  1. In early 2016, the Cuban regime of Raul Castro endangered the lives of 2 asylum-seeking American human rights activists. Below, for the first time, Marty and Dana Gottesfeld discuss the 4 weeks they spent in Cuba seeking shelter from US Attorney Carmen Ortiz and her well-known, widely-lamented, and previously-deadly abuses of federal prosecutorial power:

  7. Some of this story, including how Marty had been targeted by Carmen Ortiz for standing up against the torture of innocent teenager Justina Pelletier, has been covered by Rolling Stone, Michelle Malkin and numerous others:

  13. Justina has also spoken out since her release. She thanked Marty in Rolling Stone, and in an Edward R. Morrow Award-winning interview, she described firsthand the unconscionable abuse she endured before Marty came to her aid:

  16. Now, 2.5 years later, Marty is still imprisoned and being prosecuted by new U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling. Many feel that the judge presiding over the case (the same judge who presided over the tragic death of Aaron Swartz) is too well-connected to Justina's tormentors to be impartial and they questioned his rulings denying Marty bail, his rights under The Speedy Trial Act, and to a neutral and detached arbiter of justice:

  20. So, with closing arguments and deliberations in Marty's case scheduled for this Tuesday, July 31, he and Dana are now discussing their experiences as asylum-seekers in Cuba for the first time below.
