Bio: Keyleth grew up with her family in Kalgar, once a proud nation and now a shattered wreck under the Govitian heel. Having never been particularly well-off, the Batali family was almost entirely reduced to begging and petty crime in order to make ends meet. Times were harsh. Keyleth's parents could be harsher still. The young girl grew up with very little affection in her life.

When Keyleth turned 13, she was "gifted" to the local Govitian governor by her parents in exchange for free passage to the more prosperous land of Sivult. Keyleth remained behind, becoming the governor's "domestic servant" and paid just barely enough to stay alive. The girl withstood all of these new abuses with apparent aplomb, constantly maintaining a cool facade as her master slowly lowered his guard. Eventually, he even gave his favorite servant a personal tour of his private wyvernnry.

One night, after six years in virtual slavery, Keyleth speared the governor through the heart with a homemade lance; a broomstick that she had spent many an evening carefully sharpening to a lethal point before concealing it under the governor's bed. Taking her former master's keys and a little gold, she broke into the wyvernnry and escaped on the youngest of the flying reptiles, a beast that had not yet been imprinted on any particular rider. Together, the two made their way west towards Sivult...and vengeance.
