  1. Fishing Minigame
  2. The fishing minigame has a cool map and a fish that can move around in the map, but it doesn't offer any control over where the fish goes and the fish is entirely unaffected by which map square it's in. Let's change that.
  3. - make fishing be affected by the map squares the fish is in
  4. - snags will eventually snag your pole if you stay in them too long
  5. - open water leaves the fish no cover, making it more tired
  6. - certain fish may have hiding spots they can get bonuses if they make it to
  7. - add mechanics for controlling the fish's movement
  8. - yanking (tentative name): lets you [instantly move the fish / decide the next direction the fish will move in / decide the next direction the fish will move in and make the next move happen in 2 seconds]
  9. progressively unlock more yank types as you go on: towards you, towards centre, cancel move, away from centre, combinations of the above, away from you (in that order)
  10. - blocking (tentative name): lets you block off certain map squares so the fish cannot move into them; progressively unlock more blocking locations and eventually get two blocks instead of one
  11.
  12. Outposts
  13. This is the bit we signed on to do - making an outpost that sells fishing equipment and offers fishing quests for rewards. However, there isn't much fishing equipment to sell yet, and there isn't a way to influence which fish you hook for the purposes of doing fishing quests.
  14. - implement ways to influence which fish are attracted to your hook
  15. - bait types: meat, insect, fruit, special
  16. each fish has a kind of bait it likes, and fish that like the bait you're using will show up 4x more than fish that aren't
  17. each boss fish should have a special bait that specifically appeals to it and not show up for any other bait, so you can go for it only after you're ready
  18. baits are used up after a few fish have bitten it
  19. you can buy non-special bait at the outpost
  20. - floats
  21. more control over what fish you hook? do we need this?
  22. - add equipment upgrades that make you fish better
  23. - things that could be upgraded
  24. - rod
  25. - line
  26. - floats/sinkers/bobbers/weights
  27. - hook
  28. - reel
  29. - tackle box to carry around all of the above
  30. - clothes?
  31. - things that upgrades could do
  32. - reduced snagging in snag tiles
  33. - increased fish stamina drain
  34. - slot upgrades that you can only have one of
  35. - probably an important factor in puzzle boss strategy
  36. - if we don't need floats for fish selection we can use them here
  37. - things that upgrades could cost
  38. - you have to master your existing rod to get a new one - mastery is a value stored in the rod that increases with tm yellow when you perfect-catch a fish
  39. - quest points from doing fishing quests
  40. - successfully catching a boss fish gives you ?
  41. - regular money
  42.
  43. Progression
  44. You should be able to get better at fishing as you go along, in a way that's not completely skippable by spending xp on fishing or buying fishing items from other players in pshops.
  45. - progression tiers
  46. - fish difficulty
  47. - sort fish into difficulty tiers and have several fish of around the same difficulty in each fishing spot
  48. - fish that are more difficult will have more stamina to lose, move faster,
  49. - spots that are harder will have more snags that are more severe
  50. - add a boss fish to each fishing spot, caught with special bait, with puzzle mechanics so that it's impossible to catch if you don't use special tactics against it
  51. - defeating all the boss fishes in your tier is necessary to go up to the next tier - maybe you need iridescent scales from them to upgrade your rod or something
  52. - equipment power
  53. - tune equipment so that catching fish above your tier is really hard so players think twice about skipping
  54. still possible but it takes a long time and it's a struggle
  55. - let players advance fishing skill at outposts by paying in quest points (or something else?)
