  1. Quick-start guide for isostick while the forums are down:
  2.
  3. Install the firmware updater for your OS:
  4. Windows 32bit: http://isostick.com/updater/isostick-updater-setup-32bit.msi
  5. Windows 64bit: http://isostick.com/updater/isostick-updater-setup-64bit.msi
  6. MacOS X: http://isostick.com/updater/isostick-updater.dmg
  7. Linux: http://isostick.com/updater/isostick-updater.tar.gz
  8.
  9. Plug in your isostick and, using a paperclip or a pin, press the reset button on the bottom (identified in this picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/eric_agan/6691833211/in/set-72157623653164017 )
  10. The reset button places the isostick in firmware update mode.
  11.
  12. Run the updater, if it doesn't automatically highlight your currently-installed firmware, press Get Info. If you're on Linux you may need to select the isostick from the drop-down, it's usually ttyU-something, try checking out `dmesg' and look for "isostick bootloader."
  13.
  14. Select the latest firmware (r1616 at the time of writing) and click Apply Update.
  15. If the update hangs or fails for any reason, unplug & replug the isostick, once again push the reset button, and try again.
  16.
  17. Once updated, you need to create a directory named "config" on your isostick.
  18. Within "config", create a text file named "iso_filename.txt", you can leave it blank for now.
  19. Download http://isostick.com/isosel.bin into the "config" directory as well, this gives you the nice boot menu when you boot from isostick's CDROM drive.
  20.
  21. Go ahead and drop some ISOs on your isostick anywhere you like.
  22. Finally, to get this party started, load an ISO into the drive: Open up iso_filename.txt and put in the path+filename of the ISO you want to load, such as "/OSes/win7.iso" or "\memtest.iso" or etc.
  23.
  24. NOTE: If you're on Windows, after you save iso_filename.txt the ISO should load within a minute or two.
  25. If you're on MacOS X or Linux, you may need to eject/unmount the isostick then replug it -- an annoying limitation I'm working around in a future update.
  26. WINDOWS USERS: Sometimes Windows will save iso_filename.txt as iso_filename.txt.txt, double-check it! :)
  27.
  28. ONE LAST THING: iso_filename.txt can't be Unicode/UTF8 at the moment, be sure to save it as ANSI or ASCII if your editor gives the option.
