  1. The morning comes after the battle with Athel, and Engir awakens from his exhaustion, after having carried an unconscious, battered Arastalia back home.
  2.
  3. Engir rubs his forehead, pained as he tries to remember the events of the past night.
  4. Astrid lays on the side of her bed for a while, her eyes half open.
  5. Engir: "(Still asleep. I should make some tea or something.)"
  6. Engir rises from his bed, and feels his way to the door to open it.
  7. Pitch groggily awakes, leaving his sister to rest, and to attempt a breakfast for her
  8. Pitch: "(Urrgh... long night, long day, we need a break from this stuff...)"
  9. As Engir exits the room, a wave of cleanliness washes over him, with the halls and walls of the guild having apparently been cleaned extremely thoroughly.
  10. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Big brother... don't go..."
  11. Pitch: "(Melodi, you're awake..?)"
  12. Astrid sits up on the edge of the bed, entering the hall after getting dressed.
  13. Engir: "Mmm, now that's more like it. I should wash, myself."
  14. Catkin Maid catches sight of Engir, and bows to him.
  15. Catkin Maid: "Good morning, meowster."
  16. Engir: "Oh, it's you! Your handiwork, I presume?"
  17. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "I'm up, I just..."
  18. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "...I had wished it was a nightmare..."
  19. Pitch: "...mm...today I'm going to try and find that cleric for some healing magic..."
  20. Engir: "Meowster... that's quite the way to put it."
  21. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Terita said she felt like her eyes were feeling better, so I had hoped I might feel better too by the time I woke up..."
  22. Pitch: "And I can guess your condition right now..."
  23. Pitch places a hand on his sister's shoulder reassuringly.
  24. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "I'm sorry..."
  25. Catkin Maid turns, and bows to Astrid.
  26. Anarod: "Hng, wow it's stupid cold out t- oh dammit."
  27. Astrid stares down at the floor, unaware of the catkin.
  28. Engir: "Had an ice sleep, brother?"
  29. Catkin Maid: "Good morning, meowstress."
  30. Pitch: "It's okay, Melodi, it's okay. We'll get you healed up and back to normal seeing again, promise."
  31. Anarod lifts his head towards his brother.
  32. Anarod: "Watch this."
  33. Engir tilts his head, generally curious.
  34. Astrid: "Gespent, who did th--"
  35. Astrid looks up at the catkin.
  36. Astrid: "Oh...you're not Gespenst."
  37. "Is this your work, miss?"
  38. Anarod makes a quick kicking motion, and the blanket, made solid by frost, entirely lifts up and falls to the side of the bed, its shape frozen hard."
  39. Melodi Ryuji Naabe attempts to get out of bed, struggling to get her clothes on over her nightclothes.
  40. Engir: "Geez, those dreams are getting serious after the whole imp nightmare deal."
  41. Pitch: "Should I call, um...another girl to help you?"
  42. Anarod: "Gonna need to heat this thing back up."
  43. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "I'm a big girl, I can... um."
  44. "Can you help make sure this looks alright in the back, big brother?"
  45. Engir: "Oh, Dahlia should be here later! That should beat Antille's cooking."
  46. Anarod: "As long as she doesn't use infernal chicken eggs or something."
  47. Astrid smirks at Anarod.
  48. Engir: "Now I wonder if you can cook something summoned. I fear someone will have tried it."
  49. Anarod: "I'm sure you'll be able to ask around in Broken Top."
  50. Engir shakes his head.
  51. Engir: "Ugh, good point."
  52. Anarod: "I can't imagine there isn't someone over there who doesn't spice up his morning meal by summoning a devil bird to lay down a fiend egg for him."
  53. "Cooked on the raw flame of a fire elemental, because why not?"
  54. Engir: "Maybe you should ask them for a steam elemental hot water bottle to keep you warm at night."
  55. Anarod: "That's just asking to make some kind of mess."
  56. Engir: "The perfect broken-top invention, then."
  57. Anarod: "Good point."
  58. Catkin Maid: "Is the cleaning to meowster's satisfaction?"
  59. Engir: "It's been a long time since I've lived somewhere with maids. Even then..."
  60. "If it doesn't bring back too many bad memories, did Athel put you through a lot of training?"
