BACKGROUND : seoul, korea was the city that nakamoto miyu was born in, and ended up being the backdrop for the first half of her life. as the daughter of a criminal justice lawyer and a wealthy (and ironically busy) businessman, both of who were made of old money, it wasn't too much of a struggle to see how lonely she must have been. as a child, her parents were often too busy with the newest case of a man who was framed for murder, or the most reason deal between two rival conglomerates, to actually care for her like they should have. miyu saw more of the pitying nanny in her first three years than both of her parents combined, and slowly developed into a soft spoken and quiet child. on the rare occasion that her parents actually decided to come home to their daughter, they weren't very... parentish. they didn't know how to act because of how often they had been gone, and eventually ended up treating her like some sort of group project that they wanted to skimp out on. when she turned three years old, the news of another child came along -- this time, a little boy who was all things bright. seeming to have learned from miyu, her parents treated her little brother, naoki, with everything that miyu never received. he was loved and cared for, and not even for a day had a nanny to take care of him like she did. but she was able to look past it, simply because she loved him so much. if she was anyone else, she would have went insane with jealousy, and probably ended up hating him with a passion. but to miyu, he was so precious that there was nothing that could make her think of him as anything less. as they matured, the siblings grew closer even despite the age gap, and miyu always knew in the back of her mind that she would never even be close to comparing to him in the eyes of her parents. of course, it became all the more apparent when she turned thirteen, right before high school, when they decided she should be "immersed in her cultural heritage" to become knowledgeable (as if she wasn't already!) miyu wasn't an idiot, and it was crystal clear to her that her parents just were using this a ploy to get rid of her. but because she hated even the idea of confrontation, she accepted it and tearfully decided to leave her brother to go back to her homeland, japan, with her aunt and cousin. to say that her first few weeks there were awkward would definitely be an understatement; she was in a different country, stuck with an extended family her parents hadn't ever mentioned, and she was speaking a foreign language she hadn't done much with other than studying it. not to mention the fact that they were all so happy, and lively... and completely different than what she was used to. in that first day of arriving, she was sure she received more affection from them than she did from her family in her whole entire life. it was no secret to her aunt that her parents neglected her, and upon her arrival, the family took it upon themselves to make sure she would no longer feel unloved -- as a result, they became very protective over her. her cousin, nakamoto yuta, became her best friend throughout high school, and they did everything together with a few other friends, and she honestly loved him more than anything. but after three years, when she finally finished high school, she grudgingly decided that it was finally time for her to return to korea for university. a sad goodbye ended as she returned to seoul to study what her heart desired most: astrophysics. she came back to her parents as hostile as ever, and her brother as adorable as ever, and her life as bland as ever, and decided that she didn't want to be reliant on her "parents" -- although, can anyone really be called that when they did little more than give birth to you? so along the way, miyu picked up the job at the hotel to help pay for her college. her parents enjoyed telling others that it was their idea, to prove to their friends that their daughter was willing and compliant and also hardworking, and just to make her seem better to them,,, but really, she couldn't care less about that as long as she ends up far away from them.

