  1. “Is it dead? Like, dead dead?” Lilly hesitated to make another move. Sprawled on the ground before her was a massive corpse of what appeared to be a Praying Mantis. One of its front legs was completely missing, with the only evidence being a lowly stump of where it used to be. Its head was still on its bed but something appeared to have bite off a massive chunk of the head. Lilly wasn’t afraid of insects but with how the world worked now, they could be as big as her and beyond. And the mantis was about the size of a truck.
  2. It was a cloudy afternoon in the forests near Arbor Town. Wendy, Lilly and Alice were up and about doing their usual ventures to fight off the boredom that would always come by. Wendy however took off too fast into the depths of the woods that Alice and Lilly couldn’t keep up.
  3. “Someone ought to put a damn leash on her I swear!” Lilly coughed, trying to regain air in hoarse breaths.
  4. “Why, do you want to be the one to take out for walks?” Alice joked, gently sitting down to regain her stamina.
  5. Wendy was renowned for her unnaturally fast speed. Despite her small height, one would think she could even rival a cheetah with such speed. Her stamina also seemed nearly bottomless, never once stopping in her constant sprints. Yet it was always that happy go lucky outlook of hers that even put a smile on Alice, known for always having a frown. Now the duo was left alone, having to follow a trail of footprints left over on the ground that seemed to stretch on for miles.
  6. “Honestly, what do you see in her Frenchie,” said Lilly, wits all gathered, “I would have thought someone like you would stick your face into those books of yours than hang out with the local road runner!”
  7. Alice got up and began to follow the trail. At first she wasn’t in the mood to have any arguments with Lilly. The two have been at it since they first met. Lilly was always the show off, always demanding to be the center of attention. She ought to have been another dim witted child like the rest of them. Yet Lilly always seemed so transfixed on challenging her all the time. Either from a duel of words that hailed from insults like “frenchie”, “pale face”, “zombie” or the rather strange one “moth”. But it always came down to the games they had. There were no video games, not anymore unfortunately, but games like hide and go seek and even Jacks became intense duels. Yes that’s what always lead her back to Lilly: the delicious competition and the reward to wiping that smug, pompous grin off her face and she wear it on her own. Yet the question of Wendy now came to mind.
  8. “Because…she’s different,” Alice would at last say, “well different in a good way. Not like you.” She bore a smirk on her face.
  9. Lilly fumed for a second knowing that she couldn’t loser her composure at such a small counterattack. “Oooh I get it. Different because unlike the other kids, she talked to you!”
  10. “As if I had a choice…do you know how many times she would ask me questions on what I was doing? I figured she was trying to bully me but just looking at her I knew she wasn’t being mean.”
