- A chill wind blew through the well lit room, coming in from a smashed in window pane hastily covered with a rag, pinned down by an assortment of broken furniture. "So this is where you run off to when you're not stalking me, huh?" Blunt, but to the point. Frisk couldn't afford to play games anymore. Asriel was still in shock, stuttering and stammering. "St-stalk? I - I..." Asriel trailed off, staring at the floor. Frisks hand locked beneath his brothers jaw, gently lifting it so Asriel was staring him in the eyes. It didn't take much lifting considering the goat monster had a good few feet in height over Frisk. "I'm not here to accuse you of anything bro, but.. things have happened today. Really bad things. Someone is dead. Maybe more by now. Souls are missing. things have gotten incredibly serious very quickly." Asriel's eyes shimmered in the fluorescent light, quivering. "I.. I've just been here after you.. chased me off this morning, bro."
- Frisk winced, remembering the roasting he had given Asriel earlier. "I want to believe you Az but look at yourself. What're you covered in?" Asriel looked down at himself and sheepishly hid his arms behind his back, kicking the floor while looking away, blush suffusing his face. "Thi-this? Oh it's.. something I was working on all day as a.. gift... it's... Well. It's not done yet, you can't see it." Frisk looked around. Thousands of pictures of his face covered the walls. An impressive shrine. "Bro, this place.. why? I love you but this.. it can't be right." Asriel's iris shrunk as Frisk walked around, eyeing the room. Dark, Asriel's voice rumbled from deep down. "You wouldn't understand, Frisk. It's - ever since you saved me... No - I can't. If I tell you why you'll never want to be with me ever again. Not unless.." Moving quickly, Asriel grabbed Frisk, overpowering him in moments, locking his arms behind his back against Asriel's chest, lifting him up high. "You know too much bro. I've got to make sure you never leave ever again."
- "Bro, don't do this" Frisk cried out. "I can still save you. We can fix this, together!" Asriel was trembling beneath Frisk. He could hear small bleating hiccups. "You don't understand, Frisk. You can't. Everything I do, I do for you." Frisk squirmed in Asriel's grip, his iron like claws digging into his arms, cutting off circulation, straining the muscles underneath. Frisks soul began to glow as he tried to concentrate, readying himself to fight his brother. "Don't think I'm going to let you, bro. You are mines, I won't let you go." Asriel's soul began to glow, a radioscopy of colour exploding from him. A side effect of the way Frisk had saved him had left him with amazing powers, stronger than the strongest boss monster. Nowhere near the power's he'd had as a god but impressive none the less. But why wasn't he using the soul he'd captured to empower himself, Frisk thought. With that this fight would be over in moments.
- Frisk had no hope in beating Asriel in a battle of magic, not a true one. Physically he was weaker, too. His only chance lay in his brain and the way he acted. Quick as lightning, Frisk leaned forward, aiming for the exposed digits that were pinning him down and clamped down as hard as he could. The giant goat monster yowled in pain while letting go, tossing Frisk away from him. Landing on his feet, Frisk turned, facing his brother. Asriel was ringing his hands, grimacing in pain. Fur lined the inside of Frisks mouth, causing him to spit it out in a thick messy gob that landed on the ground. A signal to start the fight proper it seemed because Asriel charged, headfirst, leaning forward straight for Frisk. His horns gleaming white in the fluorescent light. Frisk almost felt sad that he didn't have a red piece of cloth to wave around. Not being strong Or fast Frisk was at least clever. Dodging and stopping Asriel wouldn't be an option, so he did the next best thing. He opened his arms wide and extended his legs. widening the target for Asriel to hit.
