the pidge datapath chronicles

here is a story about what happens when you try to install a vision datapath e1s on an amd win 7 PC from 2010

-mishrak told me he was sending me a datapath for christmas
-fuck yeah new cap card! i proceeded to sell all my existing ones
-i got it a week early so we started working on setup
-software showed a whitescreen so it def didnt install properly
-tried to uninstall and my PC crashes during uninstall
-tried to install again and we get grey box on the installer
-needed to system restore
-uninstalled drivers from device manager and reinstalled over and over
-tried old drivers
-attempted to test in amarec, which crashed, bc the native software also crashes
-tested from usb ubuntu, which wouldn’t load and started hanging when i tried to manually run casper
-tested from usb linux mint which worked, but i didn’t wanna change OSes
-forcefully installed an obsolete windows 7 update via dism to bypass a sha256 error
-bricked my OS with the above step, unable to boot to command line or use system restore from repair disc
-took the drive out of my laptop and used an old win7 install on a 3rd hard drive to copy my files on the dead drive to an empty partition on the laptop drive
-the copy operation froze up so i made a backup instead
-was able to unbrick my OS after all and deleted the backup
-deleted the empty partition and attempted to fresh install windows 7 on it
-turned out my optical drive wasnt reading discs at all which explains why i couldnt run startup repair
-made a boot usb of windows 7
-saved an image of my OS to the empty partition
-reinstalled windows 7 on my drive
-swapped the pcie slots of my cap card and usb card
-tried very old drivers to flash the card which also hung when i let it run overnight
-card somehow flashed itself successfully after i uninstalled the drivers
-upgraded to windows 10 which i left running while i went to work
-sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldnt, but PC would crash on shutdown
-usb ports on mobo were broken
-said fuck it and got a new pc
-some parts were same price on amazon so i got the case and gpu there for cheaper shipping and the rest from newegg
-newegg courier tries to deliver while im at work so they tell me to pick up my package at their office 8 miles away
-i dont drive and have weakling babby arms so what the fuck i cant carry 14 lbs that far
-they arrange to take it to a shipping partner closer to me, say itll be available in a week
-a day before the date i was told i check tracking and it says some guy named Jerry accepted my package like 5 days earlier
-what the fuck
-courier told me they delivered it to a toys r us on ellsworth ave
-there is no toys r us on ellsworth ave
-double what the fuck
-i freaked out and opened claims with courier and seller
-newegg gave me a gift card and told me theyll investigate
-i was mad but i called the shipping partner anyway
-they told me "received by jerry" means they had the package all along
-i got the package from them and took it home to build my pc
-GPU was late arriving from amazon anyway
