  1. ** This method works only on the original language-locked versions like Polish and Russian - make sure to download properly from Origin Library
  2.
  3. ** Make sure to purchase (at the cost of 0.00 EUR [free]) English voiceover DLC from the Origin store, otherwise everything here has no point
  4.
  5. ** Whenever I'm referring to "pl" in a filename or "/pl/" in a document, you should assume I'm referring to your native language abbreviation (for example "ru" or "/ru/" for Russian)
  6.
  7. ** Make sure to copy the entire folder with the files you're about to alter. It will save you time (as in downloading the game all over or veryfing installation) if you make a mistake somewhere and won't know where.
  8.
  9. ** It is necessary to perform all of the actions below, providing ready-to-use files has been reported to have mixed success. These instructions are 100% guaranteed to work correctly for Polish and Russian language-locked versions.
  10. DISCLAIMER: these instructions will work ONLY on untouched original game files - be sure to get rid of any previous attempts at hacking the language lock.
  11.
  12. ** Step by Step insutructions:
  13.
  14. 1) Go to https://notepad-plus-plus.org/ and download the latest version of Notepad++ or use the provided installer included in this package (you can use default settings)
  15.
  16. 2) Go to: "[your Origin installation path or a custom one]\Dragon Age Inquisition\Data\Win32\loctext"
  17.
  18. 3) Rename original files adding the "orig_" prefix to file names; they should look like "orig_pl.sb" for example (the prefix doesn't matter so you can freely name them something else)
  19.
  20. 4) Unpack the original replacement files from the included archive to the above folder
  21.
  22. 5) Rename those files from "en.sb" to "pl.sb" and "en.toc" to "pl.toc" respectively
  23. REMEMBER: "pl" here stands as an example, you will need to rename to "ru" name if you're hacking a Russian version
  24.
  25. 6) Launch Notepad++, open both of your newly renamed files (they will open as tabs inside the program)
  26.
  27. 7) With both of the files open, hit CTRL + H to open the replace dialog, in "Find what" put "/en/", and in "Replace with" put "/pl/"; check the "Match whole words only",
  28. and hit the "Replace All in All Opened Documents" (the info shown in green on the bottom of the dialog should indicate that an upwards of 100 strings were replaced)
  29. REMEMBER: "/pl/" here stands as an example, you will need to rename to "ru" name if you're hacking a Russian version
  30.
  31. 8) Now save both of the open files individually by opening them and hitting "CTRL + S"; Congratulations, you've just hacked the core game...
  32.
  33. 9) Now it's time to plug the holes in translation. Proceed to "[your Origin installation path or a custom one]\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\".
  34.
  35. 10) For each folder in the current location (the number of them depends on the number of DLCs you own and have installed, there will always be "Patch", "Multiplayer_DLC1" and "Multiplayer_DLC2" folders),
  36. NOTE: some of these folders will only have "en", "fr" and "de" files which correspond to spoken lanugauges in the game, YOU DON'T NEED TO ALTER THEM IN ANY WAY!
  37. you have to follow the "[folder name]\Data\Win32\loctext" path, and whenever you find a "pl" named file, you have to replace it with the "en" file ALREADY PRESENT IN THAT SAME FOLDER (which you will modify)
  38. (by renaming the "en" file to "pl" and repeating steps 6 and 7 on THAT FILE, NOTE: be sure to copy the original files and rename them to "orig_" prefix for example)
  39.
  40. 11) Once you've renamed all the "en" files in those folders to "pl", got rid of the originals by adding prefixes like "orig_" and saved all the files, you're good to go. Launch the game.
  41.
  42. 12) TROUBLESHOOTING:
  43. - Now, if the game crashes on launch or gets stuck at loading forever, it means you corrupted or deleted or moved one of the language config files, check the folders against the copies (I hope) you made before
  44. - If the game launches, you'll know if the "core" of the Single Player game works, simply by just looking at the "save game icon message" at the loading screen - if it's in English, you succeeded.
  45. - If the message is still in your native language you made a mistake with files in the folder from step 2.
  46. - If none of the issues above are present, go ahead and check the settings menu, if ONLY some options are in your native language, you probably made a mistake in the "Patch" folder (from the additional folders in step 10)
  47. - If there are no issues at all, you've succeeded completely in getting the ONE TRUE ORIGINAL LANGUAGE OF THIS GAME - ENGLISH !!! Congratulations.
  48.
  49. Farewell, and enjoy the new experience. I definately did.
