds her and asks to come to her house, and to his surprise, she accepts. the walk home is silent and honestly pretty uncomfortable. at some point she invites him to her room, and it's quiet and awkward at first, but after yoongi genuinely asks her if she's okay, she kind of just breaks down crying and tells him her problems. it's one of those rare times when she feels like she's not a great person, thinking that nobody actually likes her, and other such worries. it's pretty shocking for yoongi to suddenly see this side of her, but he doesn't show his surprise and comforts her, hugs her, and is the first other person who assures her that she's a good person, she's not worthless, and that even if some people dislike her she shouldn't give a damn about their opinions - and that he likes her. (this could be how the "3. mutual crushes" stage ends, or it might just be a platonic moment - your choice.)
  96.
  97. — LOSER