  61. The catkin tilts her head.
  62. Catkin Maid: "Training, meow?"
  63. Engir: "You made this place spotless overnight."
  64. Catkin Maid: "I don't sleep, meow."
  65. "Lorelei helped too, meow."
  66. Astrid: "Don't sleep? Hmm."
  67. Engir: "Oh right, of course..."
  68. Catkin Maid: "Don't sleep, meow."
  69. Astrid stretches slowly.
  70. Engir: "Either way, it's nice to see this dingy place looking so orderly."
  71. Astrid: "Mm......Engir, should we start gathering provisions?"
  72. Catkin Maid: "I'll do my best, meow."
  73. Engir: "Hmm, Astrid. I should take inventory of what we seized, first."
  74. Astrid: "Ah, of course."
  75. Catkin Maid: "I didn't clean the bedrooms, meow. I didn't want to intrude while you slept, meow..."
  76. Engir: "That's good manners of you, girl."
  77. Astrid: "Now would be a good time, miss."
  78. Catkin Maid: "(Mistress Nalzij would kill me if she heard I went into someone's room, meow...)"
  79. "Lorelei put the stuff she carried back into a room opposite the kitchen, meow."
  80. Catkin Maid bows, then heads to clean Astrid's room.
  81. Engir: "Hmm, that reminds me, I have all of Hilra's ingredients, now."
  82. "You know, I can't help but look at the composition of our team and wonder how happy the heavens are with me."
  83. Anarod: "Well the saps out there are all about forgiveness and whatnot, no? Our team's sure been exceedingly strong on that front, for better or worse."
  84. Engir: "For better or worse, indeed."
  85. "Right, let's discuss things at the table."
  86. "I could use some tea, and it'd do good for Ara to have something like that to wake up to."
  87. Pitch: "You look pretty fine, sis, seems"
  88. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Alright."
  89. Melodi Ryuji Naabe hops out of bed, carefully holding onto Pitch for guidance.
  90. Pitch guides Melodi out of the room.
  91. Pitch: "Good morning, everyone..."
  92. Engir: "Good morning. Just about to grab some breakfat."
  93. Pitch: "Ah, right, breakfast. I'll guide Melodi there...her eyes aren't getting better, so I'll need to search for that cleric, see if she can help..."
  94. Anarod: "Might take another day if she needs to secure the right spell, but I'd be surprised if she couldn't."
  95. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "I'm sorry..."
  96. Pitch guides Melodi to the table and helps her sit down.
  97. Engir: "There's plenty of blame that could be shunted to me or Laria too, Melodi. I'd just focus on coping until your eyes heal."
  98. Dahlia opens her door, yawning a bit as the party starts to wake.
  99. Dahlia wanders into the room, a bit drowsy.
  100. Dahlia: "Ah, everyone's up already..."
  101. "Sorry about the lack of breakfast."
  102. Pitch: "(Melodi, after Breakfast, we'll look for that cleric lady to help, okay?)"
  103. Dahlia stretches.
  104. Engir: "Well, not quite everyone. But yes, I should ready up some tea."
  105. Pitch raises his hand tiredly.
  106. Pitch: "Yeah, tea's a lifesaver over here."
  107. Dahlia: "I can help you with that" she responds to Engir.
  108. Engir: "Itinerary for today..."
  109. "Check on the maids, maybe have the consecration lowered, I need to get these ingredients to Hilra, take inventory on the mansion..."
  110. Dahlia: "With Selani... 'gone'..."
  111. "Less protection is probably alright."
  112. Anarod: "Gone?"
  113. Dahlia: "Ah..."
  114. "There were some issues last night."
  115. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Did she walk out?"
  116. Engir: "Uh oh."
  117. Dahlia: "Nalzij... 'Dealt' With them."
  118. Anarod: "Define 'gone.'"
  119. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "...Oh."
