  1. 1. specified faith: faith in a being because you believe in, love or desire what they represent, most common in 'concept' gods which represent specific concepts, more common in pantheons than in singular gods. by worshipping one such god, you wish to bring more of their concept or their will into the world, particularly gods like Fanekh who represent recovery, justice and mercy
  2.
  3. 2. direct faith: faith in a being because you believe it is wise or benevolent and thus that it should be followed; belief in such a being's creed is not directly because that creed is what it represents, in this case the creed comes as a consequence of the figure's divinity; common in singular 'idol' gods such as Vask, and in heroes and champions such as Orrari
  4.
  5. 3. transactional faith: faith in a being to deliver some end or to give you something in exchange for your favor. this belief is not centered around the being's innate goodness or badness, but merely in one's belief in its /power/ and, ergo, their power to deliver benefits to you. cyclical, inasmuch as the power it has to fulfill the faithful comes only from their faith itself, effectively an engine for turning faith into magical miracles beyond mortal ability. exemplified in the Shackled One and Kharuhex the Wheel of Eyes
  6.
  7. 4. forced faith: belief in and worship of a being out of necessity, whether it is because your only salvation is through them, or because you were indoctrinated or even merely forced at the end of a weapon to worship. this kind of faith is NOT actually invalid; you can terrify people into giving themselves to your god, but that faith stays only as long as the mortal might of that god's army remains. somewhat rare nowadays, exemplified in En whose faith came from those with few other options and out of a sense of hopelessness, and Nailaxkha all of whose followers were forced in some way
  8.
  9. 5. true faith: belief in an entity's power because no other option has been presented to you, and no other reality exists. this is the most dangerous and blind kind of faith, constructed only within the bowels of extremely restrictive and religious regimes, engines for the most delusional and powerful kind of faith. such faith is often full and complete, with so much invested in a god that all of reality would seem malleable to that god's whims. can create VERY powerful gods, but their reign is fragile...
