  1. <Vigilant_GM> IT IS THE 41ST MILLENNIUM...
  2. <Vigilant_GM> Amidships on the Divine Intercession is a labyrinthine series of wards, shielded by null and stasis fields at various holding cells. As with the rest of the vessel, the lighting is spared, enhancing the prison-like atmosphere. Interrogator Baird finds himself walking along these corridors, following the echoing screeches of a psyker's mind being burnt out. Intermittenlty, Inquisitor
  3. <Vigilant_GM> Mortem's voice can be heard, too.
  4. <Vigilant_GM> A pair of warriors-penitent stand guard in front of a heavy metal door, their hoods low to cover their out-gouged eyes, skin branded by hot-iron with litanies of penitence and redemption, where their robes do not cover.
  5. * Baird takes a deep calming breath and steels his mind against the screams.
  6. <Vigilant_GM> As the interrogator closes, the pair reach down to their scabbards, gripping their curve-bladed weapons.
  7. <Baird> "I am Interrogator Baird. One of you let our master know that I require an audience when he has time."
  8. <Vigilant_GM> One gives a quick bow before opening the door. As he does so, the screams are augmented, piercing your senses, and beyond.
  9. <Vigilant_GM> A short moment later, the inquisitor's penitent re-emerges, holding the door open for Baird.
  10. * Baird strides through the open door, providing a nod for the penitent in thanks.
  11. <Vigilant_GM> Within, Inquisitor Mortem holds his cybernetic arm out, holding the screetching wretch's face to a fire.
  12. <Baird> Interrogator Baird steps in taking in the scene. Seeing Mortem is in the middle of something he stands to the side and waits, taking the time to study his mentor's techniques.
  13. <Vigilant_GM> "The warding controls stand by you, Thomas. Open the cell," he says with characteristic clarity despite the cacophany created by the witch.
  14. * Baird nods turning towards the console. After a quick glance over the controls Baird keys open the cell as instructed.
  15. <Vigilant_GM> The psyker is lifted by the neck and dragged across the room where the Inquisitor throws him into the warded cell.
  16. <Baird> Seeing the psyker is in his cell Baird uses the controls to reseal the cell.
  17. <Vigilant_GM> Once sealed, a green rune glows on the console.
  18. <Vigilant_GM> "Put it to sleep," Mortem commands, reaching for his glove.
  19. * Baird nods and presses the correct rune.
  20. <Vigilant_GM> The nerve-agent releases in the cell, the prisoner falling unconscious seconds later.
  21. <Vigilant_GM> "You need only speak to the Divine Intercession's Master at Arms to have purge teams prepared, Thomas."
  22. <Baird> "This is in regards to another matter, no need for the teams just yet."
  23. <Vigilant_GM> "Something you have uncovered, then?"
  24. <Baird> "Once reforms of the Eulogus Askelline and a contact network is established I intend on moving the Cell off-world. Specifically the sector capital. Juno"
  25. <Baird> "I am here to discuss this route with you. Specifically making sure I won't interrupt anything ongoing you have in the area as well as any acolyte cells or information networks I can utilize."
  26. <Baird> "I intend on establishing the base of the cell there."
  27. <Vigilant_GM> "Irredeemable pit of inequity. Countless conspiracies arise from that cesspit alone," the Inquisitor pauses for a moment. "Walk with me."
  28. <Vigilant_GM> Mortem makes for the ward's exit.
  29. * Baird nods and falls in step with Mortem.
  30. <Vigilant_GM> "There is a reality to which you must now become aware," he says ascending a set of steps towards a vast viewport overlooking Thaur.
  31. <Vigilant_GM> "Even the Emperor's eyes have blindspots, Thomas. Askellon is largely one such shrouded place."
  32. <Vigilant_GM> "The Ordos have enjoined the bulk of the Adeptus Terra in writing off the Sector as doomed. A lost cause."
  33. <Baird> Baird's eyebrows raise at such an admission. "Surely that is why our work is so important then."
  34. <Vigilant_GM> The inquisitor nods.
  35. <Vigilant_GM> "And the reason why we must pick our battles."
  36. <Vigilant-GM> "Warp rifts linked to increased activity in the Sector's grander warp storms, and daemonic summonings remain a priority. Yet heresies of many varieties abound. Rot from within, and Juno is more than the political capital of the Sector."
