----FAQ
>What is this?
A single-elimination tournament of 128 characters that was first started in 2018.
They are a pair of tournaments held yearly on /co/ which last for 10 days each. They
are presented in a meta context as if they were beauty pageants with Yotsuba, /co/nrad,
/co/lette, Hope Corgi, J/aco/lyn, Jenny Wakeman, and Johnny Bravo presiding as judges.
People post drawings, vocaroos, greentexts, storytimes, rec guides, videos, or edits of characters
they like that are nominated. The champion wins a "Jenny" (Ms.) or "Johnny" (Mr.) and is permanently retired from competing.

Ms. /co/ and Mr. /co/lympus will be the eighth edition of these tournaments on /co/. There are similar character tournaments on /v/ and /mlp/.

>Why do this?
Although the main purpose of the tournaments may be best conceived of as a yearly decision for garlanding /co/'s favorite characters, it also acts as a major gathering for OC creation, /co/ media & character appreciation and discovery, and just general fun.

>How does this work?
Vote in the poll for which characters you like the most. Each round lasts around 23-24 hours, and polls & results are posted at the end of each round.

Must receive 10 replies
24 hr period

>Poll Picture
The poll picture will be taken from the nomination threads.
If the picture is unofficial material, inappropriate to post on the board, or is intentionally misleading then the picture may be switched for one that better represents the character.
As there are many images during this period, the chosen picture may not be the first posted or one with the most replies. Pictures are under final review of said hosts that year.

>Character Limit
For Qualifier Poll
Each series can only have a maximum of three (3) characters in the main bracket. These are decided by their votes in the qualifying poll. However, there is no restriction on the number of characters that can be nominated from a single series.
>Series (individual shows) can only have 3 characters (i.e. 3 characters from STAS, BTAS, or PPG)
>No character limit on DC/Marvel/Disney-core franchise characters due to their size, huge variety, and difficult implementation

----Eligible Nominees
>Characters that originate in /co/ western material only.

>Puppets allowed (e.g. Muppets, Sesame Street, etc.)

>Mascots are allowed as long as they are /co/.

>Grandfather Clause: Any character that was allowed in past Ms. /co/ & Mr. /co/ tournaments is eligible.

>Generalization Statute: Multiple versions of the same character --- be it from various adaptations, spin-off series, or alternative universes --- are combined into a single entrant. In other words, you are voting for the entire history of that character, not just one particular iteration.
Example: Zatanna (DC Comics, Young Justice, DC Super Hero Girls, etc.)

>Characters cannot be Board-Tans, OC Donut Steels, or originate from a meme

>Live-action actors are not allowed.

>Bannable contestants are not allowed (No colored horse show characters).

>Real-life politicians that are portrayed as cartoon characters / caricatures are not allowed, satirical or otherwise. (Clone High clones are not considered caricatures)

>Objects are not allowed. (Exclusions apply with objects treated like characters such as Plank).

>Elite Eights are temporarily ineligible for nomination next year, with champions permanently ineligible

>There is only one gag character allowed into brackets. (Women/Men in disguises (in their respective tourney) or other living beings, animals and anthropomorphized characters are not considered gag characters.)

>Characters that aren't male or female (or are unknown gender/sex) are allowed in either tournament but cannot participate in both in the same year.

>Multiple characters cannot be nominated in one post.

>Generalization Statute 2018
Multiple versions of the same character --- be it from various adaptations, spin-off series, or alternative universes --- are combined into a single entrant. In other words, you are voting for the entire history of that character, not just one particular iteration.

>Nomination Tie Clause 2018
If there is a tie for nominations the character who was nominated first will be allowed in.

>Round Tie Clause 2018
During the rounds, if a character ties then the winner is decided by seeding.

>Grandfather Clause 2019
Any character that has previously made it into Ms. /co/ or Mr. /co/lympus tournaments is eligible to participate.

>One-Month Old/FOTM Clause 2019
Any character making their first debut in the entirety of the previous month is ineligible to compete.
-Meaning if the competition starts on Oct. 8th, no character debuting from Sept. 1st to Oct. 8th is eligible to compete
-Similarly, if the competition starts on Sept. 10th, no character debuting from Aug. 1st to Sept. 10th is eligible to compete

>Spinoff Clause 2023
Characters who originate from spinoffs are counted as a separate series.

>Traditional Bracketing (2024)
Bracketing is done in a traditional seed tournament fashion (i.e. lowest seed vs. highest seed down to 64 vs. 65). This is the original bracketing format /co/ tourneys have used. The clause follows a few years in which tourneys were done by randomized bracketing via consensus until it was reversed also by consensus.
