  1. “But I have my reasons. Unlike you, I have a reason to fight.”
  2.
  3. “…”
  4.
  5. #7 did not respond.
  6.
  7. Sogiita tried to approach Ollerus in order to drive some guts into the gutless man before
  8. him.
  9.
  10. That was when Ollerus showed the true value of his own power.
  11.
  12. Simply put, it was an unexplainable phenomenon.
  13.
  14. Even Sogiita who received the attack could not even slightly understand what had
  15. happened to him.
  16.
  17. Before he realized it, he had been blown away a great distance.
  18.
  19. Everything from the surface of his body to his very core received damage equally. He
  20. was not hit in one spot and then the shock spread from there; it was more like an
  21. unnatural damage had permeated his entire body like a cloth being dunked in water.
  22.
  23. “...?”
  24.
  25. After receiving that clean hit, strength left his legs and he collapsed to the ground. Even
  26. so, the only thing in Sogiita Gunha’s mind was not filled with fear; his mind was full of
  27. questions.
  28.
  29. He didn’t even let himself feel any danger to his life from Ollerus’s attack.
  30.
  31. “The most fearsome attack in this world is an unexplainable power,” spoke the man who
  32. should have become a Magic God. “No matter what kind of mysterious power your
  33. attack uses, if you swing it down the same as a sword, it can be stopped the same as a
  34. sword. If you shoot it the same as a gun, it can be blocked the same as a gun. Any kind of
  35. unknown attack that can be understood is pretty much the same.”
  36.
  37. “Ghhh.”
  38.
  39. #7 attempted to stand up from his face-down position.
  40.
  41. Ollerus did not move.
  42.
  43. He did not make a single action that was explainable or understandable.
  44.
  45. He merely caused some phenomenon and Sogiita’s body was blown back even further.
  46. “But an unexplainable power cannot be dealt with the same way.” Ollerus spoke slowly
  47. and quietly. “The most fearsome thing in this world is to be defeated by an attack using
  48. an unexplainable power coming from an incomprehensible place while you have no way
  49. of thinking up a counter measure. The attack is vague and you cannot assign conditions
  50. to it and you don’t even know if there is a direction you can go to avoid it or if you could
  51. even avoid it after getting tens of thousands of kilometers away. You now know how
  52. horrible that is firsthand.”
  53.
  54. Sogiita did not voice any surprise.
  55.
  56. It may have been incomplete, but he had taken two direct hits from Ollerus’s Hliðskjálf.
  57. That legendary throne did not actually have any attack functionality, but that was the
  58. very reason that Ollerus’s spell had evolved to something unexplainable when he
  59. forcibly used it as one. Hliðskjálf’s attack was a vague thing that did not have a defined
  60. range or force, so #7 had most likely already lost consciousness from being on the
  61. receiving end of it.
  62.
  63. “There is no major difference between us,” muttered Ollerus as he relaxed. “One of us is
  64. aware that we wield an unexplainable power and the other isn’t. That is the only real
  65. difference between us. You are the delicate yet complex #7 that not even the Academy
  66. City researchers could do anything about. In fact, you’re a special esper that they aren’t
  67. even sure should really be classified as a Level 5. If you understood that yourself, you
  68. may have been able to defeat me.”
  69.
  70. The man who should have become a Magic God’s objective was to fight with the #7 and
  71. defeat him with overwhelming power.
  72.
  73. It was a slight check on Academy City that was gathering large numbers of Gemstones.
  74. Ollerus decided that he had accomplished his goal and silently turned around.
  75.
  76. “I did have a reason that I couldn’t let myself lose. It may have been unfortunate for you,
  77. but just accept your defeat. This isn’t a problem that can be dealt with using guts.”
  78.
  79. Then…
  80.
  81. “...Now that’s a comment I can’t just let go.”
  82.
  83. A presence stood up.
  84.
  85. Ollerus slowly turned back around. A boy was standing there with wounds covering his
  86. body. He had received the unknown attack of Hliðskjálf twice and should have lost
  87. consciousness, and yet he stood up. Ollerus had not seen that coming. However, this
  88. was the world Ollerus lived in.
  89.
  90. “Don’t treat people like they have no guts before they’ve given up, you bastard.”
  91.
  92. Blood was oozing from his forehead.
  93.
  94. His breathing was erratic.
  95.
  96. But #7 ignored the pain and stared at Ollerus.
  97.
  98. “I won’t be defeated so easily. I’ll show you that being arrogant and full of yourself isn’t
  99. the only kind of strength! Guts aren’t something you lose just because you’re at a
  100. disadvantage!”
  101.
  102. An unknown power wrapped itself around Sogiita Gunha.
  103.
  104. “I’ll show you what true guts are! You don’t need some great reason. A man who isn’t
  105. twisted or rotten, even if he’s a complete stranger, can stand up for some injured girls!”
  106.
  107. #7 ran forward with the momentum of the power gushing forth.
  108.
  109. Unlike Ollerus’s unexplainable power, anyone could understand his simple approach.
  110.
  111. Ollerus smiled in response.
  112.
  113. As he smiled, he took no action that was explainable or understandable.
  114.
  115. The third instance of Hliðskjálf and the seventh Level 5.
  116.
  117. Those two inexpressible, inexplicable, and incomprehensible monsters clashed.
  118.
  119. And...