PERSONALITY : if you were to walk into a crowded room, and profile everyone crammed in just by the way they were standing, nakamoto miyu would probably be the last person you notice. anyone would describe her as normal, plain, with a face that is forgetful, and -- dare i say it -- borderline boring. of course, only those who don't know her well would even think about saying something so mundane about someone so exhilarating. yeah, miyu isn't exactly the type to live on the wild side and do whatever comes to mind just because she feels like... but since when does that make you a lesser person? she might not take unnecessary risks, and instead choose to play it safe, but it's all part of her charm. as someone who doesn't enjoy arguing, and often can be found mediating those around her and preventing natural (social) disasters with a certain ease, her rational sides is one of her many strong points. her ability to skillfully maneuver around futile confrontation and conflict makes her the pillar, support system, the voice of reason, etc, within her group of friends. its painfully undeniable that miyu is the mom friend, and literally everyone knows it. hell, even her zodiac is the mother hen! (cancers, represent.) she's not the most unique in terms of how she acts and what she says, but she is definitely the most comforting. if you were to name the actual personification of a warm fire at home, miyu would be it. she can always be found with her signature soft smile®, and there's something about it that makes you feel like a cozy blanket has been draped over you while you fall asleep. even if miyu doesn't always feel like it, she aims to be extremely positive and optimistic for her friends, and can be depicted as encouragement in its purest form. in addition to that, she's vvv intelligent -- and not only in terms of academics. as the certified mom friend™ it's practically in the job description that she has to be perceptive enough to notice things... and boy, is she perceptive. anyone she knows, even in the slightest, she can read like an open book, and she has the ability to tell instantly when something is up with someone. its like she has a sixth (seventh) sense for that sort of thing -- that, or she has a tendency to read people who wear their heart proudly on their sleeve. (honestly, the former is more probable anyways.) everyone who knows her can agree that because she's the mom friend, miyu gives SUPERB advice. thought you needed a life counselor? just make sure you're friends with miyu, and you're all set. (like really, can she make all my life decisions?) she's definitely godlike when it comes to counselling others with their lives and emotions and problems and whatnot, but when it comes to herself... well, lets just say she's not the best. because of the lonely and unintentionally hostile environment she grew up in, miyu seems to have gotten it in her head that whatever she feels isn't important enough to express openly. her parents blatant ignorance and favoring of naoki over her only magnifies her fears, which obviously aren't true. she has a horrible tendency to suffocate anything scary that she feels until it is easy to look over for the time being -- which is actually quite unhealthy, and never fails to make her worried friends extremely anxious. all they want for miyu is for her to be a bit more open, because they love her so much and just want to care for her like she does with them. and since she began to notice how she acts, miyu has been working on getting over it. honestly! but for some reason, it's just... so hard. she likes to think that for someone like her, though, she's made quite a bit of progress. as a person who always comes off as composed and put together, it's a bit hard for people to see her as anything else. however, just like everybody else, she DEFINITELY has her moments... after all, being a mom isn't her full time job. one of the things she takes greatest pride in is her streak of mischief. it's one of her better guarded secrets, but miyu actually takes secret pleasure in messing with her friends and pulling pranks on them. (her job as bartender only seems fitting in this sense, considering she gets to hear embarrassing stories from tipsy customers and choose whether or not to use it as blackmail.) and of course, just like anyone else, whenever miyu gets angered or annoyed or basically feels anything that makes her lose her composture... she has a kind of penchant for screeching like a little child. luckily, it is only for a few seconds, and she gets over it quickly. in conclusion, nakamoto miyu is a pure soul of a mother hen who is learning how to understand her feelings and must be protected (often by yuta) at all costs.

OPINION ON JOB : when she first started the job, miyu's mindset was that she was only there to make money and get it over with. she didn't exactly hate it, but that didn't mean she liked it either. to her, it was a necessary evil and she agreed that she would go along with it as long as she got paid. eventually, though, she began to grow closer to the other girls, and realized that applying at the kang towers was probably the best decision of her life. she has nothing against the workplace, but if she's being honest, only the people working with her make it bearable... not that she makes it obvious, of course. out of all the girls, miyu is probably the best at faking it until you make it, and any customer that deals with her will walk away with a smile on their facing, not knowing that the probability that she was cursing them out in her mind while talking to them is actually quite high.

HIS PERSONALITY : at first glance, it isn't uncommon for most people to mistake kim doyoung as a calm and collected person. he certainly looks approachable and like he wouldn't be /too/ wild... but that's basically the biggest misconception ever, and being in his presence for longer than five minutes makes that fact painfully obvious. he's the kind of 'in your face' person, and it's actually quite endearing to some people -- just in general, doyoung is the kind of person who can be charming without trying to hard. his sense of humor is amazing, and he can often be found cracking jokes and poking fun at his friends; it's not an over exaggeration to say that he might actually be one of the funniest people you'll ever meet. he loves messing with people, and is actually prone to pulling pranks on close friends when he gets very bored. despite him being a funny person overall, though, doyoung can be extremely caring when he tries. sure, he loves teasing his friends, and he definitely has the ability to make ANY situation funny, but he does know when things should be serious and when he should tone it down. if the situation really calls for it, he can be quite mature -- even more than most people could be able to imagine after knowing him. doyoung is an avid meme hoarder, and loves keeping up with whatever people think is funny. overall, he's a very laid back, humorous person who you can be comfortable being yourself around.

