  5. **Item #:**
  6.
  7. **Object Class:** SCP-240 is to be kept in the Secure Artifact Storage Facility in Site-77. Due to its age and delicate construction, SCP-240 must be kept in a vacuum sealed container with humidity and temperature levels constantly monitored and controlled. The mouthpiece is to be encased in steel on a permanent basis. No subjects are permitted to enter SCP-240's containment chamber. --Any testing done with SCP-240 must have prior approval from Dr. ███████ and must have at least one trained artifact preservation specialist present.-- No testing with SCP-240 is permitted by order of the site director.

  9. **Special Containment Procedures:**
  10.
  11. **Description:** SCP-240 is a vehicle capable of air travel, composed out of a wooden snow ski for the user to place their feet, and a mouthpiece set to a pipe device with two steel drums welded to the sides. When the user blows into the mouthpiece, it creates lift, allowing the subject to travel at speeds up to 14 kilometers per hour.
  12.
  13. When activated, SCP-240 is capable of going for approximately twice as long as the user blows into it. Following this, it will enter a slow descent, until landing. Although it can only take off from land, testing has shown that SCP-240 is also capable of landing on water, heavier-than-air gases, and plasma. When exposed to these elements prior to the user breathing into the mouthpiece, however, SCP-240 reacts as expected from the materials it is composed from.
  14.
  15. It is not known where the breath SCP-240 users blow into goes. Testing has shown that users with detectable natural anomalies in their breath, such as alcohol, show no sign of it after use. In addition, SCP-240 produces no emissions during testing, and the steel drums do not appear to have any connection to the mouthpiece or piping.
  16.
  17. In addition, when users with anomalies within their breath utilize SCP-240, the time in which they are able to ride diminishes significantly. SCP-240 will suddenly cease to produce thrust, and thus it is recommended that extra safety protocols be undertaken during testing of this kind.
  18.
  19. SCP-240 was discovered in 1927, in the possession of the Morsum Space Society, following a raid on their headquarters due to botlegging charges. SCP-240 was discovered inside the home and was taken as evidence. Its extranormal capabilities were not discovered until three years later, when an evidence clerk casually blew into SCP-240 and was thrown across the room, suffering a broken nose and three fractured ribs. SCP-240 was immediately transferred to the Foundation while a nonfunctioning replica was handed over to the UIU. Due to the age and relative obscurity of SCP-240, it was not difficult to manufacture material discrediting any proof of its existence as a hoax.
  20.
  21. **Addendum:** Utilizing fiber optic camera technology, Foundation personnel were able to place cameras within SCP-240 during normal use. During the course of the examination, the camera picked up a view of a spherical planetoid, which did not match any space body known to the Foundation. When the user blew into SCP-240, all signal from the camera was lost for the duration of the flight, during which the sounds of shattering glass, glass tapping against glass, and containers pressurizing were picked up. Following this, the camera was only able to see a debris field.
  22.
  23. All testing with SCP-240 has been suspended indefinitely, pending review.
