  5. /------------------------------------------------------/
  6. | |
  7. | - READ THIS BEFORE YOU MAKE A PURCHASE - |
  8. | |
  9. | 1. You need to be wearing an apron in order to |
  10. | work in a workshop or forge. NOTHING will |
  11. | work if you are not wearing one! |
  12. | |
  13. | 2. You only need tempering oil when forging steel |
  14. | or better materials. There is water in a |
  15. | cistern in the forging chamber for use with |
  16. | bronze or iron. |
  17. | |
  18. | 3. Enchanted tempering oil is only needed when |
  19. | forging magical materials. |
  20. | |
  21. | 4. Bronze is an easy material to work with and |
  22. | is intended for practicing. It makes LOUSY |
  23. | weapons; however, you can make hilts/hafts |
  24. | and blades/heads from it. It is a good |
  25. | all-around practice material, as is iron. |
  26. | |
  27. | 5. The blocks of wood are for use in crafting |
  28. | the hilt/haft of a weapon; however, the type |
  29. | of wood will not be apparent in the finished |
  30. | weapon. You can as easily craft hilts or |
  31. | hafts from bronze or iron. |
  32. | |
  33. | 6. You cannot forge until you first craft a |
  34. | forging-hammer for yourself. A good hammer |
  35. | will improve your chance of success when |
  36. | forging. A poor hammer will decrease your |
  37. | chance of success when forging. |
  38. | |
  39. | 7. Magical materials can only be forged with |
  40. | a forging-hammer constructed from magical |
  41. | materials. This means the hammer must be |
  42. | made of mithril or better. The choice of |
  43. | which magical material to use is a personal |
  44. | preference and has NO impact on the hammer's |
  45. | ability to forge, other than enabling you to |
  46. | forge magical materials. |
  47. | |
  48. | 8. Glyphs are patterns. You need two for any |
  49. | weapon you intend to craft. Forging-hammer |
  50. | glyphs are permanent in each workshop on the |
  51. | workbench and do not need to be purchased. |
  52. | |
  53. | 9. Glyphs are made of various materials. The |
  54. | weaker materials contain fewer uses before |
  55. | they crumble. The choice of which to buy |
  56. | should be based on convenience. Stronger |
  57. | glyphs cost slightly more per use, but are |
  58. | lighter, considering the number of uses they |
  59. | contain. |
  60. | |
  61. | 10. The number of uses for glyph materials are: |
  62. | |
  63. | Wax - 10 |
  64. | Cuirbouilli - 25 |
  65. | Modwir - 50 |
  66. | Tin - 100 |
  67. | Silver - 250 |
  68. | Gold - 500 |
  69. | |
  70. | 11. Glyphs for three weapons of each forging skill |
  71. | group are offered for sale. They are listed |
  72. | in ascending difficulty. You will not be able |
  73. | to craft the second or third weapons until |
  74. | your skill is advanced enough. Practice on |
  75. | the first weapon until you realize that it is |
  76. | too simple for you to learn from, then move on |
  77. | to the second weapon, etc. |
  78. | |
  79. | 12. Each supply shop will offer glyphs for a |
  80. | weapon or two that are not regularly sold |
  81. | at other supply shops. These glyphs are |
  82. | posted towards the bottom of the sign and |
  83. | are usually of mid- to high-difficulty. |
  84. | Don't bother buying them until you are able |
  85. | to craft all of the similar skill weapons |
  86. | listed farther up on the sign. |
  87. | |
