- The idea of the arena combat RPG is basic at best. I haven't hammered out -every- detail, but these are the ones that count:
- 1.) Arena combat matches would consist of waves of enemies to defeat. Enemies would be available from many different video games and anime; one round you'd be fighting Heartless or Koopa, the next you could be facing Las Plagas infectees or Darkspawn, and then you might just end up fighting other things. You'd face, at the very least, five waves of enemies before a combat match would end, and you MUST clear the wave you're on before continuing to the next wave; at the end of a match, you'd earn experience and money, and your health and special technique meters would be refilled, and any lingering status effects would be healed.
- 2.) Players would be able to choose a match from a list of them provided by that session's GM Figure, the Referee. Matches may have set regulations on them, such as "no weapons", "no magic or special techniques", "NO ITEMS EVER", or "fight under effect of <insert status effect here>". In addition to this, certain matches may have a boss enemy at the end of them to clear as well. Clearing a boss enemy match would earn you a lot more money and experience than you normally would. Also available at times would be special 'money multiplier' or 'experience multiplier' matches, which would pay out immensely for players.
- 3.) In accordance with the overarching story of the arena, after clearing five bosses, players would gain the attention of an Exterminator, a set Elite Boss you'd be able to face in a special one-on-one, one-round arena match. Defeating an Exterminator would cause the player rank up and unlock the next set of arena combat matches. Defeating all the Exterminators would allow the player to prestige, and start over with the money and experience from their last playthrough, but would also cause enemies, bosses, and Exterminators to be that much tougher to scale. It would also unlock hidden Bonus Bosses for them to face as well.
- That's the basics for the RPG. I think next, I'll go in-depth on how the weapons, magic, and combat work in the RPG.