  120. Dahlia: "Dust."
  121. "Well."
  122. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: " 'Poof', huh..."
  123. Anarod: "Ok, that's the correct kind of gone."
  124. Engir: "Oh, fair enough."
  125. Dahlia: "Not physical dust."
  126. "Lorelei, the quiet one, and the catkin seem better adjusted to things though."
  127. Pitch: "I see..."
  128. Anarod: "Relatively speaking."
  129. Engir: "Well, one less pair of fangs is a lot less of a drain on our resources."
  130. Pitch: "(And less of a drain on me...)"
  131. Anarod: "Reminder that we're leaving for Broken Top soon."
  132. Dahlia: "True..."
  133. Anarod: "How's that even gonna work?"
  134. Dahlia: "I'm not sure."
  135. Anarod: "I'm not taking vampires on a field trip to bozo town for sure."
  136. Engir: "Yeah, we definitely can't take them with us."
  137. "And I'm not comfortable with them using the refugees."
  138. Pitch: "We cannot, hm..."
  139. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "I'd help keep an eye on them, but..."
  140. "As is I can't keep an eye on much of anything."
  141. Anarod: "What we cannot is afford to have them around."
  142. Pitch: "...I suppose I can volunteer."
  143. Dahlia: "It shouldn't take too long to help you recover, Melodi... Hopefully, anyway"
  144. Pitch: "...if you guys are going to broken top, and Melodi's eyes haven't healed by the time you leave..."
  145. Engir: "Well I certainly don't want to depart today."
  146. Pitch: "...I could stay and keep things going here, and better me to take the hit of blood loss than anyone else."
  147. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "You said something about letting the catkin feed on you, big brother..."
  148. Anarod: "So that's it, Pitch?"
  149. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "It's kinda... scary-sounding..."
  150. Anarod: "That's how you break your retirement to us?"
  151. Pitch: "I'm not retiring, Anarod."
  152. Anarod: "Pitch the mercenary is quitting the fighting life because he's gotta babysit two bloodsucking horrors."
  153. Dahlia: "Could that Delora woman feed one of them?"
  154. Engir grins.
  155. Pitch: "...moreso staying with my sister until she's healed and we've found people who will volunteer to be blood banks."
  156. Anarod: "Gonna sit around instead waiting for them to not die of old age because they're IMMORTAL."
  157. Engir: "I'll be back in a moment."
  158. Anarod: "Do you seriously intend to find two clueless people willing to have the life sucked out of them out of their own charitable spirit?"
  159. Engir wanders down the corridor to Hilra's end of the halls, peering in to check on Ara and leave her a drink.
  160. Arastalia is still passed out, having made no evident signs of recovery.
  161. Pitch rubs his head.
  162. Pitch: "It's worth a try, and we only need one, I suppose, eventually. One of the beast-people can supply the quiet one, I suppose, but the cat lady won't take the blood of her "sisters""
  163. Anarod: "One of the beast people?!"
  164. Pitch: "(At least I'm trying to find a solution...)"
  165. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "...Should we talk to one or both of them a little more?"
  166. Engir: "(Gee, what are we to do about this?)"
  167. Anarod: "Are you mad? They can't talk, or ake care of themselves properly, and we're just gonna use that to our advantage to let a vampire feed on them?"
  168. "Do you realize what you're saying?"
  169. Pitch: "Dude, I'm just trying to think of solutions, I don't see you thinking up any ideas."
  170. Dahlia: "What about the one that can talk?:
  171. Engir lingers at the door, putting his hand in his pocket.
  172. Dahlia: "Her and that knight would be enough."
  173. Anarod: "I thought we were doing this for their sake, and now you wanna turn them into a freaking buffet?"
  174. "My idea involves a stake through their cold, dead heart!"
  175. Dahlia: "Are they truly that much worse than me to you?"
  176. Anarod: "I mean it's not like one of them already tried something and had to be dusted by Nalzij or anything!"
  177. Dahlia: "She was... Devious. And power hungry."
  178. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Pelani was... the one that spoke a lot, right?"
