Mel — Today at 09:28 So, to begin, whats your ckey? Jasorn — Today at 09:28 Jasorn Mel — Today at 09:28 Alright. So, the interview process is me asking a few questions and then providing a few scenarios. The interview will also be posted on the forums. Is that acceptable? Jasorn — Today at 09:28 yes Mel — Today at 09:29 Do you know the basic commands a moderator has access to? Jasorn — Today at 09:29 I'd say overall, but on the spot probably wouldn't be able to name every single one Mel — Today at 09:29 That's okay, I have a list right here. - Admin PM's ("BWOINK!") - Aghosting, which allows you to pop out of your body, check something out, then click it or Reenter corpse to get back into your body. It'll show up as your character asleep on their feet the entire time you're aghosted. - Check AI laws. - Check Antagonists. - Checking the date when players joined the server. - De-Admin, which turns you back into a normal player for a round/however long you need. Hit it again to remod. - Check player notes, warnings, bans, so on. - Staffwho will now show a lot more - Wind - The ability to go into someones player panel and give notes, warnings, tempbans and permabans (once your trial is done) - Defuse welder tanks by clicking on them. - You will be able to see ALL LOOCs. A little R will be in brackets for remote ones. You will also have a permanent AOOC as well as being able to read ghostchat at any time. - Access to MSAY, the Mod/Admin channel. - Viewing Variables (VV), though you probably won't use this past checking attack logs and such. Any questions about any of those commands? Are you also aware that you cannot, under any circumstances, show anyone their notes, warnings and so on? A headmin is the only one who can do that. Jasorn — Today at 09:32 Yes Mel — Today at 09:32 Cool. Thank you. So, I know you asked this before, but why do you want to be a moderator? Jasorn — Today at 09:35 For a long while now I've been having the game open just to observe, partly since I enjoy seeing others' roleplay, but in the process I tend to notice people asking for help about game mechanics or rarely a clear griefer that goes under the radar of current staff online (assuming any are at the time) I figure with the amount of times publicly applying for mod was asked even if it could be a joke, private DMs about asking if I would be mod, and with having two of my friends already apply and join I would try it myself Mel — Today at 09:36 Understandable. What is, in your own terms, powergaming? Jasorn — Today at 09:41 It's using items/game mechanics to you advantage when the situation your character your in has no reason to. Example being grabbing equipment beyond the reasonable stuff your job would normally need, especially uncomfortable ones such as voidsuits during a normal shift. It's essentially playing as a win game rather than trying to roleplay, doing whatever you can to defeat an antag too, etc. This would include doing actions that your character wouldn't know how like hacking doors without issue. Mel — Today at 09:42 Cool. We'll start with the scenarios now if you're ready? Jasorn — Today at 09:43 Yup Mel — Today at 09:47 Its a highpop antag round. Your logs flare up with a bunch of gunfire. You're in round yourself, doing your own thing, away from the shooting, when suddenly you see someone malding in deadchat about a bunch of security ganging up on them. They do not stop. What do you do? Jasorn — Today at 09:49 I ask them to stop what they're saying in deadchat and ask them to ahelp if they have an issue with how something went down Mel — Today at 09:52 They complain in tickets for a bit about how unfair it is that security knew exactly where they were and they were shot at almost instantly. Jasorn — Today at 09:54 I check the logs and message the officers that "ganged up on them" to ask what happened from their POV. How they knew where the antag was, and what made them decide to shoot them I would've aghosted and went over to the area to see what's going on from the start as well Mel — Today at 09:56 I should have mentioned its also red alert for a different reason The officers respond with "Oh yeah, the AI helped us find them. This guy was walking around in full riot gear and armour on red alert. Like, he didn't do much but just walked up. We were already armed from the other guy shooting people earlier" Jasorn — Today at 10:02 I ask if they were aware about this riot gear person being connected to the "other guy" from earlier, and even still that it's generally not okay to shoot first just because someone has combat equipment, and then I would message the AI to what extent they helped officers find the person. Generally AIs aren't meant to hunt out antags, and to read out their exact locations 24/7 would be too extreme Mel — Today at 10:03 AI player says the officers asked. The officers say they thought they were connected together and panicked. Jasorn — Today at 10:07 Tell the officers its understandable to have been panicked under attack during code red, but to try to be a bit more lenient next time. Everyone wants to have fun and roleplay, including antags, instantly shooting can be powergaming/validhunting which isn't fun. Make a note on them about it. Then I message the AI too saying, just because security asks for a location of what would've clearly been a person of interest with the full kit, doesn't mean to validhunt them and relay locations. Note them as well about the ticket. Mel — Today at 10:08 Coolio. So. You're ghosting a round and you see two random ass people join with the default look. They wander around for a bit, don't say a word to each other, but suddenly start beating each other up. What do you do? Jasorn — Today at 10:10 Wind them both, message both asking why they are doing that, meanwhile check their notes/warnings/account age Mel — Today at 10:11 Both 0 days old, no prior warnings/notes. They both respond with "My friend and I are having fun" Jasorn — Today at 10:16 I tell both that this is a heavy roleplay server and this behavior is unacceptable, specifically the attacking each other without reason. I refer them to the rules about creating characters and how to roleplay, as well as metagaming and that they can't communicate outside of the game such as discord instead of talking in character. Then ask if they understand? Mel — Today at 10:17 They understand (Then promptly dc) They were assistants though Jasorn — Today at 10:19 I give both a note about the ticket and the D/C afterwards Mel — Today at 10:20 Excellent. (Sorry, dying, one moment) Okay Someone joins the round with the name Ryan Reynolds. What do you do? Jasorn — Today at 10:26 Message them that character names can't be irl references or celebrity names, and ask for an alternative to replace it. While they respond do the usual inspection of previous notes/warnings/account age etc. Mel — Today at 10:26 No notes, baby account, they come up with Jugh Hackman Jasorn — Today at 10:28 I tell them this is their only chance to take this seriously and will be met with a ban if they won't provide a name that fits the rules. I can offer them example names too, I say Mel — Today at 10:29 They keep pushing it and say Tom Cruise Jasorn — Today at 10:30 Apply a ban, reasoning being: joined with a celebrity name and refused to have it changed after spoken to. Appeal on the forums with a link. (not sure if this part is automatic tbh) Mel — Today at 10:31 Cool. I believe the interview is over at this time. Anything else you want to add? Jasorn — Today at 10:32 Anytime I said "message so and so" I might've forgotten to say I would inspect their notes/warnings etc if I didnt already, seems like standard practice and might have forgor that's all