- The goat monster slammed into Frisk with a raging fury, blasting him backwards, lifting his head as he did rocketing Frisk diagonally upwards. Frisk was practically flying until he collided with the wall. He slammed into it with a sick crunching noise before slowly sliding down it. Asriel was standing, stock still. Shock on his face. "Wh.. why didn't you move?! You really are stupid, aren't you?!" Frisk was lying on the floor in a crumpled mess, a trickle of blood oozing from his mouth. A smile lit up his face as he looked up at his brother. He'd known that letting him seriously hurt Frisk would stop him. Probably. It was a gamble but it paid off, for now. "Why can't you understand, Frisk?!" Asriel screamed, giant tears rolling down his cheeks. "I need to keep you safe here, I'm going to protect you from the world that is going to destroy us. I'm going to go to that horrible woman and seal her away I'm going to- "Wait, wait!" croaked Frisk with great effort. "Do you mean.. Dana? Asriel she's.. You can't mean her. She's dead. You ripped her apart with your bare hands! I went and saw. Her soul is missing, too. Who else could've, no, would've done something like that?" Asriel stared at Frisk lying among dusty rolled up scrolls and bits of papers with his face drawn on them. "K-killed?" whispered Asriel. "M-murdered? I'd never.. Not after..."
- Frisk fumbled in his pockets, groaning with the strain. "This ring was on my desk this morning bro. Who else could've left it? It's covered in her.. blood, Az. It was in a box.. like the ones.. you.." Something clicked inside Frisk's brain. His secretary hadn't told Frisk who dropped this present off he'd just assumed... and the crime scene, there wasn't anything pointing to Asriel having done anything. "You really think I could do something like that..? Frisk?" Asriel's pupils crawled around his skull, skittering and widening, his breathing getting shallower. Asriel's head tilted to the side, a tiny grin cracking open revealing a line of long shiny sharp teeth, glistening in the rooms fluorescent light. Looming over Frisk lying against the wall, Asriel looked down, his grin widening with each passing moment. Fear soaked into Frisk. He knew there was only one thing to do in this situation before it got worse. It was another risk but he'd gone this far, what's another push into the unknown?
- Frisk struggled , picking himself up using the wall and reached up , wincing in pain he gently took a hold of Asriel's horns. In one swift motion he pulled Asriel down and kissed him, grinding his lips deep into Asriel's mouth. The shock brimmed through the white goat monster, his fur standing on end, sparking with an unseen energy. It lasted only a moment, but for Frisk and Asriel time dilated as they explored each others mouths, their tongues eagerly searching and slipping, clinging and entwining with each other. Small gasps escaped them as they tried to breath through it. Frisk constantly pulled Asriel back any time he attempted to retreat. This felt good. Great even. It also felt - right Frisk thought as his tender feelings swirled around inside his head, a dizzying sensation of his heart fluttering and thundering claiming him. The aches from Asriel's beating melted away.
- As soon as it began it was over. Asriel was panting, heavily. His dark eyes softening, the sharp teeth flattening, all the frenzy and fervour that had been building up had evaporated leaving behind a blushing goat monster that had just experienced his first ever kiss. "Frisk.. why.." Frisk grinned at the tall lanky monster sitting above him. "I'm so sorry Az. I don't believe for a second that you did anything it's just all the evidence pointed to it and- Asriel's snout hovered mere inches from Frisk's face, getting closer. "Answer me, bro! Why did you do that? I don't care about this whole thing right now just.. please, talk to me. Don't brush me off like you always do." Giant blobs of tears began raining down on Frisk again. The frustration coming through Asriel's face made Frisk pause. "I.. don't really know" answered Frisk truthfully. "It felt right. I've always kinda felt more than just a siblings love for you I guess but my job always.." Trailing off, looking to the side Frisk sighed. "Also.. I'm sorry. I should never have doubted my cute lil bro."
- "Whoever did this had access to the embassy.. could slip past my secretary.." Frisk sighed again. "I just can't place who it is. Why would they do this? What's to gain apart form humanity hating monsters again?" Asriel was still blushing while biting his thumb, looking down at Frisk with apprehension in his eyes. "I need your help bro. We can't let whoever this is get away with it." Frisk picked himself up and pulled Asriel's head down to his level, staring deeply into his emerald green eyes, the iris' contracting as Frisk focused on them. "We can talk about that kiss more after we sort out this problem. Can we bench it until then?" A series of expressions flew through Asriel's face, a mixture of confusion, apprehension and possibly fear, it was hard for Frisk to tell, even knowing his brother as well as he did. Slowly solidifying, Asriel's watery eyes blinked and became set. "Ok, bro. We'll do this. Let's go save the world one last time." Frisk grinned and pulled Asriel in for one more embrace. Together they made loud wet smacking noises that echoed through the room. Tiny bleats escaped Asriel as Frisk grabbed his hand. The blush heating his face to extreme levels, steam was nearly rising from his breath. "C'mon bro, let's leave this... place. We can go home and try to work this out like we did as kids." Asriel barely nodded before being dragged along by the determined human. The comical visage of a small person leading the large lurking monster would've made people laugh if anyone was around to see it.