  179. "She gave kind of an impression like she LIKED being a vampire."
  180. Pitch continues to rub his face tiredly, arms on the table
  181. Pitch: "(I'm not cut out for this in the mornings....)"
  182. Anarod: "Yeah, you'd know devious and power hungry, huh?"
  183. Pitch: "(Where's our voice of reason when we need him?)"
  184. Dahlia bites her lip a little.
  185. Anarod: "Whatever, y'all try to think of your 'solutions' about this entire mess."
  186. Dahlia: "I... It's different... I learned what I did was wrong..."
  187. Engir bites his lip.
  188. Dahlia: "But the vampire Nalzij took care of wanted to remain one, and to corrupt and harm others."
  189. Anarod: "No use trying to reason."
  190. Engir: "How we are meant to sustain two vampires for the long haul is beyond me."
  191. Anarod: "Because we aren't."
  192. Engir: "If we had a way to revert them, then fine."
  193. Dahlia: "Is there some sort of magic that could do it?"
  194. "Or... What about transmuting animal blood?"
  195. Engir: "Also, Ara's still in as bad a state as she was before."
  196. Terita Estion: "...Ah, Engir."
  197. Pitch: "(That "star" thing might help revert or whatever, not sure why I'd suggest it though, who needs my solutions.)"
  198. Terita Estion wanders in sleepily.
  199. Engir: "I have that wand lying around, bu-...ah, Terita?"
  200. Terita Estion: "You look concerned? Is it Arastalia?"
  201. Dahlia: "Good morning."
  202. Pitch rests his head on the table, quietly grumbling to himself.
  203. Engir: "Yeah, she showed up in the mansion as a Siren, and lured the vampires away. We found her later badly hurt... she's not recovered since."
  204. Terita Estion: "I wasn't blind during the siren part, you know."
  205. Engir: "At a glance, I think it's just fatigue from her own actions, but..."
  206. "Of course, you were there."
  207. "That night is a haze for me right now."
  208. Terita Estion: "Fair. Right now I need food."
  209. Terita Estion heads towards the kitchen, seeing if any food is left.
  210. Engir: "Is Hilra up?"
  211. Terita Estion: "She's out at the moment. She headed out in the middle of the night for some ingredient gathering."
  212. Engir: "Dang, I see. Thanks for the heads up."
  213. Dahlia peeks around the corner, to see who's approaching.
  214. Terita Estion: "She usually does that so I don't see much reason in stopping her. She's comfortable at night and there are some plants that only bloom in darkness."
  215. Dahlia: "Ah! Hello!"
  216. Terita Estion: "Ah... Dahlia, was it?"
  217. Dahlia: "Aye."
  218. "Are you here for breakfast?"
  219. Pitch looks up briefly at Terita.
  220. Terita Estion: "If possible."
  221. "You won't need to worry about Hilra, at least; she packs her own when she goes out."
  222. Pitch: "(Suppose I may as well move out, find the cleric for Melodi...)"
  223. Engir draws out Kellan's wand, and tries using it to relieve some of Arastalia's damage.
  224. Dahlia: "Alright."
  225. Dahlia heads back to cooking for now.
  226. The wand glows softly, indicating its magic is being used, but Arastalia remains still.
  227. Pitch gets up, and heads over to Engir.
  228. Pitch: "Hey, I'm going to go talk to the Cleric, anything you need me to tell her, or would you like to come along?"
  229. Engir: "Hmph, was worth a shot."
  230. "I'm going to meditate with the quill for now, but I might join you later."
  231. "Mia's help is going to be very appreciated."
  232. Pitch: "Right, then, I'll be off."
  233. Engir draws out his quill, and finds space on the bed to sit with it.
  234. Pitch helps Melodi up.
  235. Pitch: "Sis, we may as well head over to the manor and talk to Mia, now."
  236. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Alright. I hope things go well."