HOW YOU ACT AROUND HIM :
   ↝ when miyu first met doyoung, she wasn't sure what to expect. the managers had told her that they would all have to train a boy each, and she honestly didn't want to do that. boys have a tendency to be immature and just too much for her to handle, especially when around alcohol. she was (sort of) pleasantly surprised when she ended up with someone who was funny and didn't make jokes about alcohol while simultaneously trying to hit on her. (it happened once before, when the kang towers hired someone clearly unexperienced. luckily, he was fired after a week... but it was the worst week of her life.) there's something about doyoung that makes her feel more free, and brings out her usually suppressed mischievous streak. he makes her feel at ease, a change in dynamic from her usual stress about college and her friends and just life in general. as the days pass, she begins to realize that although she had been dreading taking on someone, she actually really likes spending time with him and he makes the job all the more enjoyable.
   ↝ after a while and some prompting from one of her friends, she begins to ponder how she actually feels about him. she hadn't thought of doyoung in a way other than brotherly -- like she did with yuta -- but after the simple question "do you like him?" from someone, she can't stop thinking about it. she hates being confused and hates the idea of trying to figure out what she's feeling, so instead of facing them, she does something so completely miyu: she ignores it, suffocating it in the back of her mind as she tries to continue on with life how she did before. she throws herself into school and work and helping solve her friends problems, while in a completely unhealthy fashion, ignores how much she really likes doyoung. one day, she just gets so tired of it -- because everything is just so tiring -- and gets really drunk, to the point where she accidentally confesses her feelings to him... oops?

HOW HE ACTS AROUND YOU :
   ↝ when he first applied for the job, doyoung was honestly so excited to work there because he'd heard from yuta how wonderful his cousin was and he was like "new people!! new jokes!! oh the possibilities!!!!" and just his luck, he actually got paired with the miyu he'd heard so much about. upon first meeting her, all he could think was how adorable she was. it was obvious to him instantly that despite her mother-like tendencies, she was actually quite playful. working with her behind the bar made him really happy, and he loves testing his jokes and punch lines on her, because she never fails to laugh at them. he wasn't expecting it from her, but eventually he learns of her hidden love for pranks, and all he can think is "does she get any more perfect?" when he applied for the job, he never even dreamed that he would be spending time with the most wonderful people -- and getting payed for it! as the days blend into weeks, it becomes even more obvious to himself that he really actually likes miyu, and loves spending time with her.
   ↝ in contrast to her, doyoung is actually quite confident and secure in what he feels, so when he realizes how he feels about miyu, he isn't really scared of it in the way that she is. of course, he realizes that she isn't the type to jump headfirst into a relationship, and honestly he isn't even sure if she likes him back in that way. so he's patient and bides him time, just going along with things the way he normally would. he begins to notice that miyu is getting more and more stressed though, and he (inconspicuously, of course) does whatever he can to lighten her load -- whether it be taking the brunt of work during their shift, or even cracking a joke so she can smile. one day, when he's late to work for some reason or another, he arrives to find the bar empty and miyu completely and totally drunk off her ass. when he woke up that day, he didn't expect to be faced with such a situation, and is even more shocked when she... confesses her feelings? he's shell shocked, and instead of responding takes her home. the next day, she refuses to show her face, and hides in typical not-mom fashion, and long story short, he visits her house and confesses back -- and it would have been the perfect moment, if yuta hadn't been in the other room and heard everything he said. is now an appropriate time to run?
