Blueblood let out a groan as he rose out from under his bed sheets. The prince had not had a very peaceful sleep the previous night. His worry for his companion had made him restless.

Sitting up, he turned his head downwards to his side, eyes landing next to the indent in his pillow left by his head. There lay the small being that had been in his possesion for the last couple months. His tiny bipedal form was curled up in the covers, shivering.

Blueblood’s frown deepened as he noticed this last detail. The hoofheld human had developed some sort of respiratory problem over the course of the previous day, coughing and sneezing with growing severity. By nightfall, he could hardly breathe, they even had to postpone his nightly hoofrub duties because of his inability to do so.

The prince had actually grown a bit worried about him. The human was normally so hardy and healthy, even enduring through the times when he was used for stress relief. Despite treating like other common servants, the regal stallion had actually grown a sort of affection towards him. He wouldn’t know what to do if something happened.

Reaching over with his left hoof, Blueblood gently nudged the human’s sleeping form, “Anon, it’s morning.” he said, keeping his voice low.

Anon stirred, rolling over to face his master. Coughing roughly, he looked up at the stallion with a weak smile, trying to put on a strong face. He greeted him “Good morning, sir.” The smile was suddenly broken as he let out a rather large sneeze, sending him into a fit of sniffles and coughs.

Blueblood bit his lip a bit at this. It seemed it had worsened overnight. “Are you alright?” he asked, though it was obvious what the answer was.

Once again putting on a farce of health and failing, the human simply chuckled and replied “Of course I am, sir!” He slowly got up from under the covers and stood up. “You know I wouldn’t fail you by getting sick.” He made his way towards the prince’s hoof, which had set down a few inches next to him. “Would you like me to give you your morning hoofrub?”

Lifting his hoof away, the stallion sighed quietly. Even sick, Anon was apparently eager to please him. Maybe he treated him a bit too much like one of the normal servants. “I think we can skip that for today.” He said uncomfortably. “In fact, I don’t think you should be doing much at all today.”

Anon frowned at this “But I can still do my duties!” he exclaimed, worry in his voice, “I know how grumpy you can get without my attendance!”

Blueblood smiled at the human’s devotion. He leaned over, gently pressing his face and using his hoof to cup Anon to his cheek. He nuzzled his little manservant, feeling his tiny shivers tickling against his fur. “I think I’ll be alright just this once, little one.”

Using the same hoof, he picked up Anon and moved him back to his spot on the pillow. Using his other hoof to lift up the covers, he tucked in the human, making sure he was nice and snug. “You just get some rest for now.” the prince said gently, smiling down at him.

“Yes sir, if that’s what you wish.” Giving in, Anon closed his eyes, letting out an occasional cough or sneeze as his breathing eased out as much as it could. Soon, he was back asleep, once again shivering under the covers.

Sighing again, Blueblood drew closer to the human. He curled up around him, setting his head right next to Anon’s sleeping form. His face moved a just bit closer, his lips brushing against the biped. A quick, quiet suction sound accompanied the movement. He pulled away, frowning once again.

The prince rested his head atop Anon, keeping nice and warm. He would stay with him all day and longer if need be. He would make sure to only leave his side when absolutely necessary. He didn’t want a single thing happening to his valued companion.

Sighing once final time, he mumbled to the sleeping human “Just hurry up and get better….. please…” He soon closed his own eyes, beginning to doze off himself.

“I miss your hoofrubs already.”