  237. Melodi Ryuji Naabe manages to stand, keeping a hand on the table as she walks to make sure she gets to Pitch's side.
  238. Pitch: "Me too."
  239. Pitch guides Melodi out of the guild and over to the Antivus Manor, where he searches for Mia.
  240. Engir slumps, puzzled on how to resolve Ara's current state.
  241. Engir: "Right, time for a deeper consultation, I think..."
  242. Engir pulls out a table and sheet of paper, and enters a deep trance...
  243. Meanwhile, Pitch brings Melodi into the Estion Estate proper, seeking out the cleric.
  244. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "C-careful, brother, I don't think you realize how difficult stairs are when you can't see them."
  245. Pitch: "Sorry, sis, but we're here on unstaired floor. Now, just to find that cleric..."
  246. As Pitch enters the main hall of the estate, he finds the priestess and Antille talking to what looks like a small, fox-eared child.
  247. Pitch: "Hey, Antille, what's new?"
  248. Antille: "Oh. Pitch. This is the latest, and how I understand it, last refugee."
  249. Pitch: "Oh, what's her condition?"
  250. Priestess Mia: "She's been pretty sad... but I think there's some promise in her."
  251. Foxkin Child: "Sniff... sniff... mommy..."
  252. Antille: "Coward of a noble that was with her, too."
  253. "Panicked when the paladins came for his slaves. Took out the girl's mother. Nearly got her."
  254. "I'm to understand she's his daughter."
  255. "Are all humans like this?"
  256. Pitch: "Only the rich ones, it seems..."
  257. "...ah, Miss Mia...would it be too much to pull you away for a moment, please?"
  258. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Nobility... they're disgusting."
  259. Priestess Mia: "Ah, of course. Antille, if you would?"
  260. Antille: "What? You can't expect me to know how to deal with kids, let alone..."
  261. Priestess Mia: "She's a foxkin. You two have that in common, no? You'll think of something."
  262. Priestess Mia steps aside, and moves closer to Pitch.
  263. Pitch: "Now, Miss...we have quite a problem..."
  264. Priestess Mia: "You wouldn't believe how many people said something was 'quite a problem' without going into detail."
  265. "Usually it's just something minor and easily solved."
  266. Pitch: "While fighting off the vampire, well..."
  267. "My sister has been blinded by a light bomb."
  268. Priestess Mia: "...A... light bomb?"
  269. Pitch: "And our friend, Arastalia, is seriously injured and lies unconscious in our guild."
  270. Priestess Mia moves towards Melodi, trying to examine her eyes.
  271. Priestess Mia: "Well, usually exposure to bright lights doesn't cause blindness for longer than a couple hours."
  272. "So I'm sure this will be as simple as..."
  273. "..."
  274. "This is quite a problem."
  275. Pitch: "..it is?"
  276. Melodi Ryuji Naabe looks worried.
  277. Priestess Mia: "It seems whatever this 'light bomb' was, it was... extremely potent. She's had an incredibly direct exposure."
  278. "I cannot do anything today, but tomorrow, I should be able to beseech the Star for the power to help cure it."
  279. "If it's this bad... it might take a couple tries."
  280. Pitch: "...I see...so healing would take quite a while...but not impossible to recover, right?"
  281. Priestess Mia: "The eyes are there, just damaged. That's enough."
  282. "Unfortunately, miss Melodi, you may have to endure this blindness for a few more days."
  283. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "A few DAYS like this?"
  284. Pitch: "....if it's a few days, I'll do all I can to look after my sister."
  285. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "I'm sorry, big brother..."
  286. Pitch: "It's okay, sis. Whatever it takes to help you."
  287. "I'm your big brother, it's my duty to take care of you."
  288. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "But, please, miss Mia, if it's not too much of a trouble..."
  289. Priestess Mia: "It's okay. I will do my best to help. Until then, please try your best to keep strong."
  290. Pitch: "Thank you, very much, Miss Mia, we are in your debt."
  291. Priestess Mia: "It is all I can do to repay you. Being here, among such vibrant life as these refugees..."
  292. "It truly feels as if the Star meant for me to be here."
