- It depends on the requirement. If your site is already having good amount of diversified links then you can use main keyword as anchor or else go with long tail keyword as anchor. Regarding search volume we can target both ones.

- Much more important is anchor text ratio than monthly searches.
- Check the competitors on 1st page to get the reference about anchor text ratio, then your ratio can't be higher than 10-20% of the median.
- And you're pretty safe, because in this case no matter if we talking about guest posts or paid links.

- Sorry can I ask you a noob question. An anchor text ratio meaning the amount of keyword that the competition is using on the article right?

- I'll explain you on example what I mean by anchor text ratio.
- Let's we say you have 100 backlinks from 100 Ref. domains for blog post.
- If 20 of those backlinks have the same anchor text - In this case you have ratio 0.2 or 20%.