- Stumbling through the darkness, Frisk and Asriel pushed themselves through dark unlit streets. Frisk looked behind his shoulder at the goat monster he was leading by hand. "Why such a far out place, bro? How did you even find such a place?" Asriel stayed silent, staring at his feet. Mumbling, Frisk only caught something about secrets and not wanting anyone to know. "This place is dangerously far from anyone else, Az. I don't want you coming here without me again, got that?" Asriel beamed, his blush lighting up the darkness around them. "Y-yeah bro, ok!" The walk continued mostly in silence, only disturbed by Frisk cursing if he missed his footing on the broken up pavements, covered in weeds that had burst through the concrete. "Frisk?" Asriel had stopped, his hand released Frisk's and slumped limply to his side as he stared at the ground in the darkness. Frisk could barely see his outline, white tufts of fur almost translucent in what little light shined from the moon above. "Yeah, bro?" Frisk tried to hide the impatience in his voice. The longer they spent here the more damage whatever and whoever had committed those crimes could be doing and that terrified Frisk.
- "Az... please, if this is about you and me.. people's lives are in danger." Asriel stared down at his brother. His face unreadable in the pitch black. "What.. would you have done if it had been me that murdered that woman? If I had snapped.. even more than I already have.." Frisk could see Asriel's arm move towards his other and grasp his shoulder tightly. Immediately, Frisk embraced Asriel's torso, it being the only part he could reach without stretching, burying his face into Asriel's chest. "I'd save you, Az. Like I always have, right?" Asriel looked down at his human brother and could see his soul, gently glowing in the night. It's beauty always had captivated him and now staring at it made his heart thunder. Easily noticing, Frisk smiled. "You big weenie, stop perv looking at my soul and let's go." Asriel erupted, the skin beneath his fur exploding bright red. Shrill, his voice pierced the night sky; "I- I am not a perv! Y-You.." Answerless, Asriel could only fume at his grinning brother.
- Before long, the dark streets gave way to late night civilisation light, dull and orange, but welcoming and familiar. "Not long 'til we're home bro. Mom was so worried earlier when we couldn't find you." "Yeah.. sorry, Frisk. Hey.. I have a question." Without pausing, Frisk answered. "No, Az". The giant goat monster frowned, his brow furrowing above his large eyes. "No fair!" he squealed - petulantly pouting at his brother. "You don't even know what I was going to ask!" "Of course I know what you were going to ask, the answer's still no you big dork." Grunting, Asriel let go of Frisks hand and tucked his own into pockets and followed Frisk, dragging his feet along, huffing and puffing and murmuring below his breath. "You really are cool, Frisk, you know that, right?" Frisk tried not to pause. Compliments from his brother always made his heart skip a beat. "No I'm not" Frisk said, biting his lip. "I'm a terrible brother who does messed up things, I'm a horrible ambassador that didn't catch on to a monster being so unhinged they'd do.. what they did. I'm a horrible friend, to let my you suffer for so long thinking it was just a phase. I even thought you'd murder someone. What was I thinking?!" Asriel spun Frisk around and embraced him tightly. "Stop it! Stop! This isn't you, Frisk!"
