  1. Welcome to the third installment of the Doubles World Cup!
  2.
  3. **Starting this year we will be following the singles World Cup eligibility rules, with no grandfathering in from last year's edition.**
  4.
  5. Before we get started, there are a couple of points to discuss:
  6. - expand tournament from 6 to 8 teams:
  7. * US EAST
  8. * US WEST
  9. * CANADA
  10. * LATAM
  11. * EUROPE
  12. * APAC
  13. * ITALY
  14. * US CENTRAL (NEW)
  15.
  16. - 8 starters + 4 substitutes
  17.
  18. - round 1 of the tournament will be current gen bo1 games in a pool structure. this round will be 2 weeks. players will be placed in groups of **four or five** where they will battle all of their opponents. divisions will be assigned randomly and each team will play each other at least twice (and not more than 3 times; is it possible to achieve this with pools of 5?). points will be allocated for placements within their respective division, with ties splitting points. teams will be ranked on records, with points to sort tiebreaks.
  19.
  20. - i assume we're moving from a 3 team semi finals with the #1 seed getting a bye -> 4 team semi finals where the #1 seed fights the #4 seed
  21.
  22. - replays are mandatory.
  23.
  24. - we are aiming for signups to go up on the 18th of November. signups being two weeks would mean the tournament begins on the 5th of December. this period should have minimal overlap with other tournaments and allows the tier more time for quickbans and such.