  37. <Baird> "I have the same thought. It is why I set my sight on the sector capital. If we work to bring this sector back to the Emperor's light that seems an important planet in this plan. Unless you have another that you feel is more important to the current situation?"
  38. <Baird> "It serves another purpose?"
  39. <Baird> "I have the same thought. It is why I set my sight on the sector capital. If we work to bring this sector back to the Emperor's light that seems an important planet in this plan. Unless you have another that you feel is more important to the current situation?"
  40. <Baird> "It serves another purpose?"
  41. <Vigilant_GM> "Power corrupts, Thomas. Juno happily exerts its influence across the Sector in this regard, too. From the Praefectrix and her proxy council, to the enforcers and even members of the Ecclesiarchy. All are tainted. All must remain in the Inquisition's gaze. Numerous operatives and cells have been formed, and lost, in the Sector capital."
  42. <Vigilant_GM> Mortem turns to face Baird.
  43. <Vigilant_GM> "Don't get lost in that cesspit. Yours is a promising, yet untested cell."
  44. <Baird> "So it will certainly be challenging in that regard. No safety net. No fellow cells."
  45. <Vigilant_GM> "Should the Emperor's calling take you there despite my warnings, however, I will make available to you my estate, and my independent operatives - whomever remains."
  46. <Baird> "Despite your warnings I feel that is where we can be of most use. Kurst has Desoleum well in hand from what I saw and Thaur is on it's way back to the Emperor's Light. Thus far we've been chasing and playing catch up. I feel the need to bring the fight to the corruption polluting this sector. Bringing the capital into the light and establishing our base there will afford an influx of information and manpower invaluable to our mission here."
  47. <Vigilant_GM> "Then follow His calling, Thomas, and never lose focus of the enemy within."
  48. <Baird> "I will strive to live up to the expectations laid upon me Inquisitor."
  49. <Vigilant_GM> "Shipping from Thaur is limited. How will you find your way to Juno?"
  50. <Baird> "Well if we leave with Anzaforr he'll be heading to Desoleum and then on to Cetrix Magnus. Going that route we would part from Anzaforr at Desoleum and find passage. The other alternative I see is to temporarily interrupt your plans and have you transport us."
  51. <Vigilant_GM> "Impossible. But my studies of the rift will require me to travel across the sector, through the worlds of the Processional. The time of my depature is uncertain, however. Certainly much later than Anzaffor's much-needed voidport run."
  52. <Baird> "Understood. Then it seems with Anzafaorr to Desoleum and from there further transportation. Any suggestions for a cover that would provide us with needed clout to operate amongst the capital but won't draw attention to our actual roles? I suppose we could take a longer journey and stay with Anzaforr and then operate under his banner, though I would prefer to avoid that."
  53. <Vigilant_GM> "Your arrival won't be noticed. The traffic running through Juno is impossible for even the Administratum to keep track of. Something easily and regularly exploited by Juno's varying interests. As a Sector capital, the Inquisition's presence is not unknown or unexpected, though you are right to think such methods would end in disaster. Inquisitorial assets are not beyond assassination
  54. <Vigilant_GM> attempts on Juno. There is as much hatred and distrust of the Ordos as there is fear."
  55. <Baird> "My concerns exactly. I just wanted an identity that would justify reputation and clout that would be feasible to establish before our arrival at Juno."
  56. <Baird> "Perhaps if there is a Rogue Trader house of the sector that has disappeared or that not much is known of them. That would allow us quite a bit of latitude providing we can fabricate the necessary writs and identities."
  57. <Vigilant_GM> "I give you leave to discreetly remove and replace the Guljian dynasty of Desoleum. Coordinate the necessary arrangements with Kurst. They have ambitions to take over trade to Juno, and beyond."
  58. <Vigilant_GM> "I will arrange my Juno Estate to be 'sold' to the Guljians ahead of your arrival."
  59. <Baird> Baird's eyebrows raise at the mention of House Guljian. "A very fitting cover. It will be done Inquisitor."

  62. <Reclaimator_Almarax> Meanwhile the parties investigating planetside turned up a strange artifact and the possible location of more, however it didn't seem like it had been tampered with and leaving in place in the eldar no go zone seemed the wisest choice, with the logic that the eldar would keep them secure. The reformation of the government seemed to go well and so the cell decided to move on.
  63. <Reclaimator_Almarax> There was some whispering of an eldars name in an alley but nothing happend afterwards.
