- I visited Verizon.com to get some info about a cheap Android devices (I need one to test designs on—my company is *finally* getting serious about optimizing their sites for mobile devices…)
- One of those annoying web chat windows came up, so I decided to have a little fun with the sales rep.
- Enjoy…

- You are now chatting with 'Clint'
- Clint: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
- You: i just had a question about android phones
- You: there are so many to choose from, and i am so confused
- You: if i buy an android device today, with a certain versino of the android OS, how can i know if it will be updated to the newest OS?
- You: for example, the Droid X has Android 2.2
- Clint: Many of the new phone have the 2.2.
- Clint: They are keeping it that way for awhile so you get all the same feature's and app's.
- You: be upgradeable to Android 4.0?
- Clint: When they come out with a update for the phone it will .
- Clint: Which phone are thinking about getting?
- me : the droid x
- me : sorry, i guess i am just confused
- me : my friends have iphones and they don't have to worry about all the android os versino craziness
- Clint: That's a awesome phone.
- Clint: Yea but they pay more for there app's.
- me : how so?
- me : i have read many articles that say that android apps tend to be free, but that the ads in the apps really affect battery life
- me : and that iOS apps don't usually have that issue
- Clint: That may be true but free is free. They pay more not to have ads.
- Clint: That's why they have chargers and car chargers.
- me : so what are we talking price wise?
- me : i don't quite understand what you mean by iphone users pay more for app's [sic]
- Clint: Exactly.
- me : what does that mean exactly?
- me : does that mean that a twitter app on android is free while a twitter app on the iphone costs money?
- me : sorry to be a pain, i am just confused by all the android choices
- Clint: I believe the app for twitter is free on the iphone also.
- Clint: Have you played angry birds?
- me : i'm just trying to understand an example of what you mean by android games being free while iphone users pay more
- me : android apps, sorry
- me : and yes i have seen angry birds
- me : i play it on my desktop using google chrome :)
- Clint: That games is free on the adroid market.
- Clint: Iphone users have to pay for it.
- me : really?
- me : why is that?
- Clint: Apple like's to get money.
- me : oh
- me : how does that work? they take the money for games like Angry Birds even though it is free on Android?
- Clint: I really do not know how it works.
- me : hmmm, well i definitely want to investigate that
- me : the cheap side of me wants to get an android as a disposable phone i replace every year or so
- me : but the part of me that wants to have a good device is leaning toward an iPhone
- me : plus, i am just really confused by all the choices
- Clint: I completely understand.
- me : i really appreciate your help
- me : thanks, Clint
- Clint: You're welcome.
