The hero jumps though a window and appears next to the big bad guy.
Bad guy: what?!? impossible, you cant be here, none of my quantumcomputer simuilations and  countles remote viewers saw you coming here. You never came up as a factor in all the calculations. We all asumed you died back then in act 2 of the movie.
Good guy: all that power and knowledge but forgot that the secret to a happy life is to simply live in the moment. peng

Hello and welcome to the vital redpill cinematic univere worldbuilding.

Timelines and predicting the future, how does that work? And how could it be used to enhance your worldbuiding?


We define a timeline as a potential future outcome of events. Knowing the future is a dream that many powerful people thoughout the history have invested a lot of resources to achive.

So i watched a lot of spiritual guys and channelings to get inspiration for how it will work in my universe and came up with these rules:

If a world consists of mostly mind controled individuals, then predicting the future is as easy as guessing where this pendulum will swing next. The actions of the people will follow easy to predict models, one example for this would be the mouse utopia experiment. There are theories that humans in big cities show similar behavioral patterns as observed in that experiment. In my universe this will be true for the mind controled / non-hero characters. They are under full control of the big bad guy and act „according to plan“. But the hero is different, he allways has been.

Now the juici bit: the more active/awoken/"Hero" characters there are in a world, the harder it gets to predict/manupulate the future. The pendulum turns into a double/triple/... pendulum.

So, the bad guy of the story would want as many people as posible to be "asleep" as to be better able to plan and manipulate HIS future timelines. But then then the hero comes along and somehow heroicly wakes up a lot of people. This then causes the bad guy to slowly lose control over everybody, as his mind control shemes relied so much on beeing able to predict and influence the future. Because, If you are able to allways know the future, you start thinking very long term; you become slower in the NOW. But the hero was born in the now, he learned to adapt and improvise in miliseconds.

And because of this, the hero will will be triumpfnat in the final episode of the TIMELINES super hit movie trilogy.
An important element at the climax of the of the movie will be the bad guy slowly realising that his tech is failing, for example when a planed hit movie with many important mind control messages surprisingly flops at the box office. Realising that he is losing his power, he goes full full mad scientist mode and starts pressing all the buttons of his "control the masses" mashine… turning all existing measures up to evelen. He panics. Some low level bad guys start packing their bags and leave. And because the mind control measures are not apropiatly used, more and more people start waking up and having their: „hmm, wait a second...something about this is not right about this“ awakening moment. This will of course only accelerate the demise of the big bad guy, but also create a dramatic element for the hero. Will he be able to stop the bad guy before its to late? as many egomanic powerhungry individuals would rather destroy everything than lose control over their precious playthings...