  293. Pitch: "No problem."
  294. "...now, sister, shall we head back to the guild?"
  295. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Alright. I never did get breakfast, after all..."
  296. "(Or if I did nobody told me...)"
  297. Pitch: "Ah, oops, you didn't..."
  298. "Then I'll be sure to make you an extra special Pitch Breakfast!"
  299. Returning to the guild, Pitch comes across Terita attempting to show the catkin vampire around the kitchen.
  300. On the opposite end, Lorelei seems to be working on supplies.
  301. Pitch: "Ah, greetings, Terita, we were about to get my sister some breakfast."
  302. Catkin Maid: "A perfect chance to let her taste my meowsterpiece! ...But I've never actually cooked before, Mistress Terita is showing me how, meow."
  303. Catkin Maid looks at the food supplies on the table.
  304. Catkin Maid: "...This stuff looks delicious but I don't get hungry from it, meow..."
  305. "I haven't eaten for so long though, meow..."
  306. Terita Estion: "Ah, right. You eat... um..."
  307. "Pitch. Didn't you volunteer?"
  308. Pitch: "...yeah, I did."
  309. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "...It's okay, big brother, if you're having second thoughts."
  310. Pitch: "No, no."
  311. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "I mean, I don't think I'm going to accomplish much today anyways so it's okay for me to give up a little..."
  312. Pitch: "It's better to be me than you, sis, you've had enough crap thrown your way."
  313. Catkin Maid: "If you're sure, meow..."
  314. "I've never fed... directly, before..."
  315. Pitch: "...I'm sure. Um...do you know how to do it, at least?"
  316. Catkin Maid: "...it's just like catching mice, right, meow? I think it comes instinctively, meow."
  317. Pitch: "Well....I guess do your thing."
  318. Catkin Maid looks down, embarrassed.
  319. Catkin Maid: "Um... sorry about this, meow..."
  320. Catkin Maid tries to carefully bite into Pitch's neck to draw blood, but it's pretty clear she doesn't precisely know what she's doing, and accidentally causes a bit more damage than necessary.
  321. Catkin Maid: "Ah! I'm sorry, meow! I'm sorry!"
  322. Pitch: "Gyah, it's okay, I've suffered worse wounds."
  323. Lorelei: "...?"
  324. Pitch: "Still...had enough for today, miss cat?"
  325. Lorelei seems to be drawn towards the commotion in the kitchen, forgetting momentarily about her work.
  326. Catkin Maid: "I... think so, meow. I'll let you know if I'm hungry again?"
  327. "It... seems to work pretty fast, I feel better already..."
  328. Pitch: "That'll work for now, miss cat."
  329. Catkin Maid: "I've been trying to avoid hurting anyone since you volunteered, you see, meow..."
  330. "So I was getting kind of weak, meow..."
  331. Terita Estion: "Well, with that newfound concentration, perhaps you would like to return to this?"
  332. Catkin Maid: "Ah! Yes, meowstress!"
  333. Lorelei: "...?"
  334. "...Blood...?"
  335. Pitch: "(She should probably be given a name..)"
  336. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "(Mmm... 'Christine' sounds cute.)"
  337. Pitch: "Yes, miss Maid? I was giving this cat-girl some blood."
  338. "('Christine' does have a nice ring to it, yeah...)"
  339. Lorelei: "...Blood...♪"
  340. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Oh, geez, I think she smelled your injury or something."
  341. Pitch: "She's a vampire, it's kinda her food. It's like me smelling the delicious smell of grilled meats..."
  342. Terita Estion: "I'll take that into consideration if I ever need to get you out of bed or distract a wild owlbear."
  343. Pitch: "Have you been fed yet, though, miss Maid?"
  344. Lorelei: "Mistress fed...♪"
  345. "But... smell... tempting...♪"
  346. Pitch: "Huh which mistress?"
  347. Lorelei: "...Nalzij..."
  348. Pitch: "You call us all either master or Mistress I can't tell"
  349. "...call me Pitch if you can, it'll help distinguish things."
