  2. Hello, welcome to the interview discord for the ST Actor Sect. We won't start immediately, so in the mean time I'd ask for you to prepare three event scenarios for me in the next day or two. They don't have to be too convoluted or indepth. Just want a rough scenario for 1-5 people, 5-10 people and then a bigger eventline overall. This is just to gauge your thinking and see where your mindset is at in regarding events. Ping me when you've finished that and we can get started on the actual interview. @Rift

  8. Event Scenario I -
  9. 1 to 5 participants
  10. The players will find a bounty asking for aid in dealing with a pair of apparitions who are apparently terrorizing the locals of a small village. Upon finding these ‘apparitions’, the players will find out that they are two Gravens, wallowing in their own misery. The players have a choice to ambush the Gravens or they might choose to approach them peacefully. If the latter is chosen, the Gravens will introduce themselves to the players - revealing that they both were brothers in life and were aspiring musicians: one brother plays the lute, the other plays the flute. Their dream in life was to perform in front of an audience in a big city, yet they died before they could accomplish such.
  11. The brothers will ask the players if they can help them fulfill their dream. If the players accept, the players will need to take the two brothers to a city (which has a fair amount of players in it at the time) and convince the players there to watch the two perform. It would be wise for the players helping the brothers to disguise them somehow in order to mask the fact that they’re undead. Irregardless of the audience’s response, the Gravens will thank the players who helped them, taking them back to where they first met. Once the Gravens have left the mortal plane, all that is left is their lute, flute, and a cache filled with other instruments - a sign of gratitude toward the participating players.
  12. Event Scenario II (2) -
  13. 5 to 10 participants
  14. A notice will be posted about odd sightings around one particular location: strange cave largely composed of blue glass and/or blue crystals. The sightings will range from blue trees to eight-legged horses. The players who choose to investigate this cave will indeed find that walls are made from a mix of glass and crystals. The further they trek into the cave, they notice that shadows in there act strangely. Eventually the party will be greeted by the sight of a cloaked figure who quickly vanishes. The walls of the cave quickly turn red, then purple, then back to blue. A whole lot of illusion-based fuckery ensues as a result of the Veist’s Avatar that the party encounters. The party may try to break the illusions by attempting to attack the avatar or try distracting it through a conversation.

  19. Event Scenario III -
  20. 10 to 15 participants
  21. Players will find a warning posted by a Dwarf residing within the capital of Urguan, mentioning a strange fortress within the surrounding caverns - manned by figures that were tough for him to discern. The warning advises adventurers to travel in large, armed groups and provides a rough sketch of what the fortress looks like. The players, upon finding the event-site, will see a large fortress armed with many siege weapons and strange mechanisms. A retinue of armored automatons will return to the citadel - provided they do not see the party of players on their way or if the players do not engage them in combat - and the citadel’s mechanical gate will open for them, closing shortly afterwards. The players may attempt to scale the walls in order to sneak in, they may try outright attacking (which will go poorly), or they may try introducing themselves to the automatons manning the fortress’s walls. If the first or third option is taken and the players can prove themselves to be trustable to the automatons, the automatons will welcome them into the fortress, and begin explaining the purpose of their fortress provided one of the players asks. The automatons explain that they were built to protect against a threat that lies within the caverns, some of their creators having become automatons themselves (Machine Spirits). The automatons guiding the players will mention deeper caves tainted by the influence of mana as they pass by a guarded gate which presumably leads to one such cave.
  22. These automatons’ tour will be interrupted when another automaton brings to their attention something has gone amiss near the entrance that was passed by earlier. The players will be asked to stay put while the automatons leave to check on the gate. The players will hear explosions and see smoke coming from the area of concern, they may choose to investigate what’s going on. They’ll find an ongoing battle where emergency barricades have been put up and the automatons are fighting off what appears to be an incursion of large insectoids. These insectoids have been corrupted by mana and seem to desire more mana, which is why they’ve broken through the gate in an attempt to move onto higher grounds. Once a majority of the insectoids have been slain, a much more massive insectoid will appear - posing an even greater threat to those present. Once the ‘commander’ of these insectoids has been slain, the remaining creatures will flee.
  23. The players will be thanked for their assistance and the automatons who guided them before will explain what it was that they fought against.
  24. This will kick-off an event-line in which more players may choose to assist the automatons in the fight against these strange creatures, as the creatures have started to appear throughout more locations in the caves - encouraging players to create their own fortifications and prepare for further incursions, explore the mana influenced caves, and attempt to wipe the insectoids out.
  25. For the larger event line, I was thinking of having these incursions twice a week or so, kept to the caves of course so we don't have a September Prince situation where players worry about their cities/builds being destroyed, and work with players on setting up times for cave exploration and all that.

