45. A DEA special ops unit becomes involved in a large scale bust involving tens of millions of dollars. The bust becomes interesting when the group decides to take 10 million dollars for their own use. Things go sour when the money which was hidden turns out to be missing. The group eventually recovers from an internal investigation with another chance to salvage their reputation. But which organized drug group would forget about 10 million dollars? The bigger mystery is where did that money go?
 46. An elite DEA team raids the safe house of a drug cartel and hide $10 million in the plumbing. When they go back to retrieve the money it is not there. The team is under investigation for the missing $10 million. Then after a couple months the investigation is lifted. The team trains together again and then celebrates at a strip club. Then one of the team is murdered. He wakes up in his RV on railroad tracks. Then a second team member is nailed to the ceiling. The third team member is gunned down at his remote cabin. There is a female City of Atlanta investigator in charge of the murders. After investigating the cartel angle, the twisted truth comes to light.
 47. I will start off by saying, I'm not a huge Arnold fan, if anyone reading this is. So I was expecting the worst, but was quite surprised, and dare I say pleased to find this movie had a much more refreshing story to it and better character development than I was originally bracing for. There are many familiar faces in the movie, not A-list actors, but known and good at what they do.

Slight spoiler for anyone, but I'll keep it as little descriptive as possible: Sugar (Terrance Howard) ended up having more of a role in the movie, yet his character was hardly shone upon, and the whole plot kind of unraveled too quickly. All of a sudden you find out that Sugar and Lizzy are in cahoots and it comes out of nowhere. The characters were very likable and easily relatable, as the main cop had her own quirky, nonchalant personality that you'd see in a normal everyday person. One thing that I could not get over was the scene where the one ex-DEA member got shot at his own safe house. The concept of a frame-by-frame past to present shot was great, but could have been executed much better, it was quite hard to tell that they were going back and fourth from the past to the present until afterwards and it didn't have a time frame, which did greatly annoy me. Violence was prevalent, quite gory and bloody if you are the kind of person that can't handle that sort of thing. If you don't like foul language or sexual innuendos and acts, then give up all hope on this movie, as it is incredibly prevalent.

The last complaint I would have on the movie is that the whole premise in the beginning, which was kind of a leash throughout the entire movie (the interrogation from the 10 million missing) seemed to have no point being included. It was touched on a bit about how the feds may have known 10 million disappeared in burning flames, but not in a realistic sense. And it overall seemed to be quite trivial to the entire plot. My take on that is that premise could have been either left out completely or substituted with something that would have a little more backbone towards the real plot.

The action was fairly realistic, as good as it gets without going completely overboard, but as someone did mention before me, the movie is also largely based on the plot more than the action.

Conclusion: is it a movie worth seeing? Not necessarily, but it's a movie you could sit down on the couch and watch via Netflix in your spare time and not be upset that you wasted 2+ hours of your life.
 48. Arnold Schwarzenegger or is it David Ayer's Sabotage. In that is the problem. David Ayer is known for gritty movies such as his excellent End of Watch and Training Day, and his equally as gritty misses such as Harsh Times and Street Kings. Arnie is an over the top action star; and we have a movie that bolts between a high flying fun action movie and a gritty crime drama. The elements just don't make sense.

Arnie is the leader of an elite team of DEA agents. Sam Worthington, Mireille Enos and Terrence Howard are just a few of the hard core, tough as nails agents who start the movie by stealing a huge sum of money from a drug lord. Time passes and once the dust settles Arnie and his team are back – only to have someone start picking them off one at a time. I would love to know the inner workings of the casting of this film, and if Ayer was secretly hoping Arnie was Mickey Rourke, or even Bruce Willis.

There are some very good action sequences, but nothing is consistent. There are big bangs, reverse POV action shots (I loved this technique, but it is only used once!) and other conflicting shooting styles. It was almost like Ayer was playing and practicing his art instead of giving us a polished product.

The acting is solid – in fact Arnie (who I always like because he does not extend himself) has improved his non verbal acting significantly in his career. But this is trying to be more than just an action movie – and fails. You have the ingredients for a great shoot em up DEA vs Mexican Drug mafia film. However Ayer wants The Councilor or Traffic, not The Expendables. The audience is confused.

Numerous plot holes start to present themselves, all unraveling the plot and mood of the movie until it devolves into considerable silliness.

I have a hard time recommending this movie for a specific fan base - although there were some enjoyable moments in the film, it just does not work. It is to gritty and messy for the Expendables style action fan, and too childish for the End of Watch fan.

Good idea, bad execution.
 49. David Ayer’s latest, Sabotage, is a sloppy DEA whodunit, distinguished by its scatological humor and gore.
 50. Lizzie murdered the members of the team because she accused them of stealing the money. a5c7b9f00b