  350. Lorelei: "Pi~tch...♪"
  351. "...taste... please?"
  352. Pitch furrows his brow and sighs.
  353. Pitch: "...if you must, I suppose"
  354. Lorelei reaches over, licking at the blood mess left over on Pitch's neck by the catkin's imperfect bite.
  355. Lorelei: "...ah..."
  356. "...Ah...♪"
  357. Lorelei clings to Pitch's arm!
  358. Pitch: "Hm? Um...what is it?"
  359. Lorelei: "...Love...♪"
  360. Pitch: "Uh...."
  361. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "H-huh? Big brother, what's going on?"
  362. Pitch: "(Thank gods Astrid isn't around right now...)"
  363. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "(Yeah, only her big sister that would probably kill you if you cheated.)"
  364. Pitch: "I have a vampire maid clinging to my arm after tasting my blood, I don't know what's going on."
  365. Lorelei: "...Love...♪"
  366. Terita Estion: "It seems you have an admirer."
  367. Pitch: "...and she's not the biggest talker so it's hard to know what she's saying."
  368. Pitch sighs.
  369. Pitch: "Do you love my blood, miss Maid?"
  370. Lorelei nods enthusiastically.
  371. Lorelei: "...Pitch...love...♪"
  372. Pitch: "Ah, okay...ph..."
  373. Terita Estion raises an eyebrow.
  374. Pitch: "(Oh come on.)"
  375. "Terita, this has nothing to do with me. All I did was let her taste some of the blood from Miss Cat's imperfect bite and she suddenly started acting like this.."
  376. Pitch attempts to gently remove the maid from his arm.
  377. Pitch: "Please remove your hands from me, miss maid."
  378. Lorelei nods, letting go and backing away.
  379. Pitch: "Thank you."
  380. Lorelei: "...Love...♪"
  381. Pitch: "...and if you could, please don't say that either...people are going to get the wrong idea..."
  382. Terita Estion: "Oh, don't worry, it seems pretty clear to me that the affections are pretty one-sided here."
  383. "Still, it looks like she's addicted."
  384. Pitch: "Phew...so you won't sick Fenrir on me?"
  385. "(It's bad enough he's a wolf-thing, but he's also freezing cold...)"
  386. Terita Estion smiles, revealing far more pointy teeth than necessary.
  387. Pitch very slightly moves back.
  388. Pitch: "(You're having way too much fun with this...)"
  389. "...what makes my blood...have this effect, though?"
  390. Lorelei: "...Pitch...♪"
  391. "...Blood... amazing...! Delicious...♪"
  392. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "...Well, you always did say you were proud of your blood..."
  393. Pitch: "Yeah, but I wasn't expecting to be praised this way"
  394. "Still....at least she seems happy. You go back to work now, please, miss."
  395. Terita Estion: "You boast about your blood, and then go and adopt vampires. What did you think was going to happen?"
  396. Lorelei: "...Master... Pitch..."
  397. Pitch: "...master Pitch?"
  398. Lorelei: "You... master... Pitch...♪"
  399. Pitch: "...yes, and?"
  400. Lorelei: "...love...you...♪"
  401. Lorelei turns around and returns to work as if nothing happened, humming to herself.
  402. Pitch rubs his head, exhausted.
  403. Pitch: "Can we just all pretend we never heard that...?"
  404. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "I wonder if there's a way I can immortalize it in song."
  405. "...Relax, big brother, you know my melodies are non-lyrical anyways."
  406. Pitch breathes a small sigh of relief.
  407. Terita Estion: "Oh, the woes of being young and popular."
  408. Terita Estion returns to teach the catkin how to cook.
  409. Pitch: "Hey, Terita? Now that this cat person works with us...do you think we should give her a name to call her by?"
  410. Terita Estion: "It would be convenient, wouldn't it?"
  411. "I asked her about it earlier and she said she didn't have one."
