- [[Players reading this should note that these are NOT out of character rules. This is a collection of in character regulations, which are how the in game company/military would deal with these problems.]]
- [[Also note that certain sections are void during non-serious roleplay.]]
- -- Dress Code --
- Certain positions are expected to maintain a specific dress code. The strictness of these codes are defined as Enforced, and recommended.
- Failure or refusal to adhere to an enforced dress code may result in suspension or termination. It could result in a detainment or arrest, or demotion from currently held position, down to the lowest grade of assistant.
- Security staff are required to wear security gear. This is defined as a ballistic vest.
- Medical staff are required to wear sterile medical clothing. This is defined as the medical jacket.
- Command staff is required to wear easily identifiable command clothing, such as the captain with his jacket, pants, and cap.
- Note that no staff onboard the ship are allowed to wear another department's clothing, with the exception of the blue and yellow jumpsuits, and ballistic helmet.
- The captain is allowed to assign the first officer a captain's cap, if there is a spare. Otherwise, the captain's cap is to be kept solely to the captain.
- Failure or refusal to adhere to suggested dress codes are not valid grounds for punishment.
- It is suggested that engineering staff wear their jumpsuits at all times, to be easily identifiable.
- It is suggested that security staff wear their ballistic helmets at all times, for protection from harm.
- -- Alerts --
- During a situation where an alarm is raised, it is required that the crew remain calm and collected. All orders from security and command are to be followed, and random searches are permitted. All crew must report to their department, and attend to their duties. Medical must be on standby to treat the injured, security must be patrolling and protecting sensitive persons, cargo, and areas, and engineering must be on standby to repair the ship, and keep the reactor functional.
- -- Crisis Management --
- The following scenarios are all emergency situations in which there are a specific set of rules that should be followed to most quickly resolve the crisis.
- *Quarantine/Infectious Disease Outbreak, e.g. Velonaceps Calyx*
- · Alarm will be raised.
- · Captain will announce lockdown of the ship.
- · Sensitive areas, e.g. command, will be protected by armed security personnel.
- · All crew should avoid main corridors, and hide in the nearest safe, preferably locked location.
- · Avoid contact with threat.
- · Security will summon medical staff when needed.
- · The respawn shuttle may NOT be dispatched in any circumstances when there is a lockdown.
- · Attempts to escape or enter the ship during a lockdown is to be met with up to and including lethal force.
- *Ship-Wide Power Failure*
- · Have a diving mask and oxygen ready at all times, in case of uncontrolled flooding.
- · Security must lock down sensitive areas by use of armed guards.
- · Engineering must work on restoring power as soon as possible.
- · Medical must relocate any injured crew away from possible threats.
- · Activate any auxiliary power systems if available, such as battery banks or backup power generators.
- · Identify the cause of the power failure.
- · Resolve the cause of the power failure.
- · Make necessary repairs.
- · If power cannot be restored, it is up to the discretion of the chief engineer and captain to proceed.
- *Evacuation*
- · Only command staff may give the order to abandon ship.
- · This would be the chief engineer, chief medical officer, first officer, and captain.
- · An order to abandon ship may be vetoed by the first officer or captain if deemed necessary.
- · The order to abandon ship is only given when there is clear threat to the life of the crew, and or the ship has sustained, or it is beyond a reasonable doubt that the ship is likely to sustain irreversible damage.
- · All crew are required to assist with evacuation. All crew must be evacuated, regardless of conscious state.
- · All prisoners are to be brought to the escape shuttle, unless this poses a clear threat to the crew.
- · Bodies are to be brought back for processing if possible.
- · Premature launch of the shuttle may be authorized if clear threat to life, limb, or shuttle integrity is present.
- -- Engineering --
- *Fire or Environmental Hazards*
- Immediate evacuation from the affected area of all untrained personnel.
- Alarm is sounded.
- Extinguish fire.
- *Nuclear Meltdown Imminent*
- Inform the captain.
- Captain will immediately hit the emergency reactor shutdown button.
- If that is unavailable, an engineer must manually shut down the reactor by lowering the shutdown temperature to zero.
- If that is impossible, the order to abandon ship will be given.
- If that is impossible, prepare for the worst.
- *Nuclear Meltdown*
- In the event of a nuclear meltdown, the ship will most likely be destroyed.
- -- Security --
- *Relevant Terminology*
- The Brig: The part of the ship used to detain those who violate military law and the SOP.
- Robust: As an adjective; able to withstand or overcome adverse conditions. As a verb; slang for viciously assaulting someone. Often used as a compliment in both cases.
- Shitcurity: Slang for describing a security officer who unnecessarily or illegally exercises their authority in order to inflate their ego, or a security officer who simply doesn't follow standard operating procedure.
- Use of Force: Either lethal or non-lethal, this is the use of weapons to incapacitate a suspect. You may be told at times to use lethal force, or non-lethal force, depending on circumstance. By default, non-lethal force is preferred.
- Armed: Possessing weapons or anything being used as a weapon even if that is not its intended purpose (such as a crowbar). This includes non-lethals, and even basic tools if being used to assault someone.
- Contraband: Anything that is stolen or illegal to possess by anyone aboard the crew.
- *Rules of Engagement*
- Refusal of handcuffs does not constitute resisting arrest. If a suspect refuses handcuffs and is being arrested, but is cooperative, they are to be escorted by no less than two armed security personnel to the brig. If this is not possible, inform the suspect, and handcuff them regardless of their cooperation.
- A suspect attempting to flee, or assault another crew member, is authorized shoot-to-disable, or stun.
- When confronting an armed suspect, always call for backup, preferably prior to the engagement. If the suspect draws a weapon, already has a weapon in their hands and is aiming, or has used a weapon already, use of force is immediately authorized and you are not required to announce intentions to arrest until after they are subdued.
- *Secure areas*
- During all operations, the command center, captain's office, secure storages, armory, and brig are all secure areas.
- The armory is restricted to security and the Captain only. Non-security staff are not authorized without permission from the First Officer or Captain. Unauthorized personnel in this area are shoot to kill, excluding the Chief Engineer, and Chief Medical Officer who should just be ordered to leave immediately. The Chief Engineer, and Chief Medical Officer may have an urgent reason for wanting to break protocol. If they do not, proceed with an arrest.
- The Brig is considered a high security area. Unauthorized personnel attempting to break in, or any inmates attempting to break out, are both shoot to kill.
- *Executions*
- Prisoner is informed of their punishment, and allowed to decide how they die (within reason). Suggested options include lethal injection, gassing, or firing squad.
- Prisoner is to be granted a final request (within reason, because obviously "let me go" or "kill this dude for me" isn't reasonable).
- Prisoner is escorted to the execution location under heavily armed guards, bound with handcuffs. Escorting officers are armed to kill. Lethal injections are done in medbay under supervision of doctor, firing squad is done in the airlock, gassing is done in containment areas, or if unavailable the brig.
- It is required for the Captain to be present (not an acting Captain), or an execution may not proceed.
