- What is not required for 100%?
- Having any of the GBA games in the DS slot. While I have all but 1, I excluded it for the sake of it requiring more than one game (those 4 can be added through stretch goals). I also didn't add the Gym leader refights (also a stretch goal).
- What is the hardest part of the 100% run?
- Munchlax. This Pokémon alone is a reason to do this as a semi-speedrun as it is stupid. Other hard parts include the Battle Frontier and Feebas, but Munchlax is far and away the worst thing. There are also some random items that take more than you'd think. Examples include accessories needing to collect 100 of a specific berry, needing to dig up 100 fossils, and winning 100 battles at the Battle Tower.
- How long will it take?
- Don't know. I don't have an ETA. I'm doing this more for fun than to get a time. My estimate is about a week. Because of Trophy Garden, it will take at least 7 days (though I added some sanity rules, see below).
- Any rule exceptions you're allowing for sanity?
- 1. Along with the 3 Regi's I can send over 3 Trophy Garden Pokémon. You need to send over 6 Pokémon, so I have 3 slots open in Emerald.
- 2. If I haven't found Munchlax and Heracross after a week I am allowed to boot up a HeartGold/SoulSilver run to send them over that way (I have 2 DS's). If I'm only missing Munchlax I'm allowing FireRed Snorlax instead.
- How do you even track all this?
- I used https://scripterswar.com/pokemon/completion/Platinum as the basis for most things that aren't trainers and pick-up items. The list has some errors though, so I have a giant spreadsheet to track everything else.
- Why Piplup?
- Piplup allows for the highest number of Accessories to be obtainable. Depending on your starter, there will always be 3 or 4 accessories unobtainable. With Piplup, I only exclude 3 (Round Pebble, Narrow Scale, and Thick Mushroom). The other starters would result in 4 accessories being unobtainable. This is excluding any free accessories from when you get the Fashion Case.