  412. Pitch: "Then, hmm..."
  413. "Miss Cat Maid? could you come over here a second?"
  414. Catkin Maid: "Meow?"
  415. Pitch: "Would you mind if we gave you a name to call you by?"
  416. Catkin Maid: "I don't mind, meow."
  417. Pitch: "It'd make things easier and give you more of an identity"
  418. Catkin Maid: "I don't have a name, meow. Master didn't give me one, meow."
  419. "I don't think he used a name for anyone, meow."
  420. "And the old owners didn't give me one, meow."
  421. Pitch: "Melody earlier suggested the name "Christine"...does that work out for you?"
  422. Catkin Maid: "It works fine, meow. Thank you very much for giving me a name, meow."
  423. Catkin Maid bows politely.
  424. Pitch bows to Christine.
  425. Pitch: "Thank you for letting us provide you with one, Christine."
  426. Christine: "I'll do my best, meow!"
  427. Christine returns to work, looking more motivated than before.
  428. Pitch: "(Now, Melodi, while looking after you...we'll probably both miss the trip to broken top, unfortunately. When you're healed up, though, we'll rejoin them after they've cleared up business there. Seem okay?)"
  429. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "I hope they'll be okay..."
  430. "I wish I could accompany them... it sounds like it'd be fun..."
  431. Pitch: "I hope so too...without me there, they'll be without some serious muscle...I hope just Nally can suffice."
  432. "Well, we have whatever incredible adventures await after that, right?"
  433. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Yeah!"
  434. Pitch: "After you're rested up too, we can try and make more of a difference here in the city too, while we're waiting!"
  435. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "I'm wondering though..."
  436. Pitch: "Yes?"
  437. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Lorelei... really liked the taste of your blood?"
  438. Pitch: "Apparently so.."
  439. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "But Christine didn't?"
  440. Pitch: "Christine seemed pretty indifferent to me...maybe Lorelei's more of a connoisseur?"
  441. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "She talks about blood a lot..."
  442. Pitch: "...if blood connoisseurs exist..."
  443. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Plus, well, Christine doesn't want to be a vampire, right?"
  444. "Maybe she just sees... um, feeding... as something that HAS to be done."
  445. "So she doesn't take any pleasure in it."
  446. Pitch: "True, just a necessity for being functional."
  447. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "But Lorelei said she wants to be a vampire, so... she probably likes feeding."
  448. Pitch: "(...still, she seemed happy to be given a name, and that's brightened up my day a little, at least..)"
  449. Melodi Ryuji Naabe nods.
  450. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "We know Christine's story, and apparently it was Selani's story that got her executed. But I wonder about Lorelei's..."
  451. Pitch: "Even if one wants to be a vampire, and the other doesn't....they seem to be sincere right now. And I'm willing to give them a chance..."
  452. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "She doesn't seem all that rational..."
  453. Pitch: "She seems...quirky, different."
  454. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "An outcast among vampires...?"
  455. Pitch: "Perhaps..."
  456. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "...We're all outcasts, huh?"
  457. Pitch: "That we are, a little band of outcasts, fighting for change."
  458. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "So she fits right in."
  459. Pitch: "We're a fun bunch of misfits, though~"
  460. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "(And maybe if things with Astrid don't work out...?)"
  461. Pitch: "(H-huh? What do you..um, mean?)"
  462. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "(Oh, I don't know...♪)"
  463. "(Let's just say I don't see much of a future between you and Astrid at the moment.)"
  464. Pitch: "(Hn...)"
  465. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Geez, it hasn't even been a day and I'm already making 'blind' jokes."
  466. "I hope this doesn't become a trend, or fate might not let me see again."
  467. Pitch: "Heh, yeah..."
  468. Melodi Ryuji Naabe: "Ah well. I'm sure things will go well."
  469. The siblings continue to have a lively discussion as Pitch helps Melodi with breakfast, as Terita teaches Christine about cooking and Lorelei works while humming.
