  1. The strategic information in The Art of War is structured by chapters which are then structed by numbered sentences. These sentences either form an informational paragraph, or they are just by themselves. Sun Tzu mostly uses compare/contrast in order to get his points across. We can see this because of how he explains what not to do and how that won't be the most effective decision, verses what to do and how it will be more effective during wartime. The purpose of The Art of War is to teach and to inform. This book teaches the reader how to conduct themselves in war the greatest way in order to win. One example of this is shown when Sun Tzu writes "Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him." In addition to teaching, Sun Tzu also informs you about some good strategies to know throughout the book. One example of Sun Tzu being informal is when he states "All warfare is based on deception."
