  1. LAW <--------------> CHAOS
  2. In other words, order and disorder. Those whose personalities align with law stick confidently with their beliefs, and try to make everything conform to them. On the other hand, those who align with chaos prefer the disorder that arises from the intermingling of all beliefs. To put it simply, law is stubborn in their principles and resistant to change, and chaos is flexible. Of course, neither are inherently good or evil.
  3.
  4. LIGHT <----------------> DARK
  5. A righteous heart is signified by light, and a wicked heart is signified by dark. It's similar to the values of "Justice" and "Evil." If you take the Law-Chaos axis as one's sense of values towards the world, the Light-Dark axis can be said to represent one's actions towards and evaluations of other people. Those who align with light take actions that will be perceived as right, and those who align with dark act according to their own desires, which often winds up being destructive towards others.
  6.
  7.
  8. Light Law:
  9. Virtuous beings that value order. Gods themselves or corresponding beings fall in this category. The Shinrei from SMT II are symbolic for this category.
  10. Daitenshi (Heralds) Reicho (Avian) are always of this nature, Angels however are Light Law only in SMT I, since SMT II the Light-Dark side became Neutral.
  11. Also godly beings such as Majin (Deity) and Megami are classified as Light-Law in SMT I and Debisama.
  12.
  13. Neutral Law:
  14. Not really obsessed with good and evil, they just want to carry out their justice. They focus only on realizing the plan of the sole god they believe in, even if those actions happen to be actions one can't call good in reality, the angels acting them out symbolize that nature.
  15. Similar are the Messians blindly believing in God in SMT and SMT II. Only Youchou (Flight) are also classified here.
  16.
  17. Dark Law:
  18. Trying to conquer the world with a vile intent. Light Gods aren't compatible with this category of course. However to accomplish that world it happens that they call themselves (speak of) God.
  19. Symbolic for this are Jashin (Vile). Kyouchou (Raptors) get also classified here. The Machine and Vaccine race from SMT also belong here, probably because they were programmed with a vile intent and blindly act according to that.
  20.
  21. Light Neutral:
  22. They have a good character, however are not interested in unifiying the world. One could say they respect their own world (own worlds in general?)
  23. Shinjuu (Avatar) and Seirei (Elements) are symbolic of this nature. Majin and Megami belong here in SMT II and if... . Also a lot of races have this nature in Debisama, Genma, Mitama, Eiketsu (Famed), Hishin (Enigma) are also classified as Light-Neutral
  24.
  25. Neutral-Neutral:
  26. Aren't bound by good and evil or principles, one could call them selfish/self-centered. They act according to what they decide is good for them but that judgement can change. Symbolic for this nature are the races not bound by anyone, living as they please, which are Fairy, Beasts and Jirae. Jirae and Fairies were classified as Neutral-Law in SMT I but since then they changed their nature in a complete neutral one.
  27.
  28. Dark-Neutral:
  29. Having vile intent, yet not really trying to change the world. Destroying only for ones own pleasure. Symbolic for this nature are the Youjuu (Wilder) who hate being controlled by others and like only going wild (:^)). The Corpse who are zombies (sounds pretty stupid in english) also go here. Jaki who were classified as Dark-Law in SMT I also belong here since SMT II.
  30.
  31. Light-Chaos:
  32. Having a good nature but hating world order, liking a state of chaos. Symbolic are Hakaishin (Fury) but also Jiboshin (Lady) from a world that has surpassed god and evil, who give birth to diverse (a variety of) beings.
  33. Additionally the Ryuushin that symbolize the world itself in a lot of mythologies and Kishin (Kishin) which have a lot of Japanese gods are classified as Light-Chaos. The race exclusive to SMT II and if... Kunitsukami (Kunitsu) also go here.
  34.
  35. Neutral-Chaos:
  36. A type that is not interested in good or evil, only likes to only press forward according to what ones pleasure-loving self likes. Symbolic are Angels who formerly blindly believed in God but fell because of their desires, (lo and behold:) Datenshi (Fallen).
  37. The Gaia from SMT I and II, treated the same as the Messians, are classified here.
  38. Furthermore Yoma (Night) go here too but they were perfectly neutral in SMT II.
  39.
  40. Dark-Chaos:
  41. Beings that are not only vile but also have the goal of creating a chaotic state of destruction and massacre. The personifications of Evil, Maou (Tyrant) and Jaryuu (Drake) are high-positioned beings in this category. There are also demons in this category that don't have a lot of power but still like vileness and chaos, low-ranked beings such as Yuuki (Haunt) and Akuryou (Spirit), Gedou (Foul).
  42. Additionally Virus from SMT II also belong to this category.
