  1. I visited Verizon.com to get some info about a cheap Android devices (I need one to test designs on—my company is *finally* getting serious about optimizing their sites for mobile devices…)
  2.
  3. One of those annoying web chat windows came up, so I decided to have a little fun with the sales rep.
  4.
  5. Enjoy…

  10. Thank you for your patience.
  11. You are now chatting with 'Clint'
  12.
  13. Clint: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
  14. You: i just had a question about android phones
  15. You: there are so many to choose from, and i am so confused
  16. You: if i buy an android device today, with a certain versino of the android OS, how can i know if it will be updated to the newest OS?
  17. You: for example, the Droid X has Android 2.2
  18. Clint: Many of the new phone have the 2.2.
  19. Clint: They are keeping it that way for awhile so you get all the same feature's and app's.
  20. You: be upgradeable to Android 4.0?
  21. Clint: When they come out with a update for the phone it will .
  22. Clint: Which phone are thinking about getting?
  23. me : the droid x
  24. me : sorry, i guess i am just confused
  25. me : my friends have iphones and they don't have to worry about all the android os versino craziness
  26. Clint: That's a awesome phone.
  27. Clint: Yea but they pay more for there app's.
  28. me : how so?
  29. me : i have read many articles that say that android apps tend to be free, but that the ads in the apps really affect battery life
  30. me : and that iOS apps don't usually have that issue
  31. Clint: That may be true but free is free. They pay more not to have ads.
  32. Clint: That's why they have chargers and car chargers.
  33. me : so what are we talking price wise?
  34. me : i don't quite understand what you mean by iphone users pay more for app's [sic]
  35. Clint: Exactly.
  36. me : what does that mean exactly?
  37. me : does that mean that a twitter app on android is free while a twitter app on the iphone costs money?
  38. me : sorry to be a pain, i am just confused by all the android choices
  39. Clint: I believe the app for twitter is free on the iphone also.
  40. Clint: Have you played angry birds?
  41. me : i'm just trying to understand an example of what you mean by android games being free while iphone users pay more
  42. me : android apps, sorry
  43. me : and yes i have seen angry birds
  44. me : i play it on my desktop using google chrome :)
  45. Clint: That games is free on the adroid market.
  46. Clint: Iphone users have to pay for it.
  47. me : really?
  48. me : why is that?
  49. Clint: Apple like's to get money.
  50. me : oh
  51. me : how does that work? they take the money for games like Angry Birds even though it is free on Android?
  52. Clint: I really do not know how it works.
  53. me : hmmm, well i definitely want to investigate that
  54. me : the cheap side of me wants to get an android as a disposable phone i replace every year or so
  55. me : but the part of me that wants to have a good device is leaning toward an iPhone
  56. me : plus, i am just really confused by all the choices
  57. Clint: I completely understand.
  58. me : i really appreciate your help
  59. me : thanks, Clint
  60. Clint: You're welcome.