- Asriel felt warm, pressed against Frisk, smothering him. Tiny muffles escaped Frisk's lips, Softened by the large sweater Asriel was smooshing him up against. "You're so kind and gentle Frisk. So thoughtful and smart and just.. You're my everything, Bro." Frisk smiled into Asriel's' chest, enjoying the heat and comfort. More muted sounds came from the tiny human which Asriel only nodded at. "Yeah Frisk. Let's take care of this together like you said. I need you to be strong. Together we can do this." Asriel released a dazed Frisk who stumbled into the cold night air, free from Asriel' bear trap-like grip, both glad and a little bit sad to be released from such a warm embrace. "Thanks Az.. I really needed that. Grabbing his brothers hand again, Frisk pushed on, dragging his large goat brother behind him, increasing the pace from before. All around the duo the city sparkled in the night. A deep orange glow suffusing the buildings with a warm glow. Even this late at night it was far too quiet. The wind blew through well lit alleyways eerily whistling a mournful song.
- Frisk's heart skipped a beat as he realised the situation unfolding around him. Whoever had taken that soul had done something terrible. He was too late to save anyone. A large white paw grasped Frisk's shoulder and squeezed. Looking back, he could see the shine in Asriel's eyes. Large and pitiful staring at Frisk as he shook in place. "We'll find them Frisk. Promise. Together we can do anything." Frisk only nodded brusquely as he broke into a run. Home wasn't too far from where they were. Mom was strong but if a monster could clear out a city in a matter of hours.. Panic rose in Frisk's throat, clogging it. Breathing was difficult as he ran faster and faster, his brother keeping up besides him easily with long strides. Right in front of them as they turned a corner was a raging inferno. Down the path of golden flowers curling up in the heat was their childhood home, a shell of its self, collapsing inwards, burning and smoking. Frisk screamed as he bolted forwards, only Asriel's quick thinking held him back, grabbing Frisk's torso pushing against the ribs he'd bruised earlier. A grunt escaped Frisks lips as he struggled. Rippling beneath him Asriel's muscles were straining hard, bulging underneath the soft cloth working hard to keep Frisk from running into the hellhole that had been there home. "MOM" screamed Frisk. "ANYONE." After a few minutes Frisk had no more energy to expend and collapsed into his brothers embrace. Great heaving sobs erupted from the human ambassador. Raging anguish seeping from his pores. Together, he and Asriel kneeled before their home as it turned to ash and blew away in the dark night air. Silent, Asriel only held Frisk close, afraid to let him go in case his brother decided to dive head first into the debris.
- The first morning light descended upon the golden field of flowers lighting them up. The fire had finally died down enough that Asriel was willing to enter the ruins with Frisk to see if they could find any clues. The only thing that remained of Toriel's house was the brick work below and a few beams standing starkly amidst nothing but air. The ceiling had collapsed in on it's self leaving a large gap covered in rubble where the living room had been. Frisk could still imagine his mother sitting calmly on her chair by the fireplace - now a hole in the ground - knitting or reading. A tiny set of glasses resting on her large motherly face. Just thinking of Toriel would cause Frisk to burst into tears if he hadn't cried himself dry throughout the night, raging against his brother for stopping him from entering the flames. Frisk had felt especially guilty about that. Toriel was Asriel's mother more than she was Frisk's, even if she never treated any better than the other. What Asriel must've been feeling.. Frisk shook his head and continued to look. He'd find the monster behind this and stop him. No matter what.
- It was Asriel shouting from a distance that knocked Frisk from his thoughts. "Over here, bro" Look!" Frisk clamoured over a pile of rubble, nearly tripping in his rush to reach Asriel. "Look, Frisk" cried the Boss monster. Sitting in his hands was a small bit of paper. Magically enchanted it had a few scribbled words on it. 'Children' it read - 'I've been taken along with all the rest of the monsters and humans. I was able to quickly write this note when I realised we were being targeted. I don't know where we will be taken to but Frisk - I know you can find us. I believe in you my child. And Asriel, I know you'll be there too. Please protect your brother. Love, Mom. Asriel crunched the paper to his chest, giant tears falling down his face. "She's alive, Frisk! Mom's alive.. " It was Asriel's turn to break down. Frisk propped him up as best he could, leaning under him and gently holding the bawling goat. Frisks face was set as he held his brother, crying into his shoulder, the tears soaking into his hair in the morning sunlight.
- Determination flared within him, exploding forth in a torrent.
- He was coming for his family.
- And he was going to save them.