  27. @joel Those are the ideas, not sure if anything else needs to be elaborated on but yeah.
  28. joelLast Saturday at 10:10 AM
  29. Yeah I'll commence the interview like after work
  30. RiftLast Saturday at 10:10 AM
  31. gotcha
  32. joelLast Saturday at 8:52 PM
  33. From here we'll commence the interview. You do not have to answer everything immediately, just whenever you have time to formulate a response. Want you to be as thorough as you wish with the answers to these questions. I may ask for clarification or expansion if necessary. And as always, this'll be reviewed by Xarkly and Myself and potentially the rest of the ST management when deciding if you are going to go on the team.
  34.
  35. What do you believe are your strengths as a roleplayer and a potential ST member?
  36. RiftLast Sunday at 4:33 AM
  37. I like to think of myself as someone who tries to communicate with other players during roleplay and be considerate of others. It's important to remember that we're all just playing a game and we're (hopefully) here to have fun. For example, during a combat situation in roleplay I like to be as fair as I can and message a player on the other to see if what I'm doing is fine. I'm sure most people don't like having a crossbow bolt lodged within their persona's skull in a single emote, or maybe an emote that says something like "Bobby swings his warhammer through the air, cracking [insert player here]'s head open like a watermelon." Mind you that emote would probably be powergaming but yeah.
  38. Point is no one really likes the instant-kill emotes if they're on the receiving end, which is pretty obvious. So I try doing what I can during roleplay to message the player asking them something like "Hey, are you cool if my horse is moving x blocks each emote round?" if a pursuit/chase is going on, or I might tell the player "I'm doing so and so with this, hopefully that makes sense. If that doesn't, let me know asap!" Also, of course, giving players a chance to respond to something.
  39. I've found the combat situations where players actively communicate with each other to be the most enjoyable.
  40. I'd like to apply this sort of mindset this to ST events, since I feel like events especially are somewhere that players come to have fun. The whole crossbow bolt through the head thing applies here too because I'm sure most players don't just want to have their party get incinerated right as they enter a dungeon (little extreme but just an example).
  41. RiftLast Sunday at 4:47 AM
  42. With events I'd be messaging the players to check what it is that they're doing and explain what's going on when something happens to them.
  43. joelLast Sunday at 8:50 AM
  44. Is there any playerbases you would not wish to cater for? (May this be because of personal conflicts or biases. This will not negatively effect your interview, this is just to get a small indication of where you would gravitate towards if you were successful)
  45. RiftLast Sunday at 8:57 AM
  46. Not really, I'd say I'm fine enough with most if not all player-bases.
  47. joelLast Sunday at 9:00 AM
  48. What is your biggest weakness as a roleplayer?
  49. RiftLast Sunday at 9:09 AM
  50. I think my biggest weakness is that I have some trouble making my personas distinct from one another in the sense that I often catch myself typing up an emote and seeing that the actions and mannerisms described for this second persona of mine - let's say - is similar to my first or primary persona. It's probably because I spend more time on one persona compared to the other. There's only so much you can do with text before it's a jumbled mess of text that goes on for a paragraph or so that describes each and every breath your persona is taking.
  51. That goes into another weakness for me as a role-player where I feel like I'm writing large emotes that have detail but aren't very cohesive, while I feel like I can't convey much with shorter emotes.
  52. Yeah
  53. joelLast Sunday at 9:14 AM
  54. What interests you about joining the ST (Actor sect specifically)?
  55. RiftLast Sunday at 9:17 AM
  56. I've been wanting to do events for a little while now. I helped run a few of the soul tree events in the September Prince event-line which I found to be really fun.
  57. Another reason why I'm interested is I like walking around the map to find cool builds that can be interacted with, and I'd like to see more of that on this map and give players an incentive to explore the map.
  58. joelLast Sunday at 9:26 AM
  59. What would your goals/objectives be for joining the ST. Are you coming in here on an agenda or is it something more broad?
  60. RiftLast Sunday at 9:34 AM
  61. I'd say one of my goals is creating an RP event-zone that players can come to actively for, of course, events but also eventually develop builds that can used for non-event related roleplay. That's what I'd like to do with the idea I gave for event scenario 3/the event-line. Aside from that, I'd just like to do some fairly frequent events for players to take part in.
  62. joelLast Sunday at 9:38 AM
  63. What do you think is your limit on the amount of players you could handle in an event scenario by yourself?
  64. RiftLast Sunday at 9:39 AM
  65. I'd say 8 to 10.
  66. joelLast Sunday at 9:39 AM
  67. Anything you would change or disagree with on the ST? (Think of feedback from about the last year or so)
  68. RiftLast Sunday at 9:40 AM
  69. Nothing in particular that I'd change/disagree with.
  70. joelLast Sunday at 9:44 AM
  71. What would you be focused on creating on the ST?
  72. RiftLast Sunday at 9:47 AM
  73. The event-zones as mentioned earlier. So an example of what I'm thinking of is having crystalline caves and what have you in the large caves near Urguan and let players interact with those caves - whether that be by exploring them, building fortifications along the entrances, etcetera. I wasn't around for the Westerlands but from what I've heard about, that's kind of what I'm thinking of?
  74. Pretty much providing these large zones that players can come to for a variety of roleplay.
  75. joelLast Sunday at 9:49 AM
  76. And that's about it. Any questions before we conclude?
  77. RiftLast Sunday at 9:49 AM
  78. No questions from me.
  79. joelLast Sunday at 9:50 AM
  80. Alright. Thanks for applying, I'll contact you in a week or so. Feel free to leave the discord
